Yeah, too bad that people STILL think that we are all bad, when you look deeper, it's other people or otherkin that do worse stuff. No hate on them just saying that furries are like the innocent good twin while otherkin are like that evil twin.

To be completely honest I would love to go to this years con, it would be my first con ever and I think it would be a fun and interesting experience. However the more I think about it the more I get cold feet. I don't personally know anyone that would go with me because I live in a very "set minded" area, if I were to mention this to any family or my few friends I'd be laughed at or possibly disowned. I'd be too uncomfortable to go by myself, I don't do well under pressure especially when surrounded by strangers. Big crowds and strangers make me extremely anxious, but doing this would help me in the long run. I just wish I had a buffer, someone who I know more than the rest, to help deal with my issues..
Maybe it would be easier for you to start off small. Go to local furmeets first to meet a few people. Then local small cons to build up your confidence. The big cons will always be there whenever you are ready for it.
