    Like Seiko shook hands with Mido, then shed a few hundred dollars in cost. Very sharp, great specs, refined look, price on point, customizable too, impressive. Just their stylized W would've been nice, instead of brand and odd model name on the dial. Micros are killing it over the big brands!

    The purpose of having that type of knurling is for anyone who spend his or her time underwater "diving", "snorkeling" or "swimming can easily turn the crown to adjust Time & Date due to wet fingers or having fingers turn to prune - that's the function of Wise Hitman Dive watch.

    I was only in the Wise website a few nights ago & saw this Hitman. Honestly Peter initially it didn’t do much for me as I thought it was another generic Tudor homage. Having said that seeing it in more detail in your video makes it a lot more appealing. Sometimes pics just don’t convey how a watch really looks. Anyway another good review & definitely a watch worth consideration!👍🏼

      After living with this for a while now on the wrist, I must say its easy on the eye and on the wrist.

    VERY impressed. I bought a Seiko SPB143 for £950. Very nice but came running -30 sec per day and a stiff, slightly misaligned bezel. Wise obviously are customer focused and regulate their watches, where Seiko don't.

      Yeah I hear that a lot Alex about Seiko. It's an unfortunate dilemma that they have not fixed regarding quality control..Yet, consumers still buy the watches and as a whole I think we should start complaining and expect more from such large manufacturers in the watch industry

    Their hit13 grey sunburst dial and black bezel really calls me. I have been wanting the spb143 but they keep selling out and at $1200 you could buy almost 4 of these WISE watches. That classic bracelet taper is a really nice touch. Although I do not know why they called it hitman and would prefer they just left the name on the caseback leaving a cleaner dial. This will definitely scratch the itch for spb143. NH35 is a reliable movement. Great Job... I noticed you have 3 of these now from one of your latest update video. I know don't want to let this one slip by. Thanks again mate!

    • @PeterKotsa
      @PeterKotsa  3 года назад +1

      Each of these three are perfect..no issues, QC is perfect and the finishing is also spot on.
      I think $1200 for a Seiko (btw the Seiko has a stainless steel bezel insert) these Wise are all Ceramic and Lume filled.
      Also the bracelet on these with the taper and quality is much better than the Seiko's version..the Seiko one rattles and doesn't fit well
      So for me it was a no brainer to get three 😊

I haven't gone towards the vintage route as there are to many variables mainly with if all original and been taken care of, as well the cost... Looks like you're becoming the "down under" ambassador of the brand, really pleased this is happening! Btw, if possible, ask'em to lend you their Bomber (red dial please!!!). For the price this is a very nicely put together package. I find no faults with the watch and actually think the crown is more functional with that more aggressive style which gives the user more grip when winding it. They really should consider using the logo on the dial instead of their name. Really if I had to pick out one thing I dislike about this watch it would be that. Exquisite case finishing (at any price) and nice to see so many customizable dial combinations. The design is actually what I would call "The perfect modern dive watch design". I just wish it also came with a no-date version.
    BUT! If Zelos and others can give you an on the fly adjustment clasp AND a Miyota 9-series movement for the nearly the same price, the Hitman is in tough competition.
    Also, what's with the "$600" price tag? Has it ever been available at $600? Seems like a 'clever' marketing-ploy into thinking you're getting the watch at almost half price...

    Wow! You can clearly see the quality, attention to detail and refinement of this watch. What a beautiful piece. But I personally, at least at this point, just doesn’t want to buy a micro-brand. Brand name although isn’t everything, it’s still something to me as my collection is small. Maybe when I get to the point that I’m able to own many many watches then I’d certainly like to add a nice micro-brand piece like this one.
    What amazes me is how the microbrand manages to get a lot of what the consumers want packed into their watches. I understand that bigger brands have big expenses and so on but even when charging a lot of money, most of the times there are always the small pet peeves that you wish they could’ve done better when paying that much.

    Impressive value. On the moans and niggles section, the fact that you only mentioned the absence of a glidelock ( even a BlackBay doesn’t have one) and the crown knurling says a lot.

    Black dial with red bezel and red second hand with black date 😍 I think the crown is good as it is the other type tends to look very industrial to me rather than classy but I get your point. Do you know what currency the $325 is. Aussie or Yankee dollars. Hopefully Aussie.

    *I'll pick at one nit; the name logo font is too large for my taste.* (I'd still buy it, it doesn't matter enough) *I like the crown and would prefer it over the finely notched bezel edge, because the crown as delivered gives the watch an authentic diver look & feel. A finely notched / knurled crown edge is too dressy for a sports or tool watch.*

    Not a bad looking watch, but nowhere near the beauty and intrigue of the WISE Diver. I recently picked up the red one, and it's pretty much perfect. I generally like watches that do something a bit different. The Hitman just doesn't differentiate itself enough from so many of the other dive watches out there. It's to classic looking. Blends in just a bit too much. The WISE Diver is truly its own thing. And no, it's really nothing like the Seiko Tuna. Only one minor thing in common, that's all. These WISE guys are doing a really great job, even if the Hitman is more of a miss.

    I do prefer the YN55 movement from S. Epson also known as the orient kamasu/mako/Ray caliber they have date and a day date, same price as the NH30 series but made in Japan and in my opinion more accurate, a domed crystal would look much better.

  • @brianmsahin
    @brianmsahin 3 года назад

    Spot on, the case and bezel looks very Black Bay, the 12 and 6 markers are a carbon copy of my Mako XL. A very good mix of styles!. On the negative, the price is high for the NH35 movement and no matter how you want to put it, that backplay is very bad. Every bezel with backplay will pop back into alignment so that's not an excuse. I'd be very unhappy to pay that price for such a loose bezel. If that arrived on my doorstep I'd want my money back. I don't want to sound harsh, but that backplay is what you'd expect from the cheapest of the Ali Express watches.

    • @PeterKotsa
      @PeterKotsa  3 года назад +1

      Hi Brian
      I probably didn’t explain that bezel action properly.
      The back play is not a forceful thing, it’s spring loaded somehow and automatically pops into place
      It’s not like I had to move the bezel backwards to get it to pop into place, it’s pretty well spring loaded and automatically pops into the correct spot
      I was forcefully taking it out of its proper slot and then allowing the spring to pop itself back into place (I hope that makes sense)
      It really is a pleasure to use and very precise indeed (I stuffed up in my explanation of it 🤔🥴)

    Yeah, it's a nice watch, etc., yada yada, but for the same money you can get a gen-u-ine Swiss made, ETA-equipped Glycine, or for a little more a Tissot or even Hamilton. I understand economy of scale, but it's still hard to justify spending real money on an Asian newcomer when other, imho better value, watches are available. That said, great review and very enjoyable, as per usual.

    • @PeterKotsa
      @PeterKotsa  3 года назад +2

      Cheers Jon,
      You've got a point with the Glycine etc..
      I suppose for me, having lived with the first 300m diver that I review 4 months ago and seeing not only how it has worn really well omg the wrist and kept amazing time...but the LUME has been on a much better level than my Seiko divers, that speaks volumes to me.
      I suppose at the end of the day, a decent Swiss movement would be great, but for a tool watch at this caliber, from what I can see, they have spent the dollars on great lume, excellent case finishing, sapphire/ceramic and a really top notch bracelet (wearable experience).
      The only thing lacking in these offerings is an on the fly clasp and higher grade movement...that's for sure..
      Thanks for sharing bro, great points and totally agree..much appreciated

      @@PeterKotsa Well, it's certainly a dilemma for microbrands since the compromise has to come somewhere, and, generally speaking, people don't really seem to care much about movements (which to me is very strange indeed). But the real heart of any watch is what makes it tick, so to speak, since quartz is excepted, and the idea that any old beater machine is acceptable as long as the lume is awesome strikes me as a bit strange. but understandable. That said, there are practical considerations when using throw-away movements - service cost being the most prominent. But solid case backs should be a requirement! :)

      On a side note, if you check out some of the reviews I have done recently of the watches I have purchased for myself (Rolex, Meistersinger, Fortis etc) I spent my own money and the "sales pitch" or excitement is the same (well thats what I see) ...but in saying that I also point out any negatives with everything thats presented to me..

      Last year I turned back over 35 watches from micro brands because they did not fit my type of watch and style..and to be blunt, i think they were simply cheap. I would have nothing good to say of such watches, so why bother getting them win my channel.
      With the watches I DO SAY YES to, I see potential and many benefits. But like you said, there are always negatives and you really only find them out when the watch is in the hand.
      With this unit...it has been on my wrist and apart from some slight visual changes (crown knurling, logo font) I really wouldn't bother changing anything else albeit a better movement, but NH35 will go on and on and on for a very long time
