My problem with our team this season is our speed in transition. We complain that teams sit deep in their own half but we are the team slowing things down in the final third, sitting in a shape and passing slowly around the back. Last season where we were so good was when we were getting the ball to our wingers as quick as possible to force 1v1 situations and eventually an overload but this was done by counter attacking with speed and we were creating quality chances. A cross in the box when they have 11 players behind the ball is not a quality chance.
It's not about our forwards it's about our team we work together from the goalkeeper, defenders , through our midfield to our strikers, a team effort............fact

Everyone talking about the frontline (and rightly so), but the midfield is a big problem too. We lack fluidity because there's not enough movement and forward playmaking from our midfielders. Odegaard hasn't found his form yet. And he is right side oriented. We've had this problem ever since Xhaka left imo. I saw glimpses of forward playing from Rice today, but only after being 2 goals down. To me it's mind boggling how we've ended up with such an imbalanced midfield with too many similar styled player. Also Arteta keeps misusing players rather than letting them play to their strengths. Ultimately I think that is the wrong approach and the opposite is something Slot excells at. Im Dutch and a Feyenoord fan too so followed him for a longer time.
Arsenal bought the players, especially the mids (world class defensive mids - to play in a 4:2:3:1 system, not a 4:3:3 system. So you are correct, it's as if Arteta is a man who is doing something and suddenly forgets what he is doing. The Marino we heard we were getting with Partey or Rice would be in the three Middys to play in a 4:3:3 with a Odigaard. I don't like the 4:3:3 because it only allows one of the mids to be a 7 thereabout offensively with 8 or 9 defensive rating. The other two must be 8s offensively and one must be 8/8. So the ideal is DM 8/7, CM 8/8, AM 7/8. This is the ideal strong balanced 3.Mids profile the system requires. Arsenal has a 8/5 - Partey, (9)8/5 - Rice and a 7/7(8) in Odegaard. Thus the issue of threat. It's so hard to profile (find) those players that most coaches would be better served playing another system, but the call of the 3 outright attackers is irrisistable.
One of the main problems is the lack of ambition from the club's board.. if the Arsenal board shows the necessary ambition for the big trophies, u'll see players rising to the occasion. Arsenal missed some many chances, such that they weren't even shots on target! We Attack but our attack isn't as productive as necessary. So it leaves much to be desired. Mikel has done so much to help Arsenal be at the level they're.. but it's been about 6 years & the growth isn't showing in the team, we can't play with a man down against any team, we struggle to win the moment some certain players aren't available.. we loan players that have understood our philosophy/style to being in players who need to adapt to our style.. if we ask for Mikel to go, then we must also demand a manager better than him must be brought in, else we'll go back to 6years ago

Opposing teams should use low blocks when we enter their zone; we should just be looking for goals and not make too many passes near the goal line.

My problem with our team this season is our speed in transition. We complain that teams sit deep in their own half but we are the team slowing things down in the final third, sitting in a shape and passing slowly around the back.
Last season where we were so good was when we were getting the ball to our wingers as quick as possible to force 1v1 situations and eventually an overload but this was done by counter attacking with speed and we were creating quality chances. A cross in the box when they have 11 players behind the ball is not a quality chance.

Odegaard hasn't found his form yet. And he is right side oriented. We've had this problem ever since Xhaka left imo.
I saw glimpses of forward playing from Rice today, but only after being 2 goals down. To me it's mind boggling how we've ended up with such an imbalanced midfield with too many similar styled player. Arsenals's attack philosophy is the biggest problem. New Castle thrives on fast attacks. Arsenal midfielders are slow and take two many touches and they are usually moving sideways. This attack is reminiscent of Arteta. A new striker will come and still struggle if Arteta sticks to this attack system
