Hi Dimitry - We don’t recommend to place the hives on the floor as the floor can be wet, cold or dirty. Placing the hive on a shelf or plastic box is preferable. After transport or handling a hive, bumblebees can suffer from some stress. When the hive is opened immediately after placing, stressed bumblebees might fly out without performing an orientation flight. Let bumblebees adjust for some time before opening the hive.
Hi ya_uz, we do indeed include food inside of our hives to make sure that the bumblebees arrive in top condition, but depending on the location it is possible that there is still food inside the hive when you place it in the desired location. In that case it can take a little longer for them to fly out as they don’t need to look for food yet. However, there are many other factors that can have an impact on flight activity (e.g. temperature, light, etc..) so in order to pinpoint the exact reason we would need some extra information on the conditions in which they were placed. If you have any further questions we suggest to contact your local Biobest representative that will assist you with all your queries.
The lifespan of a bumblebee is very variable in nature. A queen can live up to 24 weeks, while a worker lives 4 to 12 weeks while drones (male bumblebees) only live 2-4 weeks. The Biobest colonies have life spans in the field varying from 4 to 12 weeks depending on which type of commercial hive you would be ordering.

Dear Biobest Group, why do you recommend that the colonies are placed 0.5 m above ground level and are only opened after 30-60 min after placement?

I bought one box of bumblebees from Biobest a week ago. But bumblebees do not go out of their box and pollinate. Can you suggest something, please?
The box come with a lot of food inside...they don't need to look for food yet...mine flew out on day 4.
