  • In this episode, we're diving headfirst into the enchanting world of Lambrusco, a fascinating Italian sparkling wine hailing from the stunning region of Emilia-Romagna.
This series on sparkling wines designed for those pursuing the WSET Diploma. If you're on this journey, you're in the right place. But don't worry, if you're just a wine enthusiast looking to expand your knowledge, I've got you covered too!
I'll be your guide as we explore the key grape varieties and appellations that make Lambrusco truly unique. Ever heard of Lambrusco Salamino? It's known for its fragrant, deep-colored, full-bodied wines with a zingy acidity. And fun fact - its name is derived from its grape shape, which resembles a salami!
Next up is Lambrusco Grasparossa, often called the noble variety. It thrives in clay and silty soils, producing deep-colored, full-bodied wines with a delightful touch of grippy tannin. Keep an eye out for this gem in the hillsides of southern Lambrusco's vineyard area, particularly around Castelvetro.
We can't forget Lambrusco di Sorbara, which crafts pale, light-bodied wines with a vibrant acidity. You'll notice those sizable grapes in the picture. It's all about the details, right? This variety thrives in the vicinity of Modena and the location of Sorbara itself.
But wait, there's more! I'll briefly mention other Lambrusco DOCs, like Lambrusco Reggiano near Reggio Emilia and Lambrusco di Modena around Modena. Each has its own unique characteristics, and I'll share a few insights.
Have you ever been to Bologna, Parma, Modena, or tried Lambrusco? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below - I'd love to hear from you!
Stay tuned for the final video in this series, where we'll deep-dive into the winemaking process (Part Four). But here's the deal - Parts One and Two, along with Part Four, are exclusively available on my e-learning portal at www.winewithjimmy.com.
Thanks for tuning in and joining me on this exciting journey through the world of Lambrusco. Ciao for now! 🍷🇮🇹 #Lambrusco #ItalianWine #WineEducation
