A personal technique for tree farming I use is to make a large tree using 4 saplings like spruce and chop my way up in the form of stairs, it saves on resources when you don't have the materials for scaffolding, and requires less building.

4:30 use the dried kelp you make to craft dried kelp blocks which will provide more fuel that will last longer than coal does.

A dried kelp block can provide fuel for 20 items. Correct me if I'm wrong.

@@6Alexis8 that sounds about right, and meanwhile one coal can do 8 items. But, kelp is growable, so you can use one kelp block to make two more, and go on forever as a renewable energy source, meanwhile coal... Takes a little time to get unless you are in the endgame phase which you have good enchantments and fortune III particularly helps you out.
I'd say Kelp is the way to go
