i was raised dutch but i've been fluent in english since i was 12±. i have loads of bilingual and multilingual friends. apart from switching languages like you said, being bilingual has only brought me positive things. i think it's great to raise children multi lingual because it expands their idea of words and their vocabulary!

For those wondering, sleep training a baby is when you try to sync your baby's sleeping schedule to your own. The most coming method of accomplishing this is by ignoring your baby's bloodcurdling screams for help
It's basically cognitive behavioral therapy. Changing behavior in psychology. It works and they use it on kids with autism too also known as ABA therapy.

TheFlowMind As a bilingual raised dude, I don't see this happening. I have the pronunciation down on both, but its the vocabulary I struggle with. Especially because I read almost exclusively on English, but speak Spanish 90% of the time. So I end up speaking Spanish and using its phrasing structure and replacing the verb or noun to English if I don't know them in Spanish.
TheFlowMind There is a lot more to speaking a language perfectly than just having accent free pronounciation. Even people who grew up bilingual will have problems when it comes to broader vocabulary.
It's a tricky thing and parents really need to commit but if they succeed in teaching their children both spanish and italian it'll be great.
They'll automatically learn english because they live in Usa...I wishes i had this chance without year and years of study....
JamanWerSonst I've seen bilingual people and if the parents are really using their language in their house the grammar, vocabulary and the accent will very good. Even if they are not perfect it's still a skill that they acquire with a lot less effort that someone who started studying it in school...

Yeah, I'm talking about vocab you don't usually pick up in day to day life. Stuff you need for political discussion for example.
Growing up bilingual is certainly a very good thing, but it doesn't mean that you speak two languages perfectly. To speak a language perfectly you need to grow up in a region where its spoken. Otherwise you vacabulary won't be as big and you won't know as many pharses, have difficulties with accents (recognising and imitating them) etc.

Besides the adorableness, one serious benefit of having twins is that both parents HAVE to be equally involved because one person literally CAN NOT take care of two babies.

I worked as a nanny & babysitter for over a decade and I can tell you right now, the sleep training method is a whole bunch of nothingness that just stresses out parents and makes the kids way more attached and frightened of sleeping. So many American parents love it and yet listen to Zoe to hear of the stress (vodka to put kids to sleep??). I would work for new mothers who read all these fucking books which just made them go crazy and controlling, rather than trusting their instinct. I no longer babysit but I still want to rip my hair out l when I hear someone talk about that sleep-training in-and-out every fucking 15 minutes bullshit. I got tons of diverse babies and toddlers to sleep on their own without that fucking method.

Sleep training doesn't work. It's a temporary "fix." The kids always regress later. Instead of sleep training, get extra help. Don't ignore your baby's cries. Sleep training at 6 months is wrong. Don't do it, moms and dads.
