Travelling to boston in February on a solo trip, would really like to take in the nightlife. Is it safe for a solo traveller to go out to bars alone? Also do all bars have cover charges
IMO yes, it is safe to go into the bars alone in Downtown Boston. The most lively areas you'll find are Causeway Street, The North End (Union St/Hanover St/Others), Faneuil Hall and Lansdowne Street. Most bars in those areas are going to have a cover charge, at least on the weekend. I tried researching all the cover charges to make a more comprehensive nightlife video but not many post that info online I've found. If you look around there are also plenty of quieter bars in the city and some that I'm sure don't have a cover charge. Cambridge (Harvard Square and Central Square) also have good nightlife options. Also Davis Square in Somerville. The Burren is one of my favorites.
If you're looking in the Boston area some of my favorite places are the Burren in Davis Square Somerville (live cover music Fri/Sat, very busy) - www.burren.com/, the Phoenix Landing in Central Square Cambridge (DJ Fri/Sat, also very busy) - www.thephoenixlanding.com/ . Also Union St in Boston (featured in this video) is usually very busy on the weekend and has many bars to hop around in (next to Faneuil Hall as well which also has some bars/dancing like the Wild Rover, Ned Divines and the Hong Kong). I'm far from cool enough to know them all so here is a list: www.timeout.com/boston/nightlife/best-clubs-in-boston . And yes you'll be fine here!
@@coolatta75 I'm there right now. Really enjoy a New Order and Pet Shop Boys concert yesterday. Historically, the Old State House was a good visit. The food has been good everywhere, and bars and people are very friendly. I've been given free lifts, food and drinks. I plan to see a baseball game and visit Bunker Hill etc
@@TheLostplanet99 That's cool! I live 35 minutes north of Boston. Was there all day this past Sunday. Even a somewhat local guy like me discovered something new about Boston on Sundays. Newbury Street open to only pedestrians. I happened to come across your comment from months ago 😄
Alot of the places from the 90s are closed. I miss the Kells in Alston, Filenes Basement.
Yea things have changed a lot! I miss the Kells too, I lived right down the street from it in the early 90s.

I'll be travelling on my own as a Brit in September. Wonder what the nightclubs are like and if the people are okay with Englishmen over there 😂

Boston nightlife, that’s an oxymoron
