  • Saif al-Islam, one of Muammar Gaddafi's sons, has been the public face of the Libyan regime since the unrest in the country began. He has accused the international media, including Al Jazeera, of blowing the crisis out of proportion. In an interview with Al Jazeera's Anita McNaught, he repeated the allegation and claimed that the West was trying to take over Libya's oil.

He didn't want to accept reality. He should have told his father to step down. I don't agree with what the rebels did to them either. They were prisoners, they should not have been brutalized and definitely not sodomized. How can you claim you are fighting for human rights then do vile acts yourself. It makes them worse than the people they were fighting against.

@@lauralishes1 What reality was there to accept? Unconditional surrender? They had to project strength to their people, but leak documents in the past decade showed they were actually desperately negotiating behind the scenes to find a way out. Once NATO killed the youngest son Saif al-Arab and several underaged grandchildren in April 2011, it was obvious the war would not end until Gaddafi was dead and from that point on, it became a fight to the death. The whole family knew it and I give them credit for refusing to abandon their father. Family loyalty is something sacred and most Westerners do not understand. Gaddafi will be vindicated by history as a martyr. He was the Joan of Arc, William Wallace, and Spartacus of our time.

@BallsOfDesire agree the West needs to stay out of this. They talk about trying Khadafy and his sons for crimes against humanity. What about the US and Britain for invading Iraq? They did so based on lies (there was no weapons of mass distruction). The West needs to be concerned with what and who is really behind these protest. If your govt is open to dialogue, the leaders of a reasonable movement would be open to such discussions.

It is so obvious right! I can’t believe there is actually people that trust or believe in this news outlet. Qatar was one of the biggest supporters of the militias fighting Col. Gaddafi’s regime(too many interests). It still has a lot of influence in Libya and also one of the biggest sponsors of the GNA. 40+ years the country was stable and very good financially. They also said that Gaddafi stole a lot of the money and it was later found all saved in banks. Their main argument is that there were protests in the country against Gaddafi and his government, but they seem to forget that most of the country’s population were not protesting maybe it’s just selective amnesia. You can watch any of Gaddafi’s old interviews that were pretty much the same types of accusations with no basis, everything he says that was going to happen did. For some reason he was smart enough to keep the tribes and the rest of the population under control.

@2conscious The reason they overcame Muammar is because of the obvious NATO support. Also, don't forget that this revolution began twice. It began first after Tunisia, but before Egypt, but the first time the people had demands of reform not overthrow. Gaddafi gave in, said take any empty home (to solve housing crisis). After Mubarak, Gaddafi says to evict anyone who didn't pay for a home (his daughter owns the real estate) and everyone has had enough and takes to the street.

This interview will become legendary! Propog.*cough* Public Relations advisers (spin-doctors) will have a field day with this material of How Not To Present Your Regime to the Public or The World.
This interview merits a split screen version where the countenance and gesticulations of the interviewer and interviewee can be seen at the same time.

are of vapor and we all come here naked and leave here naked. We all reap what we sew. I o ot waste any time angry. I pray and entrust in my father and I have had miracles from cancer to all sorts of things that were gloom and doom in my 40 years. I pray and leave it to my father. I do not hate ones who are mean to me. I forgibve them and I just keep being who I am meant to be. Is it hard? No. It is easy. That is all I have to say.Thank you.

' There are six million people in Libya'.....'There are 2 million people in Tripoli'...... '70% of the population is in Tripoli alone'. It sounds he's quite good at math ! 200 militia men are involved in the uprising. When you don't buy your daily food, you lose the ability to count ! even when the numbers involve human lives !

another background is not fair. Perhaps the majority do not have this love which I do for everyone and do not care for everyone but I have peace and nothing but love everyday in my heart for all and it feels very good.People in general are mean to me everyday unprovoked and it is not personal. They do not know what they do. I just ride things off my back. It is no big eal. I know who I am and I am at peace. Even if the majority is mean I would rather remain the minority. In the end, our lives

Keep Ghadaffi, we need Ghadaffi. The west does not understand if the Ghadafi government falls - we will have an Islamic Government.

On the basis of this interview alone I would say Gaddafi's days are numbered. This situation gets more bizarre by the minute as I also have a serious crush on the Al Jazeera journalist which interfered a little with my interpretation of this.
