Hey y'all! Thank you so much for the love on this video! I want to address a couple of ideas that keep coming up!
    1. Sheikah. How on earth I did not consider that of course "an Impa" of the Sheikah tribe (the appointed guardians of the royal family) would be the possible caretaker of the child of Sonia and Rauru is crazy! I do think this is most likely what happened. Later on, the Sheikah would learn from the tech of the Zonai and go on to develop similar machinery!
    2. The Ancient Hero's Aspect. Many have considered that this creature is the child or a descendant of Sonia and Rauru. I say no to the first option as I doubt the first calamity happened so soon after the events of Sonia and Rauru (not to mention, and Sheikah wouldn't have been able to develop their tech so quickly...at least I don't think so). But I also don't think the hero is a descendant either. My reasoning is because there's clearly "a Zelda" in that tapestry depicting the events of 10k years ago. This might seem to be strange reasoning, but never in a canon Zelda game have Link and Zelda been siblings, not Link even a part of the royal family (and it stands to reason that the ancient hero they depict is another "Link" as it always has been). Why does the ancient hero have such mixed features then? Okay, I don't have an answer to this. It's possible that before the Zonai started dying out, they had already bred with Hylians and we just didn't see those people in the memories. There's a lot we don't see in the memories, such as the fact that Zelda talked at length to Sonia about Link. :) Just some thoughts! :D

    • @jeremias717
      @jeremias717 Год назад +2

There's nothing concrete to say that the Zonai died out. All we have to go off is Ganondorf's statement that Mineru and Rauru are the only ones left. They may have died out, but they may have simply left Hyrule back to where they came from, which strictly speaking, does not *need* to be the sky, that's just where Hylians perceived them arriving from. So, maybe the Zonai left Hyrule briefly, some came back, interbred with Hylians, and a new hero was borne of that union. I think this is more likely than all Zonai dying and the Hero's Aspect being a descendant of Sonia and Rauru. Or maybe other Zonai were just hiding away in Hyrule and the broader society in Hyrule did not know about them.

    • @naikrovek

@@jeremias717 Ganon doesn't even say that they died out, he says that Rauru and his sister are the only two to grace Hyrule with their presence. I've been viewing the Ancient Hero's Aspect as a physical representation of a balanced "Triforce" (or whatever they called it in this era; the triple force that in Zonai society is represented by owls, dragons, and boars). Courage = Rauru = Zonai traits, Wisdom = Sonia = body paint, Power = Ganondorf = the red hair and digitigrade legs + tail which are traits other iterations of Ganon have had
I don't believe that the body paint we see on the Ancient Hero's Aspect are markings that he was born with, because those same marks on Sonia were not markings, they were body paint, possibly traditional Hylian body paint, so when we just remove the body paint, we're left with something that looks very animalistic. If not a representation of the Triforce, maybe this is how the ancient Zonai looked before they evolved and came to look more like Rauru and Mineru?

I'd argue there's enough to imply the child exists, but I'd much prefer if they at least *mentioned* or shown that child even once.
Not only does Zelda still exist with both of her ancestors' abilities but Rauru refers to the fact that "even if something were to happen (to him), he's already taken steps to ensure Hyrule would be fine (without him)."

If I may speculate even further I think that the caretakers of Rauru and Sonia's child would likely be the precursors of the Sheikah. Sonia straight-up says in the game that she, Rauru, and Zelda share a blood connection, so there MUST have been a child off-screen that we just never saw. More than likely they were being hidden away from Ganondorf's forces. Maybe on the other sky islands? The murals at the beginning of the game say that the Zonai (Rauru) came down from the sky, so there must've been other sky islands, and for the skydiving ceremony where we get the Glide set, the Steward Construct tells us that the ceremony was a coming-of-age event for young Zonai. Maybe Zonai society functioned like modern Gerudo society, where, when young Zonai reached a certain age, they went to the sky islands and went through certain trials, culminating in the dive ceremony, after which they were officially recognized as an adult/a full-fledged member of Zonai society. May Rauru and Sonia's child was in the sky undergoing these trials during the Imprisoning War?
    re: Rauru's line in A King's Duty
I think Rauru was a victim of his hubris again here, tbh. He has no frame of reference and no future sight to tell him that Zelda's future actually happened (will happen), so he thinks that Zelda being sent into the past was an anomaly that wasn't supposed to happen. He's still operating under the belief that he, the Sages, and Zelda will be successful in defeating the Demon King (and avenging Sonia), and he only realizes he's wrong at the very end, right before he seals Ganondorf. In that cutscene he was speaking from a place of hope, not fact

Also, the 2nd option isn't valid because if you go to the area just before the imprisoning chamber near the end of totk and blow up the cracked rock, you see extra historical panels. One of which depicts Zelda's sacrifice. So yes, it was always going to happen.

The ancient hero's aspect seems to at least confirm that the hero of 10,000 years ago was a descendent of Rauru and Sonia, but there's no way that they lived as recently as 10,000 years ago... So it kinda makes the mystery more intense; Sonia in the memories seems very untroubled, even un-surprised at being related to Zelda... And as you pointed out Zelda says see met "wonderful people" that sounds like more people then the individuals we saw in the memories.

I'm not 100% sold on the theory of the backstory being a rewriting of Ocarina of Time, but a point in its favor being that they've had a child and that child was the contemporary Zelda of the day, who was spirited away on the day of the Demon King's Rise to safety.
Nintendo never fills on these plotholes so we're left to speculate. Maybe the eventual DLC will give us more memories, but for the time being, I'm not holding my breath.

I think a good question is how old their child/ren was at the time Zelda visited; The series isn't a stranger to parentless Child Rulers; see Spirit Tracks.
They could've been watched over by early Shiekah or Steward Constructs, maybe even just the era's Hylian Knights or something, until they were *just* old enough to serve as the ruling monarch.
    On the other end, Rauru and Mineru have silver/white hair, but there isn't any present evidence that they were born with that hair color, their hair could've been red like the Ancient Hero's Aspect and then simply aged to grey/white;
So Sonia and Rauru's child/ren could be teens or adults out exploring other continents.
And personally, Sonia's body type gave me "mom bod" vibes. Add the parental vibe (at least that I got) when she interacted with Zelda... It's likely Sonia had experience handling anxious young teens/young adults.

We know that Sonia is a relative of Zelda, but that is rather vague. Zelda could be a direct descendant, or a descendant of a relative of Sonia. She and Rauru either did had a child, or she's just one of the original Zelda's (Skyward Sword) descendants, and a different one (a cousin or something of Sonia) took over Hylian rule after Sonia and Rauru died and that is who the other Zeldas are descended from. This is where all Zeldas get their darkness sealing power from, because they're descendants of Skyward Sword Zelda, who is the goddess Hylia reborn. But yes, you're right, evidence suggest that Zelda is a direct descendant of both Rauru and Sonia

I personally like to think that Hylia herself was one of Rauru and Sonia’s earliest descendants. That she was really a mortal girl who only SEEMED like a goddess.
After all any descendants after them would have both Light and Time powers. We know from Botw that Zelda’s light power alone can create enormous waves of holy light as well as levitation and extending her life span to at least a century, all without a secret stone. And we know that Sonia’s fully fledged time powers gives her some extent of omniscience and time travel. Couple those two powers together and you have a Goddess-level being.
So this is what I propose: after all the Zonai were gone Hylia was to inherit the throne since she’s their descendant, and being the Queen of Hyrule whilst having both Light and Time powers earned her the title of a Goddess, and therefore the “old Gods” saw her fit to guard the Triforce, to the point where even the Zonai erected Statues of her in tribute to their old King.
In fact I also believe Hylia was league with the Zonai and that they were the ones in charge of the Skyward Sword islands and the cloud barrier. And we know from Skyward Sword that some dragons were in league with her anyways, and the Zonai are humanoid Dragons.
Tbh I’m still thinking this through, but I got faith in this theory. It’s a great way to explain how Zelda’s light power came from both Hylia and Rauru, and it’s also a great way to connect Hylia with the sages. And it would explain why Mineru knew nothing of the Master Sword beforehand because Totk(past) happened before Hylia’s time

I think we do see a Zonia/Hylian Hybrid. The Ancient Hero aspect
It specifically states that it gives the appearance of the ancient Hero, not transform the wearer with its traits, transform into HIM
This ancient Hero bears claws, has a snout, green/grey-ish skin. Yet shorter ears than the Zonais we've seen, Hylian in proportion. What if he's a descendant of the royal family ? What if at some point, the Princess and the Hero were siblings ? After all, while the Princess is ALWAYS blood related to Hylia, the Hero is a reincarnation of the soul, it wouldn't be far fetched that, by coincidence, two royal children would have both duties of Fate.
Now someone may point out that in the tapestry, the Princess is shown as a Hylian. But so is the Hero. The Ancient Hero has a tail, which isn't in the tapestry. It's clear that the royal family erases Zonai culture from their history to some extent, maybe to make sure the seal of the Demon King remains a secret so that nobody has any ill idea to try and set him free. Which comes with the price of changing the race of their ancestors to be Hylians to hide the Zonais from the common people. Which would mean that biologically speaking, Hylian blood is stronger than Zonai blood and that through time the Zonai side of their appearance faded away to be replaced by fully Hylian children, aside from the power aspect since Zelda still inherited Zonai powers.

I think it was light power from all three. Zelda has practiced her light power way more to vanquish just like Rauru. Sonia wouldn’t have ever “needed” to use her light power since Rauru had it mega charged while she had time power mega charged.
ALSO! I wish I could find this with a theorist… Sonia’s hair and Rhoam’s hair are very similar. It could be that they had a son that was knight training or perhaps he is one of the white haired men that is there for the Gerudo Assault. We don’t know how old either of them are (Rauru and Sonia) and she looks very Lurelin so the caretaker probably took the baby (if it was a baby at the time Zelda arrived) there to hide orrrrrr he was (as is typical in lots of fiction) was raised as the son of someone else and never mentioned even to Zelda so as to protect his identity.
Those two were bangin’ for sure. And the white haired people that would eventually become the Skeikah had to be from Zonai people having intercourse with Hylians.

and this is also the problem i have with the main story
they established Zelda, in the early cutscene with the murals before Ganon ressurection, that she's a nerd for history and archeology, she like to read, learn and explore. She saw some funny figures on the wall and suddenly she's all hype up, giggling up and down like a child. But then the story do a 180 and ignore it completely.
I'd love to see her explore ancient Hyrule with the Rauru and the 4 sages. Zelda would totally be all over Mineru asking nonstop about the Zonai tech and culture, given her love for Sheikah technology was like 90% of her character in BOTW.
but nope, none of that, all we got was Rauru, Sonia and Mineru do exposition for 12 dragon tears. We dont get to see any of Zonai's tech and culture, not even other Zonai people. The secret stone and the draconification was just randomly mentioned for no reason. the 4 sages dont even have a face or personality, they just repeat the same exact prompt every time you beat a temple as if Zelda give them each a copy of 'what to say to your descendant". Not even a special cutscene or unique perspectives on the Imprisoning War. nothing
we dont even get Ganondorf's motive ? like he just woke up one day and decided to send 14 moldugas to kill some people ? and then got mad that Rauru tri-beam cannon-ed it so now he want to destroy the world.
And after Sonia died and Rauru sealed himself with Ganondorf, wouldnt the responsibility to raise and protect the heir fall to Zelda and Mineru ? wouldnt they atleast have to tell the child that their parents are gone ?
its a story where none of the characters have any personality or character trait other than just the role they are playing. and its such a shame because the base premise and the twists are so intersting.

In the side-quest where we translate the floating Zonai tablets, one of them details how Zelda frequently visited Mineru to help Mineru with her research, and how Zelda rode on top of a Construct "like a horse". So she was still her nerdy self in the past, we just don't see it in the main quest/memories

Tbh I love Rauru and Sonia sm, and I drew their child just today.
According to my headcanon, this is how they met each other:
Little ten years old Sonia was running in a field, playing with his big brother's friends. They were so big, she couldn't relate to them in any kind of way, but they played, kinda. All of a sudden, a Zonai girl who was seemingly in her early 20's came to the place, running away from his little brother (they were playing), who almost looked Sonia's age. The younger brother (OBVIOUSLY ✨RAURU✨) looked interested in playing with Sonia, as his sister couldn't keep up with him, and Sonia didn't look very amused among a large group of boys in their mid 10's (edgy 15 y/o guys basically 💅🧍‍♂). They became best friends and grew up, and became a couple when they were 15. They married at 17 (don't come after me, it's the age where you reach adulthood in Hyrule, apparently) and had their first (and last) child at 18. It was a boy, and his name was Raulann. He was 14 when his parents and aunt died. (Rauru=32, Sonia=31, Mineru=43)

Part of me wonders if the reason Sonia and Raru were able to have a kid together was because the Zonai are the descendants of Hylians living in a different area of the sky in SS that didn't lower with Link's wish and began to evolve separately after centuries/milenia apart. This, of course, only works if we assume that the founding seen in TOTK is a re-founding of Hyrule closer to BOTW's time rather than an initial founding after SS which ... NINTENDO, WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO US!

I like to think they already had a child and is all grown up, that is why they act like parents to Zelda because they already are father and mother. Their son or daughter is in another location doing something and when all that happened they just asked him/her to stay away and after Zelda became a dragon he/she returned. Since is not relevant to the story, he/she is not mentioned.

Excluding all that " ToTK is canon to Skyward Sword" nonsense, it's actually very fair to assume that if Zelda is related to Sonia, then Sonia and Rauru had to have at least one son and one daughter. Pointing out that if the tale Impa tells in BOTW is actually that close to the era of the Zonai and the death of Rauru, then that would mean the Ancient Hero's Aspect armor resembles the son of Rauru and Sonai, as well as what would have to be his sister (otherwise where would she have gotten the powers needed to seal away the Calamity). Seeing that Mineru hadn't heard of the Master Sword that Zelda presented to her while she was dying, it's fair to assume it hadn't existed around their time, and so it's by extension, easy to say that the son of Rauru and Sonai was the first to weild the Sword that Seals the Darkness, following with the future heros to wield the same sword in the endeavors to protect the royal family and kingdom.

In one scene, Zelda recognizes Sonia as her ancestor, but nothing is mentioned about Rauru. Sonia and Rauru treated each other with a certain cordiality, but they didn't seem to have anything romantic about them.
I believe NIntendo left this unexplained on purpose.

Man the Zelda lore is confusing, I hope Nintendo makes sense of it one day because it seems fairly likely that BOTW just scrapped (or distanced it so far away that it doesn't really matter) the whole timeline because there's so many good explanations out there proving that Rauru and Sonia couldn't be the first founders of Hyrule. Though personally any time there is a new Link/Zelda I just don't really care about how it relates to the previous games and go with the story as is, after all if I'm supposed to roleplay as Link I wouldn't have any idea either
Time travel stuff is always so confusing, there would be no way Ganondorf would be sealed away unless Zelda went to the past and explained everything. There's no way Link could've saved Zelda from falling because if he did then Ganondorf would've never been there in the first place and so on.. everything always has to happen the exact same way because otherwise the cycle wouldn't exist
Though if Nintendo plans on expanding the story in the BOTW universe it would be nice to see what the ancient hero stuff is all about, presumably it would be yet another Link and Zelda in the long past but without any connection to the "classic" games. Maybe it would even have some references to the TOTK Zelda sacrificing herself (since the ancient hero would've almost certainly been after Rauru's and Sonias time) because they ultimately did make those murals in the castle so somehow word got passed around
Hopefully whatever DLC they come up with will elaborate more on Zelda's time in the past, there's not really many other options story DLC wise anyway since we don't need the backstory of the TOTK sages like they did with the BOTW champions DLC

The War happens, Hylia sends up the remaining Hylian using Mineru's technique (as for the reason we don't see other sky islands in SS, same logic as to why Hyrule's geography changes every game), she crafted the Master Sword and a Robot-like spirit to help whoever holds it (which race has a knack to create robots?), before being bathed in actual divine powers, the blade was kinda weak, Hylia just crafted a vessel perfect to absorb Divine Power to grow stronger, then under the trait of Zelda she gave it a Light blessing.
