  • Women’s professional basketball is coming to Toronto in May 2026, according to four people with knowledge of the deal. The sources, who aren’t authorized to speak about it, told CBC Sports the announcement is expected to be made on May 23 in Toronto. The WNBA has not confirmed this move. The league initially told CBC Sports “we continue to engage in productive conversations with interested ownership groups in a number of markets but have no news to report at this time.” In an updated statement sent to CBC Sports after publication, the league added “the granting of any expansion teams requires a vote of the WNBA and NBA board of governors.”
