- We asked nine of the 10 coaches (all but Scott Frost) that faced Michigan football in 2021 why the Wolverines were successful in 2021. Here's what they each had to say.

Yup, always like him as a person and as a coach. Ryan Day needs to watch his interviews and take notes on how to stay humble and show respect.
I could hear the bitterness in Day's voice and see the sorrow in his eyes. Makes me all kinds of happy to watch that interview. The only coach that didn't give credit to Michigan. Cue the music 🎶 Hail to the Victors Valiant🎶
Me personally, I love Michigan football and understand the importance of the Rivalry but coach Day is so unprofessional. He actually has vigor and malice in his heart. He's a good coordinator and he knows football but as a coach that is in charge of being an example for young men, I think is not a good look. Go Blue!!
Day is bitter because Michigan beat Ohio last year at home that expected. Michigan even bitter teM for close to 17 to 20 years AND now Michigan State past 2 years is beating them. I still think Michigan a good football program but not great or elite, but some fans are in denial that they are elite
@@clarencewalder2985 They finished top three in the AP poll and are second favorite to win the B1G. I'd certainly argue Michigan is trending toward elite status. If Michigan can put together a similar season as 2021, I'd say they are elite. Definitely elite in 2021.

CS I'm a Michigan fan too, I can understand crying, Ryan's anger but his disrespect for Michigan shows what a whiner he is. He sounds like the cry baby fans. You can't be nice to an O$U fan without them whining.
Pat Fitzgerald is a hell of a coach. nailed exactly what made Michigan the best team. He is my favorite non-Michigan man in the sport. Pat Fitzgerald is an honorary Michigan Man in my book and I would accept him in every way no matter what if ever he wanted to join us.

We call them “Ohio”
It’s all Columbus had for decades. No pro sports teams, an inconsistent ncaa hoops squad, no ncaa or nhl hockey presence, and academically inferior. For decades sports in Columbus began and ended with the buckeyes. So it’s probably hard behavior to unlearn for them. They haven’t grown out of the provincial attitude from back when it was the big two and little 8.
I agree, pretty petty. I as a Wolverine have no problem saying Ohio St. or buckeyes. They for all their great recruiting classes for last couple decades have exactly 1 more National Championship in football than us since 1997. But since 1989, we have them in basketball which they have won none. And our Women’s softball team won the only natty this far North and East EVER. And we don’t have to call ourselves The Michigan Wolverines University. So say our name Buckeyes, grow up, we’re not so small to say yours

Tucker is 2-0 vs UM. MSU has beaten UM 10 of last 14 meetings. MSU is the better program. Tucker will be there a long time while Harbaugh can't wait to hook up with some NFL franchise.

Mel will be fired or leave within 3 years when he realizes he will never win the east. “Better program” doesn’t make rings for beating a 3rd string QB in the Peach Bowl while we win the Big Ten.

The Maryland Coach I don't know names, but that guy/he/the coach didn't seem to remember anything about Donovan Edwards having like almost 200 total yards vs him haha.

u'll NEVER get the msu fanbase/media to admit they ever got the "w" in part b/c of a bad call. u can even show them the clip of desmond howard clearly being tripped on the last play of the 1990 game or the clock freezing at 0:01 to give them an extra play or that there was no video evidence to overturn last year's sack/fumble/TD recovery and still they'll have some BS take on it. it's just who they are.
Tucker over here acting like they didn't get spanked by Ohio State a couple weeks later. Literally every coach gave Michigan props but him.

I don't think there's any other team in college football that focuses on their rival like Ohio St focuses on Michigan. It seems to be at an unbalanced level.

I agree,I watch the game and if Michigan loses I go on with my life. I have Buckeye relatives that just think about Michigan all the time instead of just enjoying all the wins they get. Kinda funny!

Feel bad for Greg Shiano. Rutgers gonna have to dig deep to compete but u never know with the Landscape of college football they could become a threat soon. But with USC and UCLa coming things gonna get harder

Top SEC teams simply have much bigger and faster athletes. That's largely what it boils down to. Georgia dominated the trenches like Michigan did with most of the Big10. It easier clearly obvious the size and speed advantage Georgia had.

You’re the perfect example of the perpetually salty buckeye. It tells me that in the back of your empty little head, you know you’re still behind - Michigan still leads the series. Even after OSUs dominance for almost two decades.
For decades, you had nothing else to watch down there, you just had buckeye football. Combine that with inferior academics and , well, Columbus, and it’s easy to see why you an other buckeyes like Ryan Day still can’t avoid letting the wolverines live rent -free in your head.
Class? You just provided a perfect example of buckeye class. Ask any big ten fan who has traveled, which fan base behaves with the least class? You’ll get a resounding “buckeyes” for the answer. For a program that gets compared to top tier ncaa programs, you don’t act like it.
because they had a good O line and they got a lot of calls go their way in 2 games. Other than that the league wasn't very good last year and they got lucky and was able to run behind a good O line with a C+ back and a C+ rest of their team. It wont happen that way 2 years in a row. I expect the bigten to pick up the offensive production.

My takeaway: A good football coach would mandate of his players to change jersey numbers every year based entirely upon random assignment and what the rules allowed. Coaches that don't learn players as people deserve to suffer the consequences.

I love Day's answer, every dog has it's day and Michigan caught the Buckeyes at the 'right' time to win. I honestly don't think it will happen again seeing all the changes at Michigan and the fact that Harbaugh really wishes the NFL would take him back.
