    Thanks for the update, Nad seems a good guy, and generously gave you time to consult with him properly. I believe a lot of the 46 community think throwing shiny track parts at these cars makes them 'focused', yea, a lot more to it than that . Again mate, another thoughtful, mature and considered bit of film making, thanks for the time and effort.

      @@stoneautomotive hahaha, funny, y'know I was looking back maybe in '12 to buy the exact model bike you have, it was the one I wanted then.
      Try and come out to Almeria in 2nd week of october with focused events. 6 days on track in the mountains, it's a lovely break with a girlfriend,(aprox £1100 all in, food, car, flights, event) you drive 40 mins to the track from the hotel, rental car races every morning/evening, and you'll improve as a rider 6 fold. Very well run, organised events with no 'noise' tests, just 5 days tracktime, transponders, so you'll move up as you gain track knowledge. If you have time watch simon crafar's track guide to almeria - gold. I used to go 4 times a year when I had dough🤣

    @James, to be honest I went from standard M-Tech suspension with Eibach pro spring kit (20mm lower F, 10mm R) to KW V3 and I was a little underwhelmed too.. The standard suspension from BMW M division is underated..

    Great to see you got it sorted James.
    This is a prime example of a product getting overhyped,.
    There's no doubt that they are a top quality piece of kit but it's always so difficult trying to find a totally honest review before you buy, it's refreshing to find someone who gives a totally honest review such as yourself.

      I've got a 1M and my 46 and in my opinion the 1M needs a few mods to dial it in properly, a bit like a 46 really.
      It completely transformed my car from what it was stock, I considered selling it at one point but decided instead to keep and mod it and now I love the thing.
      They are a nice couple of cars to run beside each as they are both great drivers cars but at the same time very different.

      @stoneautomotive  3 года назад

      @@mrmjb9373 I often wonder what I would think of a standard e46 M3 as mine has evolved so much from a stock car 🤔
      What have you done to the 1M? I do love the look of them, they just look so trick with the short body and wide arches, the owner of the one I reviewed has just purchased one with 16,000 miles on it 😱

    • @mrmjb9373
      @mrmjb9373 3 года назад

      @@stoneautomotive My M3 has also evolved a lot over the years, I've owned her from new so had the car for 18years now.
      With the 1M the first thing I did was fit a set of performance seats as you know how much the recaros improved your 46, then it got a switchable Akra, then I fitted 18inch 260m wheels along with Ac Schnitzer rs coilovers and a proper geo set up and the last bits uprated Forge intercooler, uprated charge pipe and a mild remap.
      All those little bits just make a big cumulative effect to the car that make it a lot of fun.
      I don't use either car on track they are just purely road cars so I like them to be a bit more supple so you can drive them down bumpy back roads and still enjoy them.
      The 1M's suspension was far to hard from factory and always just felt completely out of its depth on my favourite back roads, it would get to the point where the car would just start pogoing over the bumps and if you didn't slow down it would just throw you off the road, the Schnitzer set up made a massive improvement, much better ride comfort with much better handling.

    Hi! If i were you i would set the dampers to 20 clicks out. For street use there is no reason to run it stiffer. With the high spring rates Öhlins have it will still be stiffer than stock but the dampers amazing damping they handle that perfectly at 20 clicks.

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  10 месяцев назад +1

    Oh nice man glad she's handling well again. I think you'll only notice a real difference on track. I personally love Ohlins for a fast road occasional track setup. So compliant compared to some other track stuff.
    Yeah E46 is a bit of a porker... Hides it's weight well! I guess without that much fuel and 90kg it be close to sub 1500kgs. Chuck a Deadweight Industries battery in there and knock out another 14kgs 💪

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  3 года назад

      Agree it certainly needs to get on track, almost fell off the chair when I looked at track day prices at the moment - no one going abroad has certainly ramped those up! Could have done spa for the money pre-covid 😅
      Yea there’s certainly some weight to be saved whilst still keeping it in road car trim - really tempted with some Apex Wheels in 18” to save some rotating mass and turn the look up 😎

    The Z4 with the KW V3s are similar to a stock E46 M3 suspension setup?

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  3 года назад

      Hi Gerard, I’m certain the KW kit is far more advanced than the oem dampers but what I was more pointing out was when I reviewed Matts Z4M with them fitted it didn’t handle/ feel any different to my set-up but this was road use only (I’m hoping track is where I will notice the difference 👍)

      I wish I could say it had changed but still feel the same about them even more so after getting it out on track at Anglesey.
      It’s a lovely piece of kit but I wouldn’t say it warrants the price tag “personally” I find there very firm for road use even on the softest setting, at least for British back roads anyway.
