This was a horrible comparison. Like comparing a new born with an adult. Not to mention SEI is far more of an Etherium competitor than a Solana killer.

Sol is my biggest bag, but Sei has a lot of potential. Get both. They can both over-achieve.

Follow the money; don't marry your bags. Money in crypto always flows to the new shiny stuff, basically, narrative is king. SEI is less than half a year old. How would Solana have looked at 6 months old when compared to an older chain for many of these metrics? What will happen to Solana when the memecoin season ends? Look at Doge and Shib compared to their all-time high.

It would be interesting to see solana numbers at 3/4 months after launch compared to current SEI numbers.
I agree. Sei is really early. You can't compare a new born to a pre teen.
@@arneilmarquezstill not a fair comparison. The crypto market as a whole is more mature today so any new chains born today will grow faster than chains born 3yrs ago, and new chains born 3yrs from now will grow faster than chains born today.
@@drwayne_carter9115 it would still be a more fair comparison though. Of course Sol is going to win right now. It's like comparing early Apple to Microsoft or IBM. Not that Sei will become the next Apple, but just an example of possible growth for a young chain.
@@drwayne_carter9115 Still. Sei is waaaaay to early. It still needs time to garner dapps, deals, etc etc. Also needs time to figure out if the chain has some bugs or weak points. The same way Sol had all those shutdowns last year. We don't really know what Sei is really capable of and its weak points.

Sei has better potential profit wise. I surly agree that Sol is stronger right now. We are going to experience a new winners in the bull market. SEI is top 10 winners 🏆 (profit wise). We are in Crypto to make mony. This is the goal. Dont get emotionally attached to large caps projects (low profit).

The "technical winner" is not always the winner. James needs to remember HDDVD was technically better than Blu-Ray but lost, BetaMax was superior tech to VHS but lost. There are many more examples like this through technological advance. I think James puts way to much faith in SOL being the winner in the end.

well when you take into account the size of the multiple moats sol has on top of 35000% more developer production to further those moats its hard not to also put the same amount of faith, but fair enough I do see your point

You cannot compare SOL and SEI, the purpose is completely different. SEI is 100% EVM compatible, this means it will take a huge part of ETH applications once version 2 comes to market. The developers don't need to port the application to SEI since it is 100% Solidity and EVM compatible. This is not the case with SOL. SEI is not a SOL killer but a serious ETH competitor.
Absolutely, you can. Both are L1s with similar intentions, and there are parallelized EVM projects in Solana, such as Neon EVM, addressing this.
He is “comparing” the 2 because of the internet pumping “sol killer” so he is sharing the data to his community. If the internet pumps “sol killer” that means the internet pumpers are comparing the two.
Yeah I have to agree with bruno. they are both defi orientated L1s, you cant really say they aren't. You make a fair point about EVM compatibility though, that is a huge asset and does make it a big ETH competitor. Its worth mentioning that there are several ways EVM dapps can work on Solana
People say "solana killer" because nobody talks about Eth anymore 😅
With 4 developers SEI isn't even trying to compete..only stat needed

I don’t know if you can pull the data but it would be good to compare all these parameters at the same time from launch. Not easy to measure a mature asset verses one that is just being adopted.

I suppose that the better comparison would be compare SEI now with SOL in the past, when Solana was at a similar levels of engagement, maturity, etc...

Thank you James. I'm learning so much about investing in the crypto market. I'm still in nappies lol. Your analysis really helped me. Just took profits on Sei and kept a small position as it does feel a little toppy. I think Solana has this bull run in the bag. Solana market sentiment feels strong.

Thanks James for helping us sidestep some of the new garbage on the market. Newer doesn't mean better. If SEI had the tech but not the traction, you could just say it's "young." In this case, the tech is clearly inferior, so there's no way to bridge that gap... especially with a grand total of 4 developers.

I would say you only need 450 USD in airdrops and it's worth it, and the phone releases during the bull run. Easy win imo

Why compare SOL and SEI? Aside from the fact they both begin with an 's' and have 3 letters, the similarities end there. SEI is EVM parallelisation, so if anything it's a more appropriate to compare it with ETH.
SEI could cut into his model of SOL chipping away at ETH market cap. If app developers have a simpler and equally performant alternative to SOL, which supports their currently existing EVM-oriented smart contracts and applications, they'll obviously choose that.

I stake SEI through validator on their page (with Compass wallet) and I can't find how to vote on governence proposal?
sol is way more mature and older, it became a "safer" investment for sure based on current data. However, SEI is hiring and it has a huge potential of becoming an alt coin gem. They are newborn and have a lot of hype due to its 50% fundamentals and of its 50% pampamentals.

Sei has more potential for upside . Let’s face it and be honest . That’s what we’re here for . Also Sol operates in it’s on private playground which is a limiting choke point Imho. Whereas Sei plays in the big open playgrounds of Ethereum thus giving it way more potential. Potential is key as that’s what drives price. Sol is apparently fabulous but it’s operates as an island whereas Sol is in a vast continental community.

I am looking forward to Sei v2. I believe it has the potential to surpass Sol significantly. Anticipating an increase in TVL and ecosystem expansion for Sei Network after the upgrade is expected. Additionally, Yaka Finance, recognized by Sei as well, is poised to become the main DEX of Sei Network, establishing its position as a liquidity hub and making a significant contribution to TVL. I am bullish on both Sei and Yaka. What is your opinion?
