    Thanks so much for your sharing your close encounter with the needles. Having gone to Portsmouth Polytechnic before moving across the pond to Canada, I much enjoyed seeing the Needles. Hope I can sail there one day too 😊. Fair winds

      Well thank you for watching and taking the time to comment, much appreciated. I suspect you have some amazing sailing venues in Canada?

      You are very welcome. I’ve not been sailing long, and live some 1000 miles from the nearest sea, but there are meant to be 10,000 lakes in Saskatchewan and the ones I’ve sailed and paddled on can be fun, challenging and rewarding at the same time. My plan is as I improve to trailer sail further afield and one day sail amongst the Gulf Islands around Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Wish me luck 😊. Fair winds

    Thanks for posting, that picture of the Lighthouse with the Mare’s Tail clouds overhead is beautiful. What a fine day and fine sail.

    Great video. ‘The Trap’ looks like a real washing machine. Everywhere else looked idyllic.

      Thanks for watching 😊 and yes, I think the GP14 ticks a lot of boxes, especially for someone sails solo most of the time.

      @@sailingskismo I was thinking gp14 for myself and I'll be solo most of time. Reefed sail or just main to plod about safely? Great video

      @@jakedonnely4094 Thank you, and thanks for watching. Yes, I normally sail solo and I have two deep reefs fitted. Being able to reduce sail area quickly is such a comfort. 😊⛵️

      @@sailingskismo thanks. Do u think it's possible to just use main all time for safety. Or just jib I'm not bothering about speed just gentle cruising

    • @sailingskismo
      @sailingskismo  Год назад

      @@jakedonnely4094 you can just use the main but if it gets too windy you will need to reef it because you won’t have a headsail. If it is light winds you would need the headsail to help you through the water and to aid tacking. So I would recommend having both mainsail and headsail whether that’s a jib or a genoa. 😊
