Just got mine from DCP a few weeks ago! It’s so stunning in person - a work of art. The craftsmanship is on point and I didn’t expect anything less coming from Tama. It sounds soooo good at a higher tuning. This snare does have a lot of ring so I ended up putting a very small Meinl Honey Gel on the batter head, it helped balance the overtones of that ring perfectly without completely muting it. It has such a great crack and sings so well, love it!!! If you’re eyeing this one, go for it before it’s gone!
Sometimes I wonder why I personally gravitate to all things Tama. Then, I hear and see another Tama. It is sonically and visually over the top. Absolutely the finest in the business.
It's been almost 50 years since I first discovered Tama in a magazine advertisement with Billy Cobham. I was amazed at how strong the hardware appeared and the boom stand with counter weight. It's just beautiful equipment, and still solid.
OK... I'm not typically a fan of brass hardware, but damn! This looks amazing with that wood tone. The satin finish with that blingy hardware just works. WOW!!!
Greetings from Holland, bought this snare 2 weeks ago, there were only 2 in our country. Sounds even better when you are playing it yourself! Thanks again guys for this review, love your channel!👌🏼👍
The Creed cut away makes me miss the Zildjian Z Customs. I like the drum in lower tuning. I bet this is because the two heads are closer in relation to each other verses when the top head was tighter, but betting is for fools. Steam bent/one ply/no glue/solid piece of wood/whatever you prefer to call them drums sound awesome. Get your hands on one one day. Might find yourself saving up for a future purchase. I'm also glad Shane tuned this during the video. Tuning is not as hard as one might make it to be. It takes practice, but what doesn't. The tighter the lug, the higher the pitch of the head. The pitch of the head goes down when you loosen the lugs. Stop whenever the drum sounds to your liking.
In every tuning range, snares on or off, it was the perfect sounding snare drum. Must admit, it is such a beautiful drum that part of me was listening with my eyes. For the limited production availability and high-end build quality I would have thought it would cost even more. Happy New Year DCP, you guys just get better each year.
Not paid to say this, became a new customer of DCP this last year… I have to say the customer service is top notch and the items were on time with outstanding packaging and obvious care. Cant say enough.
I always wanted an art set after seeing Simon Phillips fat punchy oh yeah plus he played Remo clear ambassadors top and bottom on the toms at least whoa
I just spent my life savings on drum stuff for Christmas and now you post this the day after?!!! Lol. You guys just know how to torture us drummers don’t you?!!!
Hi everyone at DCP! By this point I'd assume everyone knows that Tama is releasing a bell brass snare in January and I'm guessing you guys are gonna have quite a few of them. It would be amazing if you could do a side by side of an original 80s one and the new one. BTW this snare sounds amazing love all your videos. Have a happy new year everyone!
WOW no die cast hoops! Finally!! Die cast hoops are not my cup of tea respectfully. Wish drum companies would give us the choice when it comes to pricey snare drums. Peace
I'm starting to suspect that this dude just knows how to tune drums the way i like to hear them. Put this same drum on another YT channel and I'll probably think it's boring/average.
Tama is the king of drums right now. Everything they put out is tops.
Nice middle ground between a wood and brass sound. The higher tuning definitely sounded the best to my ears. Beautiful looking drum!

So glad you love it! Thanks for the support and yes, it is a truly special drum!
Beautiful drum! I like how Shane went back and forth with the tunings, made it for a more thorough comparison imo.
Ooooh that high tuning ❤
That is one great looking and great sounding snare. Thanks for the good work,. folks.

I just ordered one in Spain, can’t wait to lay my hands on it!
Was actually nice to hear you tuning it out of the box, showed the character of the drum
Sounds wonderful. I have a craviotto ash that is one of my favorite snares. Underrated tone wood
Deadly snare drum excellent at the high tuning.

this snare is a piece of art! Responsive and great looking
This snare is awesome. Great vid as always.
I had to come back and say how damn good the hats sounded as well.
Glad you liked it!
My God, it looks great!
And sounds even better!!
And at ALL tunings!!!
Definitely has that Tama sound. Great drum
Beautiful snare drum! Please tell Tama to print that wing logo on T Shirts,

Sounds punchy and agressive i like it
Sr. Shane ! Que Tama belíssima e que som fantástico. Parabéns por ter na DCP essa obra de arte. Abraços !
That’s a great piece of ash!
Those wires are shorter and thinner/lighter. I've noticed if you can adjust them looser and get less rattle and more fatness
When TAMA bring back their awesome Japanese made Maple 🍁 *Artstar* and the Birch 🌳 *Grandstar* Drums, then I’ll be impressed! 🤞🏻
That's what i'm waiting for since many years. Would be great. And hopefully with the same looks
I always wanted an art set after seeing Simon Phillips fat punchy oh yeah plus he played Remo clear ambassadors top and bottom on the toms at least whoa
Loving everything about this drum!
I just spent my life savings on drum stuff for Christmas and now you post this the day after?!!! Lol. You guys just know how to torture us drummers don’t you?!!!
😂 SORRY!
@@drumcenternh in honor of the Christmas spirit I forgive you!!!
That’s what I said
Sounds like a typical good sounding snare drum.
I’ve spent about three times what my wife paid for my kit at DCP. It’s all her fault
Sounds great! And with these brass hoops....wow
Great and very musical snare from Tama. Also, Nice Sonor HLD 590 bronze on the shelf in the back, just like mine 😊
Drool, drool, slobber, drool. No other words are needed.
HERE WE GO!! DCP = Top Shelf! 💯 🥁
🤘❤️🤘
Oh yeah! Higher is always better, when it comers to snare drums!
Man.....that whole Star setup sounds deeeep! But, that snare is other worldly.... *drool
Amazing 😻 beautiful snare
So good. Beautiful drums.
Is that a BEAUTIFUL AMAZING very special snare drum...... you bet your ASH it is.
Lol! Corey Feldman?! You guys are so cultured!
Love the snare, though, of course! Great video, great demo. 💛🥁🎶
"Go 4 It" is FIRE
@@drumcenternh Yeah... I'll just have to take your word for it. 🫡
Sweet.
This sounds soooo damn good
Sounds as good as it looks!
Sounds amazing. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It sounds amazing.
It sure does!
Unboxing ! The best Time in drumming life
cranked slays!
Lower and Medium tunings seem to suit this snare best. The high tuning seemed to dry it up a bit, and lose some of its charm

Hypothetically this sounds like something that could occur.
Sounds like a combo of Wooden & Metal Shell? ( the only thing that would make it better is using a Speed King Pedal ! )
we
AMAZING!! Is this snare only for your company or is it going to be available somewhere else? Aka Australia? haha
Amazing snare 😊 (whats the red Tama drum key at 2:20?)
Good eye with the red drum key...
yeah!
I'll make it brief...WOW!!!
🤔 ... Huuuhhhh, who ever "thunk it..." *_"GORGEOUS GEORGE..."_* IS REALLY A *_TAMA STAR_* SELECT SNARE DRUM!! 😨😲🤤
P.ost S.cript... *NICE CHOPS SHANE!!*
sounds amazing, my problem is the brass and chrome hardware, I wish the chose one all over
WOW no die cast hoops! Finally!! Die cast hoops are not my cup of tea respectfully. Wish drum companies would give us the choice when it comes to pricey snare drums. Peace
What bass drum is that?
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Mmmmm drum
Dear God! ❤
With the last tuning it was perfect. Don't move it from there.
I think you have the bottom head too tight. Try loosening that up and you’ll get a fatter sound, I would think-nice dry studio sound.
lol yeah you got it figured out dude, THEN it would sound ok. Loose bottom head = too fat, 80’s sounding lameness.
Top essa bateria
Killer
I can't stop looking at the Sonor in the back, Looks like it's tilting and going to fall over ☹
That’s hilarious dude I miss my sonor vistalite style kit phil had a set…Rudd that is
Link not working to purchase this snare drum -
Fixed!
@@drumcenternhThanks
I felt in the higher was choking out a bit, lost the beautiful overtones
Sounds better tuned higher, IMO
Daddy like.
$4000 is certainly less than $15000!
I'm starting to suspect that this dude just knows how to tune drums the way i like to hear them. Put this same drum on another YT channel and I'll probably think it's boring/average.
For $1500 I was expecting something spectacular, but this is not the case
Limited quantities = high price.
Weak snare, but the drumset sounds great.
Weak? I thought it sounded good
And a great responsive, snare drum
Ehhh, does not sound 1500.00 good.
Have you not yet learned that drum pricing has absolutely nothing to do with how they sound?
