Parkrun and the lads who dragged me to it single handed changed my life. Within 12 months of getting dragged reluctantly to parkrun I was off all medication, insomnia was gone, lost 3 stone and still loosing plus all panic attacks had pretty much vanished. Went from a 50 minute 5ker to a 40 minute 10ker, regularly gravel cycle upto 100k and run upto 30k, resting HR dropped almost 30bpm and still dropping, made a load of mates, joined a run club and life basically went from shit to good. All thanks to being dragged round the park one winters morning. Gettng that free parkrun barcode literally achieved more than almost 5 years of various anxiety medications and anti depressants - Well done on the sub 30!
You get it. This is exactly what parkrun is about. Going for a PB, running with your family, doing a Mary Poppins, pacing someone else, being paced, using it as part of a longer run. Having a laugh with your mates, having a coffee after. It’s so so important for mental health and a massive de stress. It’s also fantastic for volunteers some of whom don’t see anyone else during the week. I really missed it during covid. Great video
I started parkrun in January 2019 with a time of 47 minutes+. Five years later and my PB is just under 28 minutes. I'm so happy with myself for that achievement. parkrun is definitely the best thing I have ever done.
Loving your videos Ryan! I've got a challenge to do in July (riding the 21 bends of Alpe d'huez) so your videos are inspiring me to increase my fitness levels. Thanks!
Hi Ryan. Loved this and again inspirational. Truly enjoyed the support roles of your family and please tell your daughters from me that they are just as inspirational as you are.
Thanks David. Great to meet you too. The weekends Parkrun was a new PB for me and will be this week's video. Maybe you're in it. 😅 I appreciate the comment. 🙏 Happy new year!
That is a great sign of the improving fitness (not that you didn't know anyway), that you didn't feel you were doing a sub-30 pace and yet you hit it. Excellent stuff, mate. This video almost makes me want to give a park run a go. Might try one when the weather improves. Hardly ever done any running, though. I probably run like a total idiot.
Great video, Ryan! Really enjoyed watching it and it made we want to go for a run despite it being 6pm on a Friday night! I always find hilly parkruns can be bit of a curve ball. What goes up must come down and all that and it’s surprising what speed you can sometimes make up on the downhill bit. Did you enjoy your parkrun tourism too? Think you’ll ever venture off out to other parkruns in your area? I try to get out and visit other parkruns in the local area with a friend and it’s a real incentive to get up and out on a Saturday morning. Anyway, loved the vid and looking forward to the next one. HNY to all!
Thanks for the comment Luke. Yes you're right about the down hill but the downhill was taken as a break from pushing the ups, I deffo think I have a current faster PB in me which is a welcome feeling than the 'I'll never beat the 30 min barrier' feeling I've had for ages. I am thinking about trying out some others, I quite fancy Chelmsford. Thanks for watching and HNY.
🎉Happy New Year, to you and the family 🎉. Another great time. My local course is very hilly and I find that if you go week in week out for a month, then do a flat one. You can get a PB. Happened at the start of 2023. Oh by the way, I’ve signed up to a marathon in April.
You won't regret it. I started at a small parkrun with about 50 finishers. It was so super friendly. I think that bigger events might not always be as easy to get to know other parkrunners.
My target for 2023 was to do sub 25 minutes, I topped out at 25.18. I did have 5 operations on my bowel during 2023, so hopefully 2024 will be op free and I'll absolutely smash sub 25. Park run has been great for staying positive during a trying time. The wife's into it now too, so I've got added competition😂
I found the motivating kids element of the vid particularly relevant. My 7 year old has just done her 13th junior park run. I find it hard to put myself in her shoes and motivate her in a supportive way without setting unrealistic expectations. she now does it on her own and says her own targets. she's happy so I'm happy.
@@RyanCondonit's all relative, the 2 mates I do park run with regularly run between 18 and 20 minutes. that's the great thing about it, the only person you're really racing is last weeks you.

Wow! Thanks for sharing that comment. I've screenshot it to show my daughters. Amazing achievements! Very inspiring. Welldone you! 💪
That's awesome congratulations 🎉

Agreed. Thanks for posting that and well done.

Well done Scarlett, what a run. So nice to see your dad bursting with pride

Good luck Julia. I bet it's an amazing experience.
I'm pleased you like my vids. 🙌

Thank you Tony! I will do.
First of all best wishes to you and family. That was an outstanding family performance. I will need to start working harder to stay ahead of you 😉
Thank you! Pleased you enjoyed the vid. 👍
Well Done Scarlett! What a little legend!
She killed it. Next Parkrun... Dec 24th 2024 😅
Mate u lucky Scarlett doesn’t run all the time otherwise u would be struggling to keep up😂 great vid mate 👍as always.
@@ashleypeaker that's exactly what I said to her.
Great to meet you at Markshall at the weekend Ryan. Amazing what you have achieved to date. Hope to see you at the next one!

Mate!! You should!! With your HR capacity and power you'd smash it if you pace for 4k and sprint the last 1k. 💪
Brilliant & Inspirational video. I love Park Runs in my cycling off-season.
Cheers JB. 🙌

Train on hills and the flats are a doddle. I make you right there! 😅
Welldone on the Marathon sign up and good luck in your training. HNY!!
So motivating. Want to do a park run now!
You should. They're fun. Thanks for watching.

Even if you take over an hour to do the 5k you are faster than the 99.9% of people who are still in bed! That's the best message!!
Thanks. I appreciate the comment. 🙌
Well done all .😊
Well done both. 😊
Thanks 🙌
Gotta love them hills😂😂
Brilliant running by you and all in the video Ryan. Are you on Strava?
No I'm not on Strava. I make videos about my escapades and put them on here.

@@davidcarthy9077 Thats why I love Parkruns!
a sub 4 kilometer pace? wow!
That was not sustainable, we were in a full on sprint. 😅
5:20-5:40per/k is now sustainable and I'm happy with that for now.
The leaner you are the faster you get. Weight matters especially when going uphill. I hope your wife and kids don't hate you for too long.
