    I find learning solos from songs a lot more efficient rather than just practicing bare technical exercises .

    I've been a subscriber for years and I've literally watched every video on this channel. I have to say, Mike is being much more accurate then ever about whatever topic he decides to talk about lately.. I mean me as someone who knows all of Mike's videos by heart I'm now finding alot of answers that I've been seeking for a long time by relating some things that Mike said in the past and things that he is saying now together like puzzle pieces because it kinda sounds like he's still talking about the same things he used to but he's breaking down things he never did before and that's extremely helpful.
    You're the best guitar teacher Mike thanks for changing my life!

      Exactly. I've made more progress by listening to Mike than anyone else. He makes it very easy for me to understand the guitar coming from a brass instrument background. Brass instruments require very little technical skill when compared to a guitar, in my opinion. I thought that learning licks and scales would automatically train my hand to know where it should go. That's not the case at all. I had the recipe to many scales, licks, and songs committed to memory, but I've been wasting time trying to figure out how to bake my first guitar cake ever since. That is until I found Mike's channel.

    Mike, you make so much sense. I make improvements every time I watch a video of yours on technique. Thank you, Sensei.
    By the way, the first three beats of Happy Birthday gave me a hint, and the fourth beat confirmed it. I always assumed everyone could identify melodies by their rhythms.

    We just know that those mini-jokes of movie clips and stuff like that isn't really yourself.. Just be yourself dude.. I think I am not alone in this.. Maybe i am though.. Don't mean any harm, just love your videos and would love to see you grow.. Also the only reason I never bought your course is i dont have any money unfortunately and its too late now.. But you looked like the most instructional, most confident, capable, and knowledgeable teachers on youtube.. And still do of course. Thanks you always helped me alot

      Nothing wrong with incorporating a little humor. Still a great teacher, either way.

      Focus on your picking hand alone. :D

    • @HowToPracticeGuitar
      @HowToPracticeGuitar  3 года назад +4

      That's not what it is. The "picking hand alone" is just an example. I'm talking about motions in general (in both hands), or other fundamental elements of playing that affect all exercises. It could be 2-hand sync, string noise, excess tension, articulation (or even phrasing, like vibrato), etc.
