- Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird opens up to ET’s Deidre Behar in a wide-ranging interview about her life, career, family and ongoing struggles with her mom, June ‘Mama June’ Shannon, who’s currently 14 months sober after battling drug addiction. Pumpkin discusses how tough it is to watch past episodes of their family’s reality series, and why she’s so grateful that she worked many issues out in therapy. The 21-year-old shares an update on where her estranged relationship with her mom stands today, plus, she weighs in on Mama June’s boyfriend, Geno. Pumpkin doesn’t mince words when she says she hopes Geno isn’t in the picture much longer, and reveals if she thinks they can ever peacefully coexist. As for Pumpkin’s younger sister, Alana (aka Honey Boo Boo), she reveals how the 15-year-old is doing amid the family’s troubles and if she’s still living under Pumpkin’s roof. Pumpkin also candidly addresses her health journey and shares the surgical procedure she's considering. As for Pumpkin’s goals, she admits she’s ready to say goodbye to the world of reality television after over a decade of putting her life in front of the cameras. Instead, she says she’s aspiring to become a nurse and pursue a more traditional career path. However, Pumpkin also adds that she’d love to continue entertaining her fans by starting a family TikTok or RUclips account. ‘Mama June: Road to Redemption’ airs Fridays on WE tv.
Pumpkin is so grown up and so mature she was the one I didn’t think would be the most mature I’m so proud of this young lady.

I agree 100% , the reporter was very respectful while asking hard and personal questions, she showed empathy towards Lauryn and was very positive on her own achievements as an independent woman, plus her presentation with makeup, hair and outfit was on point
Pumpkin and dodo are the only adults In the show that are actually good. Jennifer and sugar bear are bums for doubting pumpkin and Josh on this journey .

These reality TV shows never pay people enough, especially when they make a mockery of them. It’s terrible. Pumpkin should be getting paid a lot since they have a lot of international fans, she needs money for Ella and Alana.

Yes Pumpkin HAS stepped up- especially for her age, but let’s not forget about JOSH..... he married into this mess. Honestly Pumpkin is more balanced than her Mum. She has a lot of wisdom and has found her place in this world. Incredibly mature and personable. One thing Mama June did right for sure. Pumpkin stands behind everything she says, she is a huge part of this show and would be missed greatly should she retire from the cameras, although I understand why she’d like to give that all up. Well done Pumpkin!

Maybe having a RUclips channel would work out better- Pumpkin could choose what she does and doesn't want shown about her life while still connecting with her fans and honestly I know RUclipsrs who don't even have huge channels that seem to be making more money than Pumpkin's making on a national TV show. Agreed. Just an hour ago my husband and I were talking about YT channels and how much they make. You see people buying a half million dollar house within a year due to a YT channel that doesn't even have as many watchers/views/followers.
These family issues should have never been displayed for the world... that being said, the girls were left out to dry by June, and if doing this show means they get to earn some money for their family, then I’m all for it. I love watching Pumpkin grow up and take charge. She’s incredible.

Her kids do always stay, but she obviously takes advantage of their loyalty to her. As a mom, it really pains me. I imagine Pumpkin feels terrible as a momma too. You just can’t even fathom doing the things that june has to her children. I wish that someone would help these young ladies so that they don’t have to be worried about how to get those shoes, and whatnot. Even help Pumpkin get her nursing career going.

I honestly think about Anna frequently. It's easy to forget that June puts her children in those dangerous situations when she constantly goes on and on about how they're the most important thing in her life. That's a lie.
The older sister, Anna has the same management and has been advertising this weight loss drink, that Jessica has also advertised.

June just said that because she knows that what she's supposed to say, but she already chose Geno over her kids. If she meant what she said she wouldn't still be with him and Pumpkin would've probably been much more open to speaking with her.

Mama June and Gino do look well but we can tell how all this drama with your mom ,plus seeing how it must have really hurt Alana losing her mom to drugs ,I have a family member who got into drugs and I know to an extent what you have gone through ,but thankfully it got better for my family member ,so your in my prayers that it will GET BETTER for you and all your family ... My husband didn't grow up saying I love you like that either but with our kids he/we always tell our kids I love you when we leave or hang up the phone and just whenever we want to say it . Pumpkin reminds me of myself growing up so fast dealing with addiction just all of it she's doing a great job
