Wow. Perfect. I recorded this myself, and fancied it pretty faithful, but this is so much more intricate and beautiful. The guitar work is flawless. I love the little slide at 0:06, which I don't believe he does on the recording, but he did that kind of thing all the time and it fits right in. I'll be stealing that if you don't mind :P. The vocals are wonderfully soft and understated. Fabulous work.
It's def on the recording and I think it's a must for this song because without it the riff sounds sorta hollow, falls flat. But ya with Elliott, the guitar is sooo hard to learn because of how he wrote, layered and recorded his guitar tracks. Basically you need 2 or more guitars on any given song to truly do them justice haha but this cover is spot on
Jeez… You absolutely crushed it. Captured the essence of this song so well. Now I wanna learn it but I just started Independence Day today so it’ll be awhile before I’m ready for another one haha.
man theres so much low effort crap Smith covers on here, and then theres you, quietly nailing it, rhthym and feel and tone and everything. awesome and now i can try to learn from this video, so thanks
wow, you've done such an amazing job. Such a nice voice too. You should write your own music if you already don't! This is a pretty hard song to play and sing and do it justice. You nailed it!
really great man, the 2nd chord is a kind of open G playing G and B in the 6th and 5th strings and all the other strings open, try it, you're really good, thanks for recommend me your channel, you have a very nice voice too, I'm looking for your originals right now :)
His right hand technique looks and sounds very similar to Elliott Smith's. Something I've been trying to figure out for a long time. He doesn't seem to be using a pick, and the way he strokes the strings makes it sound very similar to Elliott's style. Can someone help me out here?
Most likely a combination of pick and plucked, I haven't tackled this song yet but it's next so once I figure it out I'll come back and help ya out. I can tell you that this particular song, like many of Elliott's, is hard to emulate properly because of subtle intracicies needed for the song to flow. Unlike a lot of tabs that you can pound out in a couple hours, Elliott's songs I find I have to reeeeally work with and practice much much much more often. Condor Ave took me months, whereas most songs I can learn in a sitting(or at least enough of it to work). Elliott was a master at his craft, and I'm convinced there are other songs that simply can't be covered properly without the use of a second guitar or even a third in some cases. When people cover his stuff but just strum the basic chords it really doesn't do the art any justice
Benjamin Hager He's basically loosely strumming with the nail of his index finger, and playing the bass notes with his thumb most of the time. Paul McCartney used a similar technique
Elliott described it as a bastardized flamenco because he was interested in flamenco but "not good enough to do it correctly" or whatever, so basically he uses his thumb and index finger primarily and the other fingers maybe brushing the bottom strings. kinda hard to tell, but maybe watching some flamenco guitars and fucking around with that style might give you the start it gave Elliott.
He could have singed in singles .. maybe not yet .. Wouldn't need to do that at down times for me though .. One day said shouldn't have done this and that .. but we have to make sure that go throughout and keep togetherness of livery loathing things you know whenever possible and make reminders .. not easy to do much-loved much-needed of forgive and force forgetting for living and the same mistakes remain.. makes you feel loved or cared about while you walked away working out your own life ways .. البعيد عن العين بعيد عن شرهم و ضرر ضرعها .. بس مو بعيد عن جوالين ..
Hope you aren't telling someone you ar very jealous just because they don't like you .. they seem to have seen your angry fromage from where they lived .. one day they were referring to too as much many times and more without having people who care if they are ill or illegal or their ora is preached or things aren't going well for their good force and God friends .. They thought they need much more help while they only needed a reminder .. of their coursework benefits .. maybe from the mayor role not only the same thing from the past year role .. maybe Mayberry .. maybe its just not you and me .. simply waiting..
You really unlocked the magic on this one.
he unlocked that mysterious second chord and that right hand rhythm! marvelous!
This is my favorite Elliot cover of all time you’re so talented mab

Actually you're right he improvised the slide, I thought you were talking about a part of the verse
Wow, you have a beautiful voice. Very jealous.
I think it's awesome how Elliott used some of the same music/verse riff for LA on Figure 8
Im going to learn this song now, thank you. I really enjoyed watching this you are crazy good
This is devastatingly beautiful

This is honestly even better than Elliott’s version
