Many happy memories working there from 77 to 90 as a vision mixer, and later as a Director. It was a very special place filled with amazing people.....and boy did we have some fun. For me, it started with 'The Rag Trade' and it ended with 'The Two Of Us'......with a bunch of sitcoms, Dramas and Entertainment shows in between. Too many to list, but each holds a special memory.
Why did it close ? Thought ITV was doing well. Now the sites just say empty. Doesn’t make any sense. Shame, as it’s a great location and a lot of history there. Whilst I never worked there, I visited several times. Great setup and people.
Communities secretary, Micheal Gove has given the all clear for Make’s £700m ITV Studios redevelopment - Feb 2024. I remember the building as new after London Weekend Television moving from its Wembley studios in 1968, did see some shows at LWT, The Rag Trade and Aspel & Co, struggling to remember, now in my late 60’s, did meet the late Dickie Davies from World of Sport, and watched the late Cilla Black in reception one afternoon.
Every time I’m in London I walk down the South Bank to see it covered in scaffolding, all the glass out of the windows and worst of all the words Thames Television Studios over the main entrance that was never removed when they made that Sex Pistols film and use the LWT entrance as a mock up for Thames Euston Road studios. Saying that it’s the longest demolition in history - up there with HS2
London Weekend Television Was Closing Down On 27th October 2002 While Itv1 Still Continue Untill 13rd April 2018 All Program Of itv Daytime Moved Out From The London Studios (The South Bank)
So sad I hate itv now ,glad I was around to enjoy LWT the class of itv ,I’ll miss Kent house the most impressive studio complex ever better than the rebuilt Tv centre in the bush
I visited the studios soon after they opened; a show called ‘Don’t Drink the Water’ was in rehearsal at the time. They had some strange telecine machines with the film running vertically, a bit like a Column style Kington projector, not sure what they were. Why did they close? I thought there was a shortage of studio space in London.
@@DaybreakFanRUclipsChannel I'd love to hear :) Is it just basically massive loss of advertising revenue due to social media, the internet and the financial crash, plus total centralisation and eradication of regional identity once Carlton and Granada had merged to form ITV PLC? Plus some sort of deal they did with the BBC to share some of their studio space at their new building?
And now they're not going back at all. Sad day to see the LWT studios demolished for ever. Makes you wonder why ITV doesn't sell up and let it be taken over by someone who actually wants to provide a television service. It's been a bloody disaster ever since Charles Allen came in and its never recovered since. Even the genius of Michael Grade could do nothing with it!!
Jeezo, you know, apart from ITV Yorkshire, I saw recently on a tribute to Les Dawson & kept to house production of Emmerdale, I don't think there are any OriginaL ITV regional buildings still in use.
This is very fine and obviously a labour of love. Tell me, where did you get your information from as to the location of the studios? In particular studio 4, which hasn't been used for years so not many would remember it was there.

Farewell to LWT building at the South bank 1972- 2018
It was a privilege working there from 1990-96

2018, the last bit of LWT is gone.
I love the LWT Symphony in stereo at the end.
I really miss the Thames / LWT hand over on Friday evening's it meant no school in the morning,
Indeed so there too.
So sad that they aren’t returning now after all. Big mistake ITV
London studio & tower 1972- 2018 😢
This is great, but does anyone know if ITV is going to do an official "Granadaland" style farewell to the building?
Sadly, I think not.
You may have missed one program for Studio 7 and that's Sunday Side Up/Sunday Scoop with Stephen Mulhern/Kaye Adams and Nadia Sawalha
"All shows produced here aren't in this video but main ones I think." ;)
One small correction: in-vision continuity at LWT ended in 1982, not 1992.
That was great, thanks.

Ive been to both ITV Southbank and the one in Salford and for the time the Southbank was amazing but now Salford is much more better for the future
@@TemporaryOofedsad but true but being from London it made me proud 😢

Pointless greed and stupidity, another BBC TV Centre, soon they’ll be no TV studios in London. BARKING MAD!.
Jack Sugden there’s tv studios across the UK
At least tv shows are actually still made at TVC.

I can’t remember where I’m sorry :/ Thanks for the com’s 😉
No that’s Studio 10 at the 10th floor.
Where's the link to the lwt symphony from 1996?
Wasn't 'Mind your language' also filmed in this building ?
Why itv studios london close down
Cost saving, and consolidation of facilities to a smaller cheaper location.

A well swung Fanfare I think
Hey! Don't blame LWT for Piers Morgan's Life Stories! 🤭🤣
They wouldn't have hired him! 😉
How did you find the symphony of LWT?
Got no studios, but we’re really still trying to run a Chanel #joke #bbcstudioworks
