- For the upcoming festival Amsterdam Electric Guitar Heaven 2012 (7-16 december) Meindert Bussink talked to Adrian Belew about guitars, guitarists, guitar technology and guitar education.
"Amsterdam Electric Guitar Heaven 2012 celebrates the electric guitar like no other festival in the world. Ten Amsterdam venues, including Paradiso, Bimhuis, Melkweg, Tropentheater, Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, and the Conservatory of Amsterdam will present all styles of electric guitar music from 7 December to 16 December 2012.
For ten days, Amsterdam will be drenched in electric guitar music - rock, jazz, metal, world music, experiment, classical and more - performed by international guitar heroes like Andy Summers, John Mayall, Adrian Belew and Jan Akkerman, and by other excellent musicians, and guitar innovators.
In every show, there will be something extra - a surprise Second Act -, one which will contrast the main act with a different style. There will also be clinics, a guitar market, presentations, the "Plug & Play" orechestra with Adrian Belew and 200 guitarists, guitar films and the "Sena Young Talent Guitar Awards".
I'd like to thank Adrian Belew for sharing himself with the world. I've always enjoyed his approach to guitar playing especially in King Crimson. Listening to this interview is even more enjoyable. I'm also glad I got re-connected to King Crimson and Adrian Belew via internet exposure.

I remember that time in his life when he was sick and had to stay home because he caught Mono. He spent most of his time in his bedroom playing day and night. I'll never forget private family concert he gave us which he called, The Shrinking Grape...most jaws fell open but I loved it. I was his cousin. Love you Stevie!!
