OMG ! I have heard many bands cover this song but no one has captured the essence of it like Blackberry Smoke. Benji Shanks on slide is amazing. The heartbeat of rock and roll is still beating.
I would say the Allmans did a nice job of covering it!!
I am a giant Allman Brothers fan. Charlie, you honor them all, not only your great guitar playing, but also your spot on vocals. Blackberry Smoke is the heir apparent to the ABB. That is quite an honor, and you guys are up to it. You are the new face, and voice, of Southern Rock.
Paul nailed Dickey's original lead here. Paul also does a great job on capturing Dickey's vibe on "One Way Out".
Gibson Les Paul guitar, Coricidin bottle slide, hard to miss with that combination, and he sure didnt miss. Fantastic cover of a legendary Blues song!

WOW! THAT was incredible! Stingin' slide by Benji, Duane would be proud…..beautiful lead by Paul ala Dicky, oh, and Charlie isn’t bad either….great performance by the whole friggin' band. BBS was born to play Statesboro Blues.
Statesboro Blues is a southern anthem. It is a joy to see it played with such feeling and accuracy. The ABB would be honored by your version.
Charlie, your awesome guitar skills are matched by your awesome singing voice. I admire how your singing is so true to the original artists- whether it be the ABB or ZZ Top. True to them, yet you make it your own. Just outstanding. Keep rockin!!
