I lived in Thailand for 9 years and spoke pretty good Thai, they will smile at you and say bad things thinking you don't understand. This is just a very small percentage. 99.9% are warm, loving and genuine. One of my favorite things was to out the shit talkers.
I love going back to these. The editing skills Kara has are insane now, I’m going to get your course and the way you both speak now is so much more eloquent and “vloggy” if that makes sense. I really look up to you guys, I’m only 27 and I traveled a bit but you guys make me feel like I know nothing…. I can’t wait to travel the world more.
Speaker: "Do not trust anyone who tries to delay your trip" Shady people tell Kara and Nate that it doesn't open until 4, even though the last entry was 3:30 I think those are the people that the speaker was trying to warn you about!!! love watching your videos! you just roll with the flow!
I just discovered your channel when your Everest Base camp videos came up in my suggested feed and I completely fell in love with you guys! You're always so positive and I am now watching all your videos from the start. I went on the Everest Base camp trek almost 15 years ago now and it was so cool to relive it through your videos. :) Looking forward to watching more.
Glad to see you riding the buses in Bangkok. Too many tourists ignore them, but once you get the hang of them they get you anywhere you want to go for cheap!
04:25 in and I'm laughing my head off at you guys. LOL, I feel you. I say something similar when I think a tourist spot is charging much more than my travel budget for the day, except I say, I can eat this much ramen bowls with that. I don't think less of you guys for not going in the Grand Palace ($28 ~gasps~), just being practical. That coconut ice cream with real coconut slices underneath makes me want to travel to Bangkok. Never been. I really like the time lapse the you guys do. Belated, belated Happy B-day!
Back in 1998 I recall it only being about $15 but I may be mistaken. I travel cheaply but I can afford to spend more per day on a 2 week long vacation than if I have to be traveling constantly for a year.

+chiara light I believe he gave the price for the two of them. The entrance fee is 500 baht (about US$14). But I remember just a few years ago it was 250 baht... which I thought was expensive.
The Grand Palace is worth seeing once, but you're correct about doing it early. BTS Skytrain is now operating in Bangkok, so you can now avoid a lot of those Bus, Taxi, and Tuk Tuk traffic jam trips!
soo glad you had a banana roti my fav when I am in Thailand. Enjoy watching your Thi videos making want to go sooner. Haven't seen all the videos but hope you try Som Tom { green papaya salad}. love it
I remember really working hard to negotiate at a stand near the cruise ships in Nassau. I made them throw in two sea shells and lowered the price for the crafted glass (with sand and shells in it). It's pretty fun actually.
Scams in Thailand - classic. The temple is closed, renovated, doesn't open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or pretty much any day of the week. I know that they want tourists to go someplace else with them - but if they don't then people miss this beautiful palace/temple that Thai people should be proud of.
28 for the temple is expensive. Even in Norway it would be. Fun with the squerrel. Sticky rice and Mango doenst sound very good. Weird combo. Shopping for Kara. YAy! I would have gone nuts with so little clothes and wearing the same all the time.
You should get your selves a couple of Malay mens sarongs. They are compact, light, useful for viditing temples and make a good improvised towel. I always travel with one.
When we went to the reclining Buddha I also didn’t wear appropriate clothing and needed to wear a skirt and shirt. 40°C at noon with tons of other people. Glad I did it but totally understand you bowing out of the Grand Palace
Well this is vid #3 and I like what I see. Glad you didn't waste time or money in that temple. Enjoying the trip, talk to you further on - Oh, Happy Birthday Kara!
Kara and Nate... What was the timeframe that you guys were in Bangkok, Thailand ?? Like what month and how was the weather..?? Planning on a trip there, after pandemic. could be awhile. I love your video's, all of them !! LOL.
I have just discovered your Vlogs for the first time today I have watched 6 so far you guys are great I will be following now really enjoyed the ones on Chiang Mai yes a lots of Ex Pats live there and I will be one of them soon
I am watching this from 2020 and I am pretty sure the sun glasses Nate bought are the ones he lost this year on a river trip he, Kara and some of there friends took I cant remember the friends names but have to watch that video again.
You guys should have gone to Wat Pho which is more relaxed and not so pricey and you can actually have a nice stroll around without the crazy crowds. It also very cheap to get in, like 100 baht or something and if you arent properly dressed, to go inside the temple rooms, they give you a gown to put on.
I know the real reason you guys went to Patpong? When I was there I did try the infamous table tennis side of things out of curiosity. It was the most intimidating experience I ever had. I was only in Bangkok one night before flying home. Did a Vietnam - Cambodia - Thailand trip. You Guys need to visit Ho Chi MInh City and Phnom Penh next time you go to SE Asia. Especialy for the Killing Fields as it does really get you emotional and I even fainted when I was there which was not a good experience.
Did you guys go to JJ (Chatuchak) Market? It's a giant place that sells EVERYTHING and super cheap. Alot of the Patpong sellers buy wholesale fron JJ ;) Patpong is quite 'cheap' for a foreigner but imagine buying the same thing even cheaper (up to 70%) at JJ. Look it up in Tripadvisor ;)
Guys, I have an important question. What GPS MAPS type app do you use abroad without having phone service? Do you buy a sim card everywhere you go? When I was in Bali and Singapore I didn't have much luck. Thanks :)
We got an international plan before leaving America, so our phones work in 97 countries. So far the Philippines and Laos are the only places we couldn't use maps, so we just guessed our way around and hoped for the best :) I have heard of people downloading maps onto their phones, haven't ever tried though!
+Chris McNeill if you download Here maps it comes preloaded with worldwide maps and you don't need data.. It's called here maps and you can get it for both apple and android.
Since i saw you guys travel in BKK and ChiangMai really enjoy it. Love u guys together so cute. I saw one clip that you took a taxi and told a taxi driver to train station and taxi said HuaLumPong ? i really like to tell the taxi that "Yes" ^^ Anyway I live in Bangkok,Thailand. Welcome to Thailand Ka.^^
+Tantita Sangwilai glad you've enjoyed the vlogs! There was definitely a language barrier with the taxi driver. We're lucky we made to the train station haha
Best to exchange dollars for bhat at a bank (don't do it at the airport, and definitely don't do it in the US, your exchange rate will suck). Almost nobody will accept US dollars, and if they do they'll give you a terrible rate.
I went to the Grand palace it was beautiful but too many people. I would not go again because it a bit expensive and too many people and some are not too nice. Good choice not to go.
Oops, I bet your not the first travel vlogger she has answered that question for. Thailand is beautiful when not in Bangkok and generally it is same problem of not hazing the tourist as can happen the world over.

The cute little boy running through the birds! Loved that part. Made me smile.
I cant stop going back to old videos!

I've decided you guys HAVE to go on the amazing race! You'd kick some ass for sure!
Palace is closed, so plan B--more food. Why am I not surprised? : ))) Happy birthday, Kara.
" More food, that's how we like to spend our money" LOVE IT!!!!!
I have been lucky enough to have been to Bangkok twice, but nothing beats getting out of the big city and exploring the rest of the real country.
Glad to see you riding the buses in Bangkok. Too many tourists ignore them, but once you get the hang of them they get you anywhere you want to go for cheap!
Newbie to you guys and now binge watching from the beginning. You guys are so refreshing. 😁
I started binge watching the old videos this year when I have a chance

Usually if you aren't appropriately dressed at the temples they will lend you a sarong to wrap around so you don't have to skip your visit.
Happy birthday to Kara! Love the sunglasses!
Just wondering where u got your elephant necklace from, Kara?
soo glad you had a banana roti my fav when I am in Thailand. Enjoy watching your Thi videos making want to go sooner. Haven't seen all the videos but hope you try Som Tom { green papaya salad}. love it
Yes we love us some roti AND Som Tom!
This video was made on my B-day. My fiance's b-day is on the 25th.
Nate's smile with sunglasses was funny 😂😂😂
Happy B'day, Kara.. many many happy returns of the day

Happy very late Birthday Kara!!!
You should get your selves a couple of Malay mens sarongs. They are compact, light, useful for viditing temples and make a good improvised towel. I always travel with one.
Nate is always so money conscious.
Erica Miller that’s a good thing!
I'm with you guys, I'd go for the food......temple later -- dems the breaks.
Major sunglasses upgrade! Lol
Best shopping place in Bangkok is MBK mall and Siam Paragon center you guys should check out one day !
Are those Nate' glasses that went RIP in the Colorado river?
No judgement here. I feel y'all
When we went to the reclining Buddha I also didn’t wear appropriate clothing and needed to wear a skirt and shirt. 40°C at noon with tons of other people. Glad I did it but totally understand you bowing out of the Grand Palace

+Harry Loudon Thank you Harry!!! Yes we are still glad we made the decision not to go. I'm glad you are following along! :)
Kara and Nate... What was the timeframe that you guys were in Bangkok, Thailand ?? Like what month and how was the weather..?? Planning on a trip there, after pandemic. could be awhile. I love your video's, all of them !! LOL.

Far too many people at the temple. I personally love seeing you trying all foods

I think the guy at the back when kara trying to worn her shirt (@3:38) is the thai actor thanapob lee what do you think?🤔🤔😊😊

In Bangladesh, milk with mango and rice together is a very common dish.Try once!

Next time you go to Thailand you should go to cooking with poo (she is a lady who can teach you to cook yummy Thai food!) :)

“Did the bird poop on you” 😂😂😂😂
who cares if someone judges you? it is your money. if you do not want to spend some at the tourist trap that is your option.
Hi u r so like my husband we had a big fight in the royal palace because he said the admission fee was too high to watch some building :P
sweet
if I go visit Bangkok don't I need to take Bhat with me?!. or they use US dollars?!
+Pratyush Ghosh they don't except US dollars. You'll need to exchange for Bhat.

How much would you say it cost a day to stay in Thailand with 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids)? Also, do you know if Thailand is pet-friendly? Thanks!
Pet Friendly ? Oh yeah, they LOVE pets there. Love to eat them. Most of the places in Asia sell dog meat.
RIP Nate's Sunglasses
