PDH 15 is a fantastic hand e-drum with an array of percussions from around the world, the only thing missing is dumdums. I've had one for 5 years now & I'm still having a blast with it. It's also very usefull as a coach/metronome backgroung percussion ensemble when practicing on the drumset different drumming styles. The best in it's category without question.
Furthermore, with a bit of forethought, one can program equally amazing sound design patches as the 15, albeit not on the fly. And in regards to a better instrument? the HPD-10 has a 6 ms faster response time from pad triggering than the 15;and in the performance world, thats a big difference in regards to 'groove'. Each to their own, and both instruments are great, but I just find the 10 more practical. I own both, and use them 6 days a week professionally, so I believe I have a valid opinion.
I did NOT say that the HPD-15 was not valid. I simply mentioned that the sounds are better (IE they are actually in phase) I stand by my comments on the sequencer, it blows, and do you think i'd really post her if I DIDN'T know how to use it?? how arrogant! and I said the sequencer was unusable , I meant it was unusable in a LIVE context. more under:
I have this instrument. It's really cool. I've yet to "realize" and "maximize" it's full potential. Especially re: footwork. I'm a bassist/hand percussionist. Incorporating my "footies" is a real challenge. Any advice?
They had a demo model out in the percussion area of our local Sam Ash music store. I played with this thing for over an hour. This video does not give this thing justice on what it is capable of and I am not a drummer... I play guitar.
All you posters, Is it really necessary to write such nasty responses and make fun of someone? Are you that unhappy? For eff sake, keep your horrible comments to yourself and don't post. The vid is great, thank you for such a great demo! Thinking of getting one.
"you can play it with your hands... but also with your fingers!" he does the same thing both times. the first time he just uses all his fingers at once.
why not nice at home ? .. u cand go everywhere whit it , to capture inspiration ;) if that is portable ofcourse .. many "machines" like that are equiped whit bateries
what do you mean by "even" bass players, every clinnic or rock school i've been to, bassist have better rythm and coordination than evryone else, even drummers
Get the HPD-10. Sounds far better and pads have a new proximity sensor> the further out from the pads you play, the more the timbre changes..OK, so you dont get the HPD-15 sequencer... Cool! it sucks anyway and is unusable! Viva la France!
It don`t sound as natural or as organic as the wavedrum to me ... it sounds like a hand triggering a roland r8 ...no feeling , just triggering samples ...just my opinion like me ducks :-0
This is the most Passionate & Talented Demo I have ever Seen!
This video is a masterpiece in every way.
I totally enjoyed you demoing the HPD 15. I'm in the process of purchasing one at the moment.

First of all, adjust sounds, kits and settings to your liking and playing style. If thorough it will take a lot of time...
Good, if you want a synthesized version of a percussion instrument.
Max Headroom got some rhythm.

this man could play my dad's bold head as if it was the newest percussion technology! xD
Amazingly awesome!
