I am a long term fan and season ticket holder I love St James Park but I want the move to a bigger and better New St James Park.

It’s a no brainier for those who understand the club is bigger than all of us.
Keep a small club mentality and we will stay a small club, we have to increase our potential and modernise. I love SJP, but times move on.

@@thundabolt7867 We have an opportunity with the owners to build something that will still be special in 50 years time. No matter what you do to SJP, it will have to be done to stay relevant. I’d rather do it whilst we can guarantee having great, very wealthy owners, they may not be around forever.

Great move to bigger and better
Reroute barrack road along Wellington and Pitt Street, demolish the student accommodation on triangle of land and build a new stadium turned through 45 degrees slightly further north into the edge of the park. That would give a huge footprint without affecting the park.
We are behind a new stadium, it just makes sense. A lot of history with St James Park, but we need to look at the future
Not much trophies in the past 70 years unfortunately 😢 maybe a change of venue might benefit on that front

Phase One: The new stadium (pitch and 3 sides) on Castle Leazes while the fans continue to use SJP (without displacement).
Phase Two: The new larger 3 sided stadium filled with current fans. The 4th side then built after the old SJP knocked down, overlapping the old Leazes end footprint. Giving us an 80k to 100k. Generating tons of revenue for the club. The remaining land where SJP was, landscaped/turned into a fanzone area. Leazes terrace gets their view back (not having to look at the back of the minging 1970/80s East Stand any more.

I can see the benefits of building a new stadium. If redevelopment of the current stadium is going to cost one billion, then moving will increase the attendance more.

110% Go for a new stadium. It’s a no-brainer that we build something new now, or take 10 years to get an increase of 20,000 seats….If it’s possible. We need another 15-30,000 seats now not in 20 years time… And that’s before we have success
As long as st James park doesn’t get scrapped and is still used for something I’m happy with a move
I know some people don't want to move, I'm probably one of them... But if someone said "you can remain where you are, and occasionally get champions league and maybe lose another cup final over next 10 years OR you can move, make become the next Man City and compete at the highest level" which one you picking 🤔

@@petermcaskill722 you're right, nothing is guaranteed, our board may do a man utd and spend over the top on crap players etc... but we have that risk already but on a smaller budget.. the other option is to do a Villa or Brighton and sell your best player(s) for £100m so you can wheel and deal in the transfer market...

If we stay at St James we will always be the club we are and we will never win silverware.
Any location has to move a huge number of people in and out, the city centre works because it has the public transport and road networks to do this, as soon as you start moving out from the city centre it becomes a big problem and that has to be one of many factors.

No one from the club ever said we were buying back strawberry place to build a glass structure stand. I went to my first game back in the 70's, the ground is completely different to what it is now. There area a lot of very vocal season ticket holding fans who want to remain at SJP for the nostalgia. Nostalgia doesn't win you trophy, nostalgia does stop the lock out of the next generation of fans. We need a new stadium, we need it sooner rather than later. Just stay in the city. Leazes park is the perfect site, you build there and give the space back to the park where the old site. Everyone wins in that situation.
It wouldn't be a bad thing to have a new stadium. The likes of Man City, Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham have all prospered from new stadiums. Although I'm from the North East, I no longer live in England so it's debatable if I would ever get to a new stadium but it would be good to see. Look at Old Trafford, they've been there for years and the stadium is falling apart. Even Scumderland got a new stadium and everybody hates them.

I think it is beginning to look inevitable that we will have to build a new stadium. It does not make sense financially or logistically to spend £1 billion on an extra 8-10 seats on the current site given the huge disruption it would cause. The location of a new stadium is of course the thing that will give most concern. However the extra revenue generated by building an 80,000 + seater super stadium would allow us to take on Man City, Chelsea etc.
If we want to live with the big boys and navigate PSR with success then a new stadium is a must, but for me needs to part of an experience location, the town moor cries out for lets make it into something special 😉, love the memories at St James Park but if you dont move with the times we get left behind.

A new stadium will come I'm not to bothered i love St James like any supporter but to compete we will need a new stadium to go along with it. But like you i think location will be very important to any fan
The key is FFP. Look at the last transfer window! We need more revenue! if that means a move away from the current location then so be it. We can have all the money in the world but when we are unable to spend it, then it means nothing. We need to push sentiment aside and accept whatever it takes to take the club to the next level and really compete at the top end of the table.
IF a new ground happens and its a big IF........ some are gonna be in for a shock if u think NUFC are gonna put 1000s of season ticket sales up for grabs.
Commercially it makes no sense for the clubs to do that. Plus building on Leazes park is legally gonna be an absolute nightmare. Just cant see it

Its all pointing towards a new stadium isnt it. Id be happy if they basically built a replica of st james although with all sides roughly the same, i dont want a bowl shaped soul less thing . St james is beautiful it just needs modernising properly and the gallowgate and east stand redoing. So if they are to rebuild i would like it to go along the lines of our current stadium but better
Reckon they'll move, PIF will want something flash as the Centrepiece and the concourses and facilities can't be done up ala the Smerican stadiums

Listen you guys need to realize something. The stadium is smaller than too many clubs. If you want to win the it is a necessity. Make sure you have the rights to all the property around the stadium this time. No more apartments on the back side of the stadium.
New stadium 🎉 if you want to buy first team players every transfer window like arsenal, Man City, Manchester, United, Spurs. We are going to need as many seats as they have. If we don't have that, don't complain to the owners that we have had lackluster trade Windows.

I personally would be fine with a new stadium, although I would prefer an expansion and refurbishment. But, the stadium would have to have passion and not become stadiums such as the Etihad that don't have as much soul as they should have.

As much as I'd love a new stadium either in Leazes or one of the moors, it's simply not going to happen. It is all protected land and it goes beyond money. Gonna either be expansion or relocation entirely. Just watched a video on this whole thing and the company who oversees the upkeep of Leazes has confirmed they have had no communication from NUFC in regards to a stadium and the moors are a no go
With respect, the council and freeman through ancient law have a right to donate land to a cultural cause, and imo a new stadium on a piece of the Town Moor land would create no end of culture to Newcastle, NUFC is a massive part of our culture, imo we will get the greenlight if we decide to build a new stadium, either in Leazes park or any part of the town Moor, my preferred site is the site were the Hoppings is, fantastic infrastructure regarding getting in and out of Newcastle, travel wise, plus a perfect size plot and no disruption. Would look beyond awesome. HWTL.

@@Ge0rdieDan_ I Dan, I watched Eddie's video earlier, he's a good kid, but believe me if Urban Green are ever contacted in the near future they would bite the PIF's hand off, it would certainly save URBAN GREEN from disaster, ad they are on the brink now, add, Sir John Hall had the green light in the 90's for a new stadium in the Leazes park it was the 36,000 objections/signatures by the "No Business on the Moor" group that made the Council back down, and even though there would be some objections again, there would be a green light given by the council, after all the Saudis are looking to be putting in quarter of a billion quid in to the North East, and those cash strapped councils will be more than eager to help out, especially Newcastle City Council and the freeman.
New stadiums dont win trophies. Stamford bridge has been no issue for chelsea. The last thing we need is a cookie cutter bowl stadium with thousands of empty seats against lesser teams destroying the atmosphere.

So a redeveloped St. James park would cost a billion and end up maxed out at 62, 000ish. A new stadium with 75,000 will cost two to three billion. Plus a new stadium means business as usual till it's complete. No game day disruption. Arsenals revenue rocketed after they moved to the Emirates. I hate to say it, but to compete with the "big six" we need to move.

In fairness, it's not exactly shocking that we might be moving away from SJP, but it is smart. The Arabs won't wanna spend money increasing stadium size only to start this entire process again down the road. Might as well just bite the bullet. We only rent the ground that St James stands on. PIF need to buy the land and a little bit of Leazes park. Then build our new stadium there. It's parking that would be a problem but we have great public transport links where we are.

Been a toon fan all my life,love st.james park but i do think it's time to move on and build a future proof state of the art stadium and facilities,not just for football,but big gigs,rugby,american football or whatever brings in big revenue. This is simply not possible in the current stadium. To compete with the big clubs here and in europe,it's a must !!! Time to move on people.
