I am an ADC player who will never play top lane in ranked, but I will use this knowledge for when I play norms with Cho'gath and Ornn because I just bought their cute April Fools skins. So thank you.

My main in Toplane is Shen, for just one reason: So I can teleport out of that hellhole as much as possible.
The top lane in LoL made me wanna leave for DotA. I simply don't think it makes sense gameplay-wise for the top lane to be unforgiving as it is.
And the best way to bypass is playing as boring as possible.

8:45 the only reason he didn't lose much farm here is because he ulted back to the lane LOL. Without TP, most champs would have lost quite a bit if they recalled there before the canon wave, no?
Yeah, it is so easy after level 6 to push a wave back, I do this many times, push a big wave, recall, by the time I come back, I have lost the entire wave, so technically the enemy gets ahead of you unless you have TP or Sion ult.
That's why tp is importance, especially early game since lose 1 wave could mean a lot so if you were in a bad position and need a reset, or get gank and now facing the pressure of the enemies crash into your towner and lose your xp and gold, so tp come in to help you navigate that bad situation, Sion R is just a huge replacement for tp so you can switch tp to something else like ghost + flash, or flash + ignite, etc.... and also his passive help with setup wave, crashing wave and so on, that's why Baus abused those thing so effectively, but it's does not make Sion op, it's just make up for what he lack in mobility and so on. What Im saying is that, every toplaners can apply this strat as long as they bring tp with them, it's only rotten range toplaner's brain with flash + ghost trying to cheese will get punish for it in longer run
Good catch. That's honestly our bad for using Sion as an example, but I promise you that in the majority of situations you can get back to lane in time to pick up the wave. Sometimes you're a bit late and lose a few and sometimes if you recall really late you'll lose the whole wave and have to use Sion ult or teleport. The way you can tell how much time you have is by looking at your next incoming wave, the further away the more time you'll have since it mirrors where the enemy's next wave is too.
It’s champion dependent. Higher wave clear champs especially garen make it very difficult to get a bounce back. You have to pretty much do a proxy wave clear and back asap so they dont dont end up pushing their wave under your turret before you get back to lane

This video officially made me quit being a top lane main. Its just such a unforgiving lane. Wave management isnt fun. I dont feel like losing an entire game because I took a bad recall.

Honestly, it is pretty ridiculous how different midlane is. You can literally just push over and over. Roam to other lanes or annoy the enemy jungler.
Repeat. And it's crazy how many junglers just rotate between bot and mid over and over. I think Riot has really failed in trying to make top less of an island - despite the added toplane objectives.

It doesnt really apply for midlane. You see, in top, after you set up the big crash and the recall, the opponent has to clear and recall to avoid being behind in items. The result is that the first guy who crashed will return to a big wave and get the xp lead, not the item advantage, as the other guy also recalled, just xp.
This should then become a back and forth unless the guy that defended the crash does not recall. But that is quite the point of the set up. If you recalled and he didnt, when you receive the wave, you have the item advantage plus the lvl advantage. You only need to trim the wave to 4 minions and freeze it as long as you can. If he comes close, you trade, you kill him or force him to recall and he will actually lose a wave or 2.
But in mid it doesnt really work like that because there are mages. So if one side recalls and the other doesnt. You cant really freeze it due to longer ranged spells that will eventually make the wave crash.
The only realistic thing you can do is to build up a wave, crash it, recall and get the xp lead. If he doesnt recall, you also get the mana and hp lead. Might want to call your jungler to get him when he is overextended so the enemy burns flash or he retreats and allows you to keep the freeze for a few moments in any case. You then use your mana, hp and lvl advantage to bully him out and make him recall and lose a wave. But that requires you to actually hit your skills.
What you can do instead is to dance in and out of the maximum range of your opponent and making him miss his spells on you. then, after that ability is down, you can try to hit him and the wave when he has to go for a last hit.

I understand now why ranged top lane is so hated now. They can basically skip this turn based slow push cycle and harass you or farm with smaller risk from minions or trading with the other champ.

I have a little trouble with the first part of this video, Champs like jax,sett,darius,olaf,riven,pantheon, Quinn,vayne...etc can actually just run at you lvl1 and you'll die before you hit 2.while your minions do basically nothing. Like first example if Renekton had just started autoing, wouldn't change that fact other than him being chunked and his lane pushing away.
Isnt the darius example on push lead very poor choice of champs? Darius will run almost any champ down on lvl 1 and if rene was hitting minions the lane would push towards darius side allowing him to zone rene from xp and gold even harder than usualy.
I honestly would like to know your thought on this since I as P1 Ornn OTP would just stand away from first bush and wait for Darius to do his "brrr, must-hit-things" strat and just farm under turret until I have items to fight him. But maybe I just have PTSD from how many times Darius players cheesed me on lvl 1.

i am pready good at laning now i feel like i am diamond 3 rn but i often find myself in a situation where i cant carry because sometimes i make some mistakes after laning phase i know carrying in mid to high rank rquieres to do some risky plays but i feel like i fail that a lot of the time
this is amazing content and i love what i learned. now it's riots time to step up their game with rebalancing teams and tiers. when i do all this in toplane to get 1 kill and 1 plating, my teammates will do a grand tour of most amount of deaths in 5 minutes, whilst screaming at each other like little babies.
This is all very solid advice. It's not gonna make you a god tier player but it will absolutely help you out of low elo. I'm D1 which isn't anything crazy but before I learned all of these things I was trapped in bronze and silver peaking gold. I could've saved myself a lot of hours of play time and struggle by watching this. It may seem like simple obvious things because that's what they eventually become but when you don't know or understand them it can be the difference between silver and diamond.
I mean Zed vs Renekton obviously can't walk up to shove the wave into the tower. Renekton always has the option to freeze in that matchup...

this channel is good for teaching u the basics and sure they are very usefull but they forget to tell u many things that can go wrong with every single decision they present. Easy, the enemy jg keeps camping me mega hard and buys vision for the top lane. Apparently they think the game is won from top. Meanwhile my jg doesn't do grubs, dragon or gank any other lane.
Their jungle being laser focused on you, so long as you don't feed kills, means they're losing farm, xp, vision and giving your mid and bot lane space and lack of gank pressure to make plays.
It sucks to be in that spot but as long as you're keeping them tied up, you're providing value to the team. Of course we can't help the rest of the team be good, but at least we can help them be the best version of themselves

Nasus is stronger than people expect early. You can't trade like a donkey but he can catch people by surprise especially after 6 with a sheen. Also his life steal makes it hard to push him out of lane if you aren't pushing your wave with E.
@danielboulos7749 nah dude , i started playing trundle , i am on an 11 match win streak with him , and played vs a nasus ( i expected him to be very weak ) but his w full countered me and his e was insane poke . Still won in the end but it was close

Because they don't ever look at minimap, get afk all game playing their sidegame, and don't matter what, never listen to pings, all miss, extremely overextended, the whole team danger pinging them, no other lane with pression nor objectivies up, and they just ignore everything, it's like they are 2 elos above what they deserve.
This reminds me that riot should fix bot matches, we don’t need two bots on top or super aggressive ai

Everything is true, except for the fact nothing here matters if you get counterpicked by a range top laner that also giga scales.
And thinking just "do well" against counter picks, is heavily downplaying the enemy advantage on draft + underestimating enemy.
Especially how much gold advantage range vs melee match up is being generated.
Before anyone tries to reply my comment, just remember Ornn and Chogath tank top were buffed but only otp plays them due to how aggressively unfun it is against Range top. Considering Vayne and other range top are meta, + karma top is still fresh on people minds recent patches.
And for people who think just play properly. Just look at WR having shorter game time, there's no one sane people playing the bruiser/tank top. Its all range/assassin. Cause why bother playing a class that has a short ass time of window to win the game, when you can just pick range/assassin win the lane while also scaling to late game.
But I climbed two divisions top this season :(
Yeaaa but Remember if you do early cheat recall you will ALWAYS(90% of the time if next wave dont go on the enemy tower)lose 2-3 mele (xp+gold) Minions from your+ if you will recall on lvl 3-4 then enemy will have faster lvl then you (5 lvl vs 4lvl) so he will have more resist,armor,DMG and HP. Cheat recall is risky af.

This guide is soo generalized that it doesn’t really apply to all champions like Kayle or Nasus that need to farm under tower.

Edit: You can also make the wave push back into you even tho the both waves should go in the middle (neutreal psition). You have to pull the enemy wave by pulling them to first bush in top lane

the easiest toplaner for farming and shredder tanks is Illaoi
It's all about getting the last pick, you counter pick, and then get lane dominance for free.
okay but the third wave you push in as your cheater recall example @5:00 is right outside the tower and the only reason you get to push it in is because of matchup. if darius or olaf or tf with ghost is there you cannot push in that wave that close to tower without getting run down. you pushed to fast in your example of not pushing to fast lol.

Using Darius and Renekton as an example is a poor example IMO. Renekton is weaker than Darius level 1. Darius is standing in first bush to cheese Renekton if he walks up too far. If Renekton hits the wave then Darius can walk out with W level 1 and ghost to pressure Renekton while the wave pushes into Darius. Darius can then trim the wave at his leisure. I can't agree with making fun of Renekton here because if he were to just push out he could very well die or lose sums in this situation where the Darius is already camping first bush for level 1 cheese.
youre mostly repeating the same stuff in your videos. im not saying that its bad because i like them and they are helpful to say the least, but are those things the only thing you need to get out of the lower ranks? (iron to silver)
You’ve ever played a sport? car raced? Studied in school? There isn’t a cheat code to it that’ll propel you to the top, it’s just repeating what you know and learning new ways to go about it and keeping consistency if you do that then you’ll climb
Nah bro learning all the ground work like this carries you from iron to master. There's no secrets it's discipline and applying all the concepts you've learned every chance you get.
You can't even begin to understand matchups and how counters work or when you can and can't roam and things of that nature if you first don't learn when you are advantaged or disadvantaged in any given wave state. What creates counters is how laners interact with the wave relative to one another but you first must understand waves to begin with.
My own experience playing in iron/bronze is that people down there fall into two groups. Actually skilled and toxic or just bad. You'll beat the people who are just bad, but it can be really hard to beat people who are just straight better mechanically, but lose because they're toxic to their teammates. The key for those matchups is simply to not die and eventually they'll do something super stupid.
Keep in mind the most important thing to have in that elo is actually mental. ALL games in that elo are always winnable because so many mistakes are being made.
That being said, once you get higher elo these are the basics that let you climb more.

Yes, they are enough. If you play it good enough and with consistency, you should be able to take advantage of your opponents mistakes and win the lane.
Once you do that, you will learn how to maximize said advantage.
Then its just about learning the macro and stay split pushing all game long forcing the enemy team to send 2 or 3 people for you. Eventually you will crack the inhibs.
If you are consistent, you will win more games than what you lose, thus, rising up in the ranks.
Once you reach out of silver, is a whole different story. You will have a harder time winning the lane, and you will have to actually group for objectives. But split pushing with items and lvl advantage below gold will take you there.
And meanwhile you doing all this your bot is going 0/18 and your jungler is afk farming :D
good video , you guys forgot something tho , u begin taking the push and then sudenly u get level 2 ganked ( by a strong lvl 2 jungler like lee sin , j4 etc) and you die . Next the wave is in a horrible spot because you pushed it in and its now frozzen and u you can no longer do anything , enemy jungler is topside , your jungler doesnt wanna help because its soloque and he doesnt understand toplane or just doesnt care and you just lose , gg jg diff u cant do anything , this video is situational
Easy solution. Ward enemy buff level 1 to make sure they aren't starting there.
@@burritogod59 yeah , u forgot smthing too , you get caught at 1 minute trying to ward enemy buff , you die at 1:25 or so , and if you dont have tp you already lost from minute 1 , if you do have tp well -1 spell + you know you cant push and your enemy will cheater recall on you and you lose again
@@burritogod59 there is no easy solution in league on anything , everything can go wrong in so many different ways . Im an grandmaster toplaner my self so i know many of them
@terrorking8893 in grandmaster your jungler is good enough to punish an enemy jungler ganking level 2 with only red buff. That strat hasn't been viable in ages in high elo. I call BS on you being grandmaster. You just want to complain.

1) If u mean punish by invading and stealing camps so what , the enemy will go take our camps with the top prio he got with the lvl 2 gank
2) Even if he actually punishes that doesnt mean that the enemy jg didint destroy your lane and u cannot lane anymore or that he doesnt have any other options to play if my jungler stole 2 camps.
Lastly i dont know where u saw me complaining , i just stated a few facts and situations that can go terribly wrong that are not said in the video and you have to adapt on them to be a good laner.
