It should be noted that the majority of Druze are in fact full Israeli citizens, only those in the Golan are permanent residents because historically they have refused citizenship. However increasing numbers of them are applying for citizenship since the Syrian Civil War. There are no bars to citizenship for Druze in Israel.

I sympathise with Rory,I suffered from migraines for over 30yrs,but had spells when I had none.I was on permanent medication, which controlled most of mine for around 25yrs.Mine could last 4days,my mother would say I looked grey when I had one. I found I had 2 trigger foods, the usual suspects, cheese & chocolate. Not eating chocolate wasn't an issue, but cheese was,I love strong & blue cheese. I found that if the cheese was cooked,my migraines weren't as bad. I ceased taking tablets around 10yrs ago & have been clear of them ever since. I suffered from 15yrs old to my early 60's. Migraines are completely debilitating, and aura is horrible. I get regular migraines, and serious aura around once a month, it’s very very intense and horrible.
Cannabis the only thing that instantly helps my migraine symptoms other than triptans - but triptans shrink the brain & can only be used in very small doses so they cannot be used regularly. Also, getting a headache from migraine medication (Triptans, eg. Sumatriptan) is a bit counterproductive.
It would be great to see/hear a much larger conversation start regarding this - this was a good start.

I’m afraid you got the Druze population of Israel all wrong… there are at least 3 such different groups, of which refugees from the Lebanese civil war in the 1970s-1980s is by far the smallest. The main group are Israeli Druze who had inhabited Palestine long before 1948, and around the establishment of Israel allied with it - they’ve been full citizens for generations, the men serve in the military (and have achieved very high ranks, Col and General, etc). The Golan Druze held on to Syrian citizenship and almost all refused Israeli citizenship (offered to them by law since the Golan’s annexation to Israel), but that has been changing since the *Syrian* civil war - over the last 10-15 years, about a third have now aligned with Israel. This was the community attacked on Saturday.

I don't know exactly how much of it was in jest, but it's funny to hear Alistair's version of what Rory "should have said" on Question Time. Alistair's response is the sort of thing the British public is completely jaded to. It's obvious question dodging, people see straight through it, and it is exactly the sort of careful manoeuvring along the party line that he had just been critical of.
Contrast with Rory, who gave a more direct response. Maybe I am being too nice, but I reckon it's because he had the political good sense to realise that it would be a pretty cheap issue to fix and good political value for money, so he wouldn't get in much trouble. Not to mention the fact he actually had his own moral response.

The problem with Rory's answer wasn't that it was a good answer for Rory and the public, it was a great answer to the public of course, but it gets the rest of the party into trouble. The last thing they want is for a backbencher like Rory (at the time) to say "of course that's completely unacceptable" because the next morning a journalist will be sticking a microphone into the face of the Chancellor saying "senior members of your party are saying this is completely unacceptable, are you going to apologise?" - and then you can kiss goodbye to your hopes of becoming a minister any time soon.

The UK could use the regulatory system set up here in NZ. You make an appointment with a doctor at the cannabis clinic of your choice, you can do a video consultation and you have given the doctor access to your full medical records. He will discuss in detail your medical history. The doctor decides if you are eligible under the regulations and discusses which method of consumption you are best with. He prescribes an appropriate amount for a month and gives you a three month prescription, you can only get one month at a time. You can get it filled at the clinic pharmacy or shop around with other pharmacies for a better price. It has indeed been life changing for many of us.

NZ simply copied California along with all their problems. The hybrid laws being adopted worldwide are mostly modelled off a flawed US non solution. Just look at the daft pricing issues being caused by it. Its a ridiculous waste of time if the solutions are stupid, and the American Way hasn't put a single illegal dealer out of business. In fact Californian legal growers are now illegally supplying Mexican smugglers in order to stay in business. It's very interesting just how messed up they are over all this in the USA and how lazy other legislators are by simply copying a flawed system.

At least we can look at the charts showing terpenes in the various strains and know the properties and strength of what we are taking. It's very controlled as to THC levels and one strain was withdrawn as it was creeping up in that dept and had to be reclassified before being back on the list of those available. The absurdity of the technology gap is becoming more and more apparent with every smart phone and ear bud upgrade released in recent years. My point is that a wireless ear bud (for listening to music or making phone calls) contains essentially the same technology as a hearing aid, but while said hearing aid costs thousands of $ or £'s, the earbud costs hundreds, even at the top end.
I predict that at some point in the near future, especially with wireless links to the compute power available in your average smart phone, (where EQ can be very finely adjusted along with noise cancellation with minimal latency etc.) earbuds will actually be more clinically and ergonomically effective as hearing aids than bespoke hearing aids. The obvious parallel is with Kodak and even digital pocket camera manufacturers becoming irrelevant to most people who have a perfectly adequate camera on their phone.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of hearing aid users are elderly people who do not see the full extent to which hearing aid manufacturers will continue to behave in a predatory and despicable fashion right up to the day they go belly up.

As a result of serious attention to hydration (how you hydrate seems to be as important as by how much) my migraines have dropped off significantly. Probably only relevant for small number of sufferers but still the only causative element I have been able to identify. Ive had regular migraines since I was 10 years old, usually triggered by intense exercise (often 2-3 per week when I was a teenager). The older I've got, the less I've wanted to exercise given the usual outcome, and subsequently I've started now having migraines without even exercising due to (I suspect) lower fitness and weight gain.
I'm now starting regular preventative medication for the first time ever and hoping it helps so I can actually get back into a regular exercise routine. It's such a debilitating condition, and usually people assume I'm just copping out of work or exaggerating that I'm pretty much out of action for the rest of the day when one starts.

20:53 As a scientist working in the development of new oncology and CNS (central nervous system) drugs I don’t think you understand the barriers put up by government and the public to doing clinical trials in children. The perception of using children as guinea pigs is real and the safety margins for pediatric use are rightly significantly higher. It’s not that Pharma can’t make money that drives this, it’s that the costs combined with the higher regulatory barriers makes it almost impossible to succeed. As a result Pharma gets safety data in adult indications and then tries to expand the use of these drugs to pediatrics. Tragically this extends the development timeline by years and prevents the development of some pediatric specific drugs. Also, as an aside migraine is considered a very lucrative indication within the Pharma industry and I have personally worked on several such drugs, none of which made it to commercialization. It’s a tough nut to crack as all CNS illnesses are. The underlying cause is still not well understood and thus it’s hard to design a medicine to control them.

Rory is an encyclopedia of world politics but surprisingly quiet about the long term historical polarization of wealth in the UK and the impact on those who are disadvantaged from birth. I suppose the way to look at it is that at least we have food banks and a relative social safety net. Don't get me wrong, no individual in Britain should be hungry or homeless, ever. It should be a complete non issue. But by comparison, even the poorest in Britain are rich in comparison to a vast swathe of the world. And his escapades abroad attempting to deal with poverty are wholly admirable. We are all world citizens. However, I can also see the side of 'lets look after our own first before we help others'. I then had a very occasional one in adult life but not frequent enough for it to be a big issue for me. As I got to my fifties I began to suffer from them more frequently and this caused me to give up my pilots licence as aura although not blinding could have caused issues when in controlled airspace or trying to land. The main trigger for mine turned out to be coffee which I had consumed large quantities of for most of my life without issue. I have tried many remedies but with little success. I am now totally caffeine free and only suffer intermittent bouts that are fairly infrequent but one mistake when I’ve ordered decaf and I’m off to kaleidoscope land. I hope you figure out what’s triggering yours.

Regarding if its sexist to call Kamala Harris by her first or last name... its not. Its just about how distinct the name is.
We say Starmer because it's distinct.
We say Boris because its distinct while Johnson is a very common last name.
Sunak same as Starmer, its a more distinct name than Rishi.
Same with Biden, Joe is a very common name, Biden isnt. Same with Trump.
Kamala Harris is more just an unusual case where "Harris" is a fairly common name (but not as common as Johnson), while Kamala, while distinct, does not flow too well with the English language, and is hard to pronounce right in some dialects, as covered in the video. But, saying her full name, Kamala Harris, seems to retain the flow better than just saying one or the other.
I think thats more whats going on, its about linguistic flow, distinctiveness, and brand.
