Interesting to hear this shootout. I own Pianoteq and all the add-ons and love playing it. I’m mostly happy with Pianoteq but whilst I prefer some aspects of its sound to any sample library I’ve tried or own, there are still a few synthetic artifacts in places. If I were to buy a sample library from this shootout to compliment Pianoteq, it would be ViLabs Modern D.
Which was your favorite? Pianoteq seems to sound better when others play it vs. when I do. Maybe it’s my controller. I’m still on an old Roland MKB-2000.
It's definitely a velocity curve thing. Watch the velocity monitor graph inside pianoteq and see if you're registering velocities all over the spectrum. You'll know something is wrong if most of the registered velocities you're playing are biased to one side.
I'm partial to VI Labs because i know the dev and i helped with beta testing. With that said, i like them all, otherwise they wouldn't exist inside my SSD.
This video is for you to listen and choose a favorite, not me. But to answer your question, they all feel great. I would say Modern D has the edge in playability over the other sampled ones. And EARTH is on par with Pianoteq in playability.

UVI Model D is my fave. Austrian Grand is also great

Play around with the velocity curve and set the condition slider a bit to the "worn" direction" - not straight at "mint".

@@RabihRihana But only you know how they felt / responded to your play. Sound wise - they all great and different (surprised by Roland, actually)
