    Wow, this is exactly what I was looking for. I just got a scope like this and you have explained how the logic analyzer works in just a few minutes. I’m looking forward to your future videos on how to use the various features of this scope!

    It looks like the bit order is backwards, or is that me?

    CAN, LIN and FlexRay are all communication buses used in automobiles. May be if possible, you can get a OBD connector and hookup the scope on the CAN bus on the car to look at all the packets going across different modules in the car.

    Very nice . Time to write a letter. Dear Santa, I have been good (kinda/sorta), I would love to see an MSO5000 under the tree this year. PS you will get extra milk and cookies !

    Did the mix signal wire came with the scope? Or you had to buy it separately? Thanks!

    Why did the square wave from the clock on analog Channel 1 look like it had lots of overshoot? Is this because the probe had not been compensated?

    • @IMSAIGuy
      @IMSAIGuy  3 года назад +1

      didn't look bad to me, the probes are calibrated. might be due to a poor breadboard circuit and grounding

    Anyone know of any scopes with ACTUAL logic analysis? (e.g., sequencing, conditionals, etc.)

      tek MDO has some primitive advanced triggering. But if you wanted to do this you probably want higher memory depth too. You should just get a dedicated LA.

    How much $ for mixed signals probes?

    • @IMSAIGuy
      @IMSAIGuy  Год назад

      no such thing as a mixed signal probe. the logic analyzer probe is about $350 which is more than a probe. it contains voltage programmable 1GHz comparators.

    Rigol and other Chinese Mfg. are giving Tektronix a run for their money. Hard to compete when you have to pay US engineering salaries not Chinese engineering salaries. If you ask me there should be import tariffs on any of these foreign items that undercut the US labor market so much.

      I was talking to a fellow HP engineer who built expensive microwave frequency counters. Even back in the day he said the counters were manufactured by an OEM in Singapore then sent to the HP facility in Malaysia for test. US manufacturing disappeared decades ago.

      @@IMSAIGuy Yes I know. Trade tariffs should have been in place decades ago also.

      Yeah they do give them a run for their money in the hobby/diy/amateur segment. But for military - rnd - universities - metrology ... Any respecatable field. Tektronics/keithley's competitor has/is been (HP-Agilent Technology) now Keysight. There is also Rohde & Schwarz and a few others . . . There is not that many companies that has experience in the GHz range when it comes to designing probes and asic chipset.

      It would be impossible to cover the scope in one video, and I doubt he will cover the entire scope as there are many features.

      For real? This man just got this new instrument and needs to read/learn a bit more before he gives out (for free I might add!) information that is accurate, and for that you will simply unsubscribe from this great channel? I honestly do not understand this... Fred
