Yeah uuuuh, Yes and no. Battlefield is unique in that regard. Its an Arcady game, that, traditionally, *has* been immersive and aesthetically realistic. Its always aimed to make the world believable and make you feel like you're part of some big battle. BF5, and 2042, did not do that. When people brought this up for BF5, wankers and idiots went "JUST GO PLAY ARMA", as if that was the point being made.
No, the point made, was look at BF3, 4, 2, 1, even Hardline? Those games, *aesthetically*, as in the character models, the animations, the guns themselves, the gear, the equipment, vehicles, etc, *felt* realistic, and Battlefield has always. Why do you think games like Squad, the Battlefield 3 Reality mod, or similar mods or games *ORIGINATED* from the battlefield Franchise? Because an aspect of realism is, or I suppose *was* deeply embedded in the "soul" of the Battlefield series.
I have absolutely no faith. Didn't they claim to have all these same studios chipping in for 2042 and claim they were ahead of schedule about 3 months before launch?
yes they did. They told us 2042 would be a love letter to the fans.

Whatever setting they're going with the next Bf needs:
- Atmosphere and authenticity of Bf1
- Scale and epicness of Bf4 (+ levolutions)
- Movement and gunplay of Bf5
- Campaign as good as Bf3
- All of the previous modes but also a new one, for example Team Objective from Chivalry or Wolfenstein ET
- No specialists/heroes; we are supposed to be no-name soldiers drafted to a war and not a buch main characters in laser tag
- No ridiculous customization (i. e. pink neon shiny skins) unless a single one as an easter egg
I would disagree with the movements of BF5....I don't know why they introduced slidding would improve BF 😑.
How in hell soldiers are able to slide on every surface like that?! on top of making it faster and faster.
Ideas like that made BF go downhill IMHO. Didn't have any of that nonsense in BC2, BF3 and 4 and it worked perfectly.

Map design from bf3. I personally hated bf4 map design. Bf1 maps were OK, not bad and not perfect. Did not liked bf5 maps too

- Battlefield 3 setting & map balance
- Battlefield 4 gameplay & vehicle controls

That's not what EA wants, though. EA wants Battlefield to be a megablockbuster franchise. They aren't happy for it to just be great and sell well enough to be sustainable. So they're going to demand that they take some sort of risk or just try and copy elements of other superpopular games, and it's going to lead the developers down a path where they CANT just make a 'back to basics' Battlefield game like we all want. That's never going to propel Battlefield sales/revenue through the roof like they want, so they're going to demand devs do SOMETHING to try and achieve that. I can only hope that success of something like Jedi Fallen Order and whatnot make it clear to EA that it's ok if not everything pulls in a billion dollars a year.
Bro Bf4 vehicle controls were so good. The amount of control you had over helicopters was unreal. The new controls are so simplified and unfun. That alone ruins the newer games for me. Ridiculous

Preordering the ultimate edition for 2042 was the biggest financial regret I ever had. It was the equivalent of lighting $120 up in fire and throwing the charred remains down the sewers.

I just want the new BF to be like BF3 , BF4
The wonderful stories that resemble what we live in reality of wars and conflicts... the Abrams tanks that we know and the T90 tanks or the T90M being developed... the weapons that we are accustomed to, the wide and varied maps, and the great music of the Battlefield series with the flavor of BF3 and BF4.
And of course, with decent graphics and design, we don't want a second Battlefield Fortnite
In a world of constant retelling the same stories, remaking the same games, over sampling the same songs, you'd think it'd be easy for them to recreate bf3 but nope nope nope that'd make too much sense.

Have to get rid of cross play, it has ruined the game. Or give everyone auto aim/asist and let PC players shoot thru things, around corners, through hills and running away from you.

@@JacksonOfDork Id argue it was less about the setting but the perfect balance it struck between a fun playable game and realism. From a tactical (commander/Squad structure and class system) aswell as from a gameplay point of view (vehicle physics/flight models)
Regardless of how cool it looks I expect the next battlefield game to break records for lowest amount of presales on a major AAA franchise.

Their corporate marketing team will out maneuver that. They will blend the perfect amount of self conscious faultiness with bombastic hopeful wording and trailers to make people think it could actually be better. They are smarter than you think, and know how to strategically lie.
Except when it comes to the actual game. It will be hot, frothy dog water. They've shown now they (as many big developers) that the gaming industry allows you to just cash grab and lie about a product. They can promise us anything they want without consequence. Its EA. We were lied to before and we will be again.

I don’t, people have been falling for this stuff since advanced warfare.
They can have 50 studios on the next battlefield, but if no one is scouring RUclips comments, forums, etc. to find out what’s being truly talked about and desired by the community, it will still flop right out of the gate. I’m hopeful, but only time will tell.
They won't bother with this because as ususal, the people at the top know everything and we're just the plebs who will buy the game a year or two before it's even released for beta.

The main thing is having the core mechanics right off the bat. Bf3 and 4 were great with things like movement, sounds, gunplay, and simplicity. 2042 failed immediately on all those fronts. ON TOP of the rest of the game being worse than all the other titles
They made all the good games without any community help. Up to bf3 then they said they were listing to the community but the community was trolling and they listed to dumb ideas

They must understand they don't need to reinvent the wheel, they just need to deploy a fun experience. There's no need for climatic events, huge things happening changing the battlefield. I still remember playing Grand Bazaar back in BF3 for the first time: no levolution, no climatic events, just a balanced and fun map with good destruction.
I miss the fun I got from BC2 and BF3.

Actually Levolution in BF4 was a very good addition, because it was changing flow of the map, but the core gameplay stayed the same. They didn't need to invent Specialists in 2042 because it changed a lot of things people liked in BF3/4. This was the main problem

Hopefully they are doing a Bad Company 3. It's something that has been teased for a long time. BC2 and it's Vietnam expansion were some of the best BF moments I've had.

Hopefully not. Dice themselves were quoted as saying they don't know what made BC2 so popular. If old Dice didn't know what made it good, then new Dice has absolutely no chance of making BC3 good.

Bad Company 2 times were the best. One of my fondest memories, our team had control of all the command points except one. The enemy team was hold up in an attic and spawning respawning each other. Our whole team was surrounding the house trying to get them out. I came in and c4'd all the support walls. The house started collapsing and they went jumping out of whatever hole there was just to be shot like clay pigeons.....i didnt get the kills, but i got the laughs.

I want something like bf1 really badly. It was one of my top 3 games ever and the nostalgia is overwhelming
I enjoyed it a lot and it was immersive but one thing that was a definite no no was the gun play. The bullet bloom when firing was insane. It almost completely eliminated the skill of being able to control recoil at long ranges and get kills. Just something they did to make the skill gap smaller between good and bad players. Go back to BF4 and you notice a complete difference.
That game made you feel like badass when you were on a killstreak. Miss a game like that.

@@extantfellow46 yeah true although with the sniping I’d argue that the sweet spot for different weapons makes it more forgiving. With the right weapon at right range, you could get one hit kills to the torso as well as the head. BF4 it was headshot only.
@@extantfellow46okay. Look i love bf1 too however the community doss agree generally bf1 had easier sniping. Bf4 sniping was slower. The "sweet Spot" mechanic was the first of its kind and very controversial. Many found sniping op in the game due to people just simply exploiting the sweet spot mechanic. Bullets were also insanely fast. I still loved the game but it was true sniping was easier in bf1. I still say this with it being my top 3 battlefield game of all time alongside bc2 and bf4. All of them have the top 1 spot as they each did something which i remembered them for.

A battlefield game where it’s set during the Vietnam war would be amazing for me personally. A mix of old & new weapons even though the conflict is limited.
Yup. The good thing is Vietnam time period they were still using WW2 weapons and more modern from that time period we still in use today. Would be great.

Got to admit, it's been a hot minute since I've skimmed a Huey over the jungle canopy with Unfortunate Son blaring from the speakers so every Charlie from here to the DMZ could hear me while an F4 laid some Napalm on the village. I'm sure with today's technologies we could even have flammable Hooch's that burn; I love the smell of napalm in the morning!
Seriously though, they tried it before and just like a wet Hooch, it never caught on. Seeing as they've never revisited that chapter or ever bothered to patch out all the bugs it still has, I'm pretty sure they've closed that book.

Honestly just doing the Cold War would probably be better because you can explain to any conflict you desire with more weapons from later on available, probably 1991 is the cut off date
This would be so cool. I loved Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. Especially the commander abilities such as calling in artillery barrage, recon planes, smoke etc. Also many other specialists: assault, engineer, sniper. When you are in the middle of battlefield and suddenly artillery starts raining it feels super realistic, you have to find spots to hide in order to survive. Maps are huge too and beautiful jungle forests and rice fields with different weather and daytimes, night and rain etc. Also, different armies too, not just US army vs vietcong but also US marines, Australian army, army of the republic of Vietnam, people's army of Vietnam backed by China and Soviet Union.
Been following you for years Jack, since the bad company, battlefield 3 days. I just wanted to say I love your content, always have! When it comes to battlefield you're the man, you're #1!
It's frustrating as when you look through comments of any BF youtube vids talking about what is coming next, the overwhelming consensus is to want a bit of a gritty BF3/4 style game. They don't need to re-invent the wheel as they have a solid foundation and an established playerbase. I hope they realise this

I personally liked the maps in BF4 and the Movement and gunplay in Battlefield 5.

I think the problem with bringing on more studios is that EAs vision becomes bigger and they make the game want to be bigger and badder than ever and the ambition just increases and it just ends up being way too much. I think that’s what happened with 2042. Sure bring on more studios but let’s try and keep that ambition a little more grounded. I think us as battlefield fans are still fine with just 64plsyers
Yeahhhh no not even close. Battlebit has very much shown that a majority of players want huge battles and enjoy some more advanced mechanics that are ambitious, the player base just so happens to want it be done right not wrong. Look at 2042 huge maps and how the players interact with each other vs any huge battlebit map. In battle bit their is always something going on at just about every corner/inch of the map unlike 2042 where its just empty space and then the 1 or 2 areas on the map where the game is being played. Battlebit justifies the reason to have more players/ bigger battles in a battlefield where as battlefield does the opposite. Pretty much 2/3 of the big flagship maps sucked.
Tbf, BF2042 was one of the worst managed games. It was a clear failure of management and EA. Let’s hope Vince will turn that around
well imo i didnt like how many players battlebit has, thats why i dont play it anymore. there was just TOO much going on. but im not saying every single battlefield fan doesnt want large scale, im just saying if having more players is gon impact performace. i think the majority of us would be okay to have 64 players with just smaller maps. but i do agree that the mechanics battlebit has is nice@@MexicanBurrit0

Just tier 1 Zaine a few weeks ago, IMO one of the best specialist with his health revive when you get a kill and his airburst is OP when you really dial it in.

When we became adults, we played childrens games like battlefield 2042
HOPEFULLY they get back to making a BF that is AWESOME like BF4 and BF3... I had high hopes for 2042, but I guess my hopes were too high because that game has been dead to me for a long time... :(

I've been a fan of Battlefield since the beginning, I played 1942 off my dads home computer back when I was a little kid (only got to fly around in the planes and drive the tanks around a bit against bots). And I share the notion that DICE/Everyone else involved has alot on the line for the comming BF game. They HAVE to make it right. From the beginning to end in order to make up for the bad calls/bad issues and stuff that has held it back in the past. I really, really hope that they can deliver on that.
Hopefully it won’t be a failure and won’t have character customisation like CoD

EA talking about their "love letter" to their community and then releasing an unfinished and flawed game just goes to show how they feel about their playerbase... Dont have your hopes up cause we will never get the same feeling we had playing BC2-BF4 (BF 1 I also quite enjoyed)

I think a smart move would be to start testing content in portal. It would give more portal some content, allow the community to have an input, developers would get instant feed back. Help get the 18 month beta test out of the way early

Firestorm had the potential to be warzone, it needed f2p and a live service. But it's gameplay, gunplay, vehicles, map were all excellent, and you had the ability to have fun in a battle royal mode.
People slated the loot system, but WZ is exactly the same 😂

Cod had the same problem with black ops 4. Was a solid and good BR gamemode, everyone talked good about it, but it wasn't f2p and it died out pretty quick. I think that's why WZ got to be so popular, it's an improved BR from Bo4 BR, but made free for everyone to play.
The news that some of the staff that left are returning signals to me that the proper changes in creative leads and decision makers has occurred which makes the old crew comfortable to come back to make the game they know how/want to make. Still no preorders though just to be safe.
that laser ranged explosive, was developed originally for an underslung system. but was then removed and made into a squad deployable support weapon. i didnt know they made it its own personal weapon again.

Yes, The XM25 is a real weapon platform. It’s an airburst system and is very useful for clearing a enclosed area without entering them, to my knowledge the projectile will explode behind whatever cover the target is using mitigating their cover efforts

They should do a full on Vietnam experience. Take the best features from BFV and bf1.
I would much prefer them do a more general cold war themed game than one just focused on vietnam.
The vietnam war doesn't exactly offer a lot of variety in terms of map locations

Hint to the devs, everything you have fixed and stuff you have implemented that the community wanted for 2042 should be brought forward to the next game. Everytime they release a game, it half dies then they spend the next 8 months to a year fixing it and expects a medal. "look we listened to you guys, reward us". Deliver. from. the. start.
Don't release a broken, unbalanced game. You have a lot of players that would be happy to test your game before release and point out what needs sorted asap.
Most people here are probably way to young to have played BLACK but it was one of the most advanced shooters of the time. There was bullet flight time, bullet ricochet physics, great explosions and some of the best destruction at the time. The fact they never made a sequel is criminal.

They squandered the good will of the fanbase, purely to pander to players who'd never played the franchise.
I am actually glad that my PC hardware has limited me on the new games that have released. Ive saved quite a bit of money not purchasing the hyped up games that have come out.
Hopefully I will have better hardware by the next BF title but we shall see what becomes of the gaming industry in the next few years.
hopefully we get a game more like BF4 again. More night maps,Sea/island maps with sea vehicles (attack boats), some better levolution to really show of the engine and some better/bigger EE.
Get me a battlefield 2 experience where you only spawn on squadleaders.
In my opinion, if they pick the right timeline and the communication between the studios is good, then they can only make a good game... Plus with Criterion, if they focus on the amazing details like they did with BLACK or Burnout, the Gothenburg studio working on a crazy Engine and DICE Stockholm keeping the Lead on the vision where they want to go. So it can only go in the right direction.
In my opinion, we have to support these choices, because if everyone focuses on one part of the game and communication internally and with the other studios remains good, then it's all to the good. I don't want to be too optimistic, but this is how a good company functions today. Now it's up to them to make the most of it, without following the trend every time (BF 5 / 2042) Example. specialists, etc... Because that's what BF is all about. A game like no other! Fun and realistic.

I really hope the next Battlefield will be about history again, The Cold War is the perfect option; Korean War, The Vietnam War, and maybe a what if mode of US vs the ussr. It seems impossible, but 4 studios working on a new Battlefield, I believe it can be possible. BF1 and BFV were big hits because it was about history, bringing a The Cold War version would be amazing. But we must be patient and see what happens.

Previous weapons tech from the Canadian Army. That technology does exist but it’s by no means hand held. It’s a big robust mounted grenade launcher and you need specialized ammo for it. I BELIEVE each grenade is 5grand if you want to program it to explode in air at a certain distance, and yes, I mean program.
If it's anything like 2042 I'm already out.
Their business plan has technically worked twice. Release an unfinished, broken, unbalanced game and try to fix it over months of updates. They dont care about the game quality, they just see people buying thousands of copies regardless. Probably going to see a similar story with this next one 😕

EA knows that if they release a finished and polished game, they will make a lot more money. If this is the case, many more players will remain active and are potential customers who will buy the Battle Pass or some cosmetics in the store. This is probably why so many studios are working on the future of Battlefield and why the next game won't be released until late 2025, if not 2026

Yes this things exists. It was tested years ago maybe 20111 or 2012 but it’s a real air burst weapon .
I miss firestorm. Had a lot of fun with my brother and being able to see the stats and a few clips from winning is all I have of that beautiful game mode
The XM370A 40mm grenade launcher is heavily based on the real-life HK/ATK XM25, which itself is leftover from the US Armys now defunct XM29 OICW (Objective Individual Combat Weapon) Program. It was lead by HK, Orbital ATK and the US Army back in the 90s.
It originally used the HK XM8 paired with a smaller, programmable and smart, air-burst grenade launcher module in one weapon system. Was pretty neat stuff and quite ahead of it's time, tbh. It just never got much traction, sadly lol

I just hope it's a battlefield that takes us back to the classic experience like a BC2 or BF3 remaster or just a whole new Battlefield game. And it must have a campaign.
Hoping one day Battlefield goes Planetside, one huge map to play on.

Battlefield was a franchise that I thought would lead the industry towards amazing warfare on a mass scale.
Now I'm afraid they won't even be a part of the industry.
We just want a remastered BF2. No space ships or Halo crap.
Almost everytime we hear a bunch of (big) studio's are working on 1 game, we end up with Fallout76 games. Communication and getting on the same page is to difficult for so many studio's.

I think the state that 2042 released in was unforgivable. Definitely not even thinking about buying whatever they put out next until there’s a unanimous agreement from a lot of content creators that it’s worth the money.
Almost all of the devs that worked on black and burnout left criterion when EA said they would kill the burnout franchise. Its now a completely different studio compared to back then,
Some of the devs went on to make their own studio, "Three Fields Entertainment" which make indie racing games inspired by og burnout games
This was the first and last game that i preordered in my entire life, so im just gonna wait till it comes out and watch youtube videos for a week till i see that its worth it, and also buy it from steam in case that i want a full refound.
