The most underrated part about the Grizzlies is their defense. This team is 1st in both steals and blocks per game and they are also 15th in defensive rating and 17th in opponent field goal percentage. All of this without Dillon Brooks, arguably their best defender, so far this season. Now, playing without Ja turned them into the 2nd best defense in the league statistically (102.4 defensive rating), but when he returned it slipped to 115.9. Taylor Jenkins heavily relied on defense during Morant’s absence with injury as Memphis went 10-2 in that span. Guys like JJJ, Melton, Clarke and Kyle Anderson are great individual and team defenders both inside and out plus they traded for Steven Adams in the offseason who’s still one of the league’s strongest players. And let’s not forget about one of my favorite players in the league, Desmond Bane. He’s a legit 3-and-D wing out on the perimeter. Bringing back Dillon will give these young Grizzlies an elite defense that can stifle any opponent’s offense. Some guys like Clarke, Xavier Tillman, Ziaire Williams and Culver are still trying to find a way they can impact the game offensively, but if there’s one thing this team can hang their hat on, it’s defense.
The scariest and most underrated part about this Grizzlies team is how much each of their players can still improve. They're average age is 24 (which is the second youngest behind the Thunder) years old but the team has been playing as if all of them are in their primes. Can't wait to see this team a couple years down the line with a prime Morant, Bane, Triple J among others.
In my opinion, the most underrated part about the Memphis Grizzlies is their ability to rebound the ball, their hustle, and their ability to defend. This team reminds me of the grit and grind grizzlies of the 2010s. Their players play very hard and do not stop until the final whistle is blown. Steven Adams is a very underrated center and a great rebounder. The defensive rebounds that he collects is what ends the other teams possessions, so you’ve got to think about how much that helps his team out. He’s also an excellent offensive rebounder. Although he may not be a great scorer, the grizz does not need him for this. He has single-handedly helped to lead this team to #1 in rebounding in the nba this season. He can operate in the pick and roll, which gives Ja easy layups/shots. JJJ is a great defender because of his long and athletic body type. He has the speed to keep up with players. Their guards hustle and are extremely underrated. Ja is of course the man who is making it all happen. He he’s a motor like no other. After a defensive rebound is collected, he can run the floor and finish with ease. Desmond Bane has also been a great piece for them. These players do not quit. They have a great coach and are willing to go the extra mile to succeed. I can only see this team improving from here on out. It is unreal how they are playing so well at the young age that they all are.
The culture and depth is the most underrated aspect of the team , the ability to plug in 14th and 15th guys off the bench and they fit into the system is culture based . The different weapons on the court cutting and passing gives you a roster where more than half can get you 15 or so any night
The most underrated thing about Memphis is the bench production and interior defense. While we aren’t a great perimeter defensive team our interior defense is very good. With both Steven Adams and Triple J it’s tough for the opposing team to score in the paint. Also our bench is amazing. We currently have a top 10 bench in the league. They were one of the main factors during the sketch of games when were winning without Ja. Killian Tillie even though he starting now, with the absence of Dillion Brooks, he is an amazing 3 and D player coming up with great defensive plays. John Konchar is a great hustle player who can shoot the ball well. Tyus Jones has an amazing floater game and an amazing playmaker.
I think the most underrated part of this team is how entertaining they are. They have a freshness and inventiveness that is fun to watch and enough old school ways to reignite the hearts of jaded basketball fans.
The scariest and underrated part of the Grizzles is they have been beating teams like the Cavs, Nets etc without Dillon Brooks who is considered to many there second best player. At least one of there better players this team is crazy deep.
I think the most underrated part of Memphis is bane and Jackson jr. I think that really contribute to the team winning. Most of the limelight is taken off these two because of the star on there team (morant).
don't forget Aquaman, everybody loves him cause he's such a chhill guy, but they miss that he's a solid player and has opened the offense up a lot this year
With players in and out No Dillion Brookes, Melton, Anderson, and others though the past month or Two. No problem. Bane is MIP!!!! Bench is providing alot of fire. Steven Adams and JJJ back court is a major reason on why this team is defence strong. Up the mighty Grizzlies 💪
Their defense is so underrated. They have capable defenders in the perimeter in Brooks, Bane, Culver and others. Jaren and Adams are good inside defenders and shot blockers. The chemistry and fit of the whole team is also very underrated because they have pieces that fit well in every role they are assigned to.
Most underrated part of the grizzlies is their hungriness and ability to win close games. Being so young and hungry they bring it night in and night out, I feel like some of the older vets choose when to show up from time to time but not this team. That really makes an impact on the standings now and moving forward.
The quickest way to offend a Memphis Grizz fan (myself included) is to call them Tennessee. The only professional team called Tennessee is in Nashville.
The most underrated part I this is there depth. Nobody is 13 deep like them. They literally have nothing but players who are worth a roster spot. Covid hasn't affected them like other teams because there backups are real quality players that have bought in.
The most underrated thing about Memphis Grizzlies is their depth & the ability to be able to plug & play. Their desire to win is the most overlooked thing in the NBA. They can close out close game & they play physical & fast. On top of that they have a team full of shooters. It’s a recipe for a championship run they can beat anybody & they don’t fear anybody.
The most underated part is their ability to switch, whether its on defense or on attack. At the start of the season the idea that the grizzlies "dont need ja" came off the back of a few turn overs (from a multitude of back offensive options), to them losing their way in close games and then him sitting out due to injury and in this time the team managed to figure it out, during that same period they had the same issues with their defense and people not picking up on the switch, imo this has improved while he was away and then when he came back increased dramatically and all he has done has added more direction to a better switched focused team now, on d and attack... like i say imo
Dark horse for the Finals this season. Wouldn't surprise me at all. The league's mistake was letting them get a taste of the Playoffs last season. That Utah series was the key to what's going on right now.
man memphis is elite they have already beat the warriors suns jazz nets clippers and lakers. Once they are fully healthy and develop more down the season i dont see many teams being able to beat them. And with the way ja is playing teams are gonna be double teaming him but that wont do any good because they have bane and brooks who can also put up 20 a night
That's right the Memphis Grizzlies have beaten the top 3 teams in the West including the Lakers. All these sport analyst keep bowing down to LeBron wasting their time. It's time to promote the real deal and not the past deal. Go Memphis and Ja Morant !

Great analysis. All I want to know is you like Steven. Be safe mate, from New Zealand.
You said Steven Adams is the strongest person 😂 ,but more importantly he's number one offensive rebounder in NBA last time I checked

Underrated? They are getting their shine. Bane and JJJ are getting discussed all the time. If anything Tyus Jones is the unsung hero.
don't forget Aquaman, everybody loves him cause he's such a chhill guy, but they miss that he's a solid player and has opened the offense up a lot this year
People forget that JJJ is younger than Morant too .
They're a very good team and Tyus Jones is massively underated, Garland from the Cavs is super underated, that guy is dangerous, good video 🤟

Memphis Grizzlies 🤛🏾🤜🏾💯💯💯✊🏿

Great video, love the analysis. Cracks me up to hear you calling them Tennessee though, don't hear that very often.

Adams! 💪💪💪
The most underrated thing about the #grizznation is the uncalled fouls from refs.. And respect from commentary..🐻🐻🏀🏀
The most underrated part I this is there depth. Nobody is 13 deep like them. They literally have nothing but players who are worth a roster spot. Covid hasn't affected them like other teams because there backups are real quality players that have bought in.
Great breakdown💯
Glad you think so!
Not gonna lie keeps throwing me off every time you refer to them as “Tennessee” lol

They work together
Most underrated part of the Grizz are the “bench warmers”. I will take Aldama, Pons, Konchar and Culver over most other teams third rotation.
Nice video

Vancouver Grizz killin it
This is MEMPHIS now.
Is is less offensive than calling them Tennessee Grizzlies.
@@stevensheegog3942 that sounds better than Vancouver.
There are people in Memphis rocking Vancouver throwbacks. Two things Memphians hate. Tennessee Titans (Nashville) and Tennessee Vols (Knoxville).
@@stevensheegog3942 not me I'm from Memphis and I rep 'em both.
Let them play “Da Bulls!”
W video
Crazy is, Ja is probably the lead for most improved player. Longshot, but he has mvp chances. He in the top 10, probably top 7.
man memphis is elite they have already beat the warriors suns jazz nets clippers and lakers. He said Grizz are the only Tennessee franchise, but don't the Tennessee Titans play in TN?
Please show clips at real speed
I was NOTI
The Chicago bulls can stop them
Only 1 way 2 find out.
To be honest Memphis is better all around
We gonna see when they play the Chicago bulls
