I’m just curious to know what preventative measures you are taking to avoiding pathogen spillover was well as distributing non-native bees species around the globe. So essentially I would like to know what makes these bees any better than honey bees in the sense that they will not become invasive to other species which are native.
Honey bees need more attention like collecting honey and cleaning etc. These bumble bee hives are left to their own devices. They also work at lower temperatures than honey bees. The most common bumble bee species are bred to not interfere with ecosystem.
Hi Erick, one standard colony of bumblebees includes a queen, workers, brood and sugar water. So indeed, drones are not in the hive at the time of shipment.
2:59 I'm just curious, are the bees able to breathe with that plastic wrap around the boxes? They must be able to, it just doesn't look too healthy in the video.

Is it possible for Koppert to breed endagered species like Bombus affinis and Bombus dahlbomii to prevent their extinction??
We rescued a bumblebee hive over the weekend. Please check out what we did and give us any feedback.
I love bees!
This is awesome....came here from future learn

@@katieb2599 do you know if there is a queen in the box?
@@and22and22 possibly
@@katieb2599 I want to raise bumblebees here in my country but I do not know where to start
@@katieb2599 where are you from?
nice work.
Amazing
Do you remove drones from the colonies prior to shipment?
That doesn't answer the question

@@Koppert_Global no drones means not intentionally desire for procreation
@@Koppert_Global so then your hives are at a disadvantage being you house no males in you hives that could refresh and poplate adjacent colonies?
The colony produces males at end of the span..I have these boxes.

If you look closely it's actually netted stretch wrap.
