Well. You haven't been seeing a lot. One in five women are abused. One in three are raped. This is the real life of women today. It's true you might not see a shoe hit. Because most perpetrators do all this in private. Nice in public. Dangerous at home.

In some cultures, it is one of those 'ultimate insults' to strike a person's face, and to use a shoe (touches the ground) compounds the insult.

Please involve yourself in rescuing women in these circumstances. Your anger is useful. You will quickly find out how complicated it is to get away. And also simple.
In some parts of the u.s. there is important support for survivors of violence. And many places where law enforcement is very much concerned and laws that help them, where someone might be taken to jail. Also common is police that believe what your abuser does. So people are wise to plan when to go, where you can go to, how to keep your children, even resources like food and shelter.
And most important people who give a damn. Want to stop the horror. It's all too common.
Wish it were as possible to send batterers to jail.
      Takes the court.
So it takes time and courage to deal with it all. We should be very proud of women who have given themselves a new life.

What a toxic husband. You should leave when he and mother ststted to control you. When he hit you during your wedding this is not the type of husband you want to spend your life with. You should report him to the police. Your wedding day should be the happiest day of your life not hitting you with his shoe. He should be ashamed of himself. No woman should be treated badly at her wedding day. Its good you left him.

If he is abusing you in public, in front of all those people, what do think he will do to you when you are alone? My God woman, RUN, don't walk away. I'm sure there were warning signs that she just brushed aside. So very sad. Amy is a true friend to always treasure. Poor Ryan. He feels so bad. Yah right. You are not the one who's humiliated. Ryan and his mother are the ones who humiliated themselves. You want Sarah to fix this? You "fix" this yourself, it's YOUR problem now. If your mother means that much to you, marry her.

Unfortunately, restraining orders don’t stop bullets. You might qualify for a restraining order with all the criteria that so you can get one, but unfortunately, if that asshole wants to kill you or hurt you, it’s a free-for-all in the police, contrary to what I believe is their job requirement, don’t always take the person to jail or arrest him or anything. So be aware and get a lawyer get the restraining order but get the lawyer tell him what happened and see what other things you can do to keep that turkey away from hurting you again or from hurting your family. I used to be an advocate against domestic violence, and the women always managed to return to their abusive Husband/boyfriend within a two week time period because of promises that he made to say I’ll never do it again, I’m really sorry and it was all bullshit and lies. Once they start to hurt you, they’re always going to hurt you. Our legal system has to find better consequences for abusive jerks before they kill the woman. One more thing, the police seem to be more than happy to arrest the woman if she hits or shoots her abusive partner and I know that for a fact. Good luck with everything. Also, they do hide what they are really like. Hers hid his real personality for three years. Mine hid his personality for two years and then the abuse was on.

I was in tears as I went through this story. I guess most girls across the planet can relate to such horror. I have had my share of it and it all just came back to me. My Husband's mother left no stone unturned to make my life miserable in every possible way. Even to the point of instigating him to slap me. Despite being a Mamma's boy thankfully he didn't. We drifted apart and lived in separate rooms under the same roof for years. Gradually, my patience paid off and my relationship with my Husband changed for the better. My son, now a big boy, played an important part in bringing us together. Ofcourse "she" could not digest that and till date leaves no attempt to tear us apart again.
Why do these women get their sons married when they can't tolerate sharing him with another woman, to whom too he rightfully belongs? I live with her under the same roof but loom right through her as if she doesn't exist at all. For me she actually doesn't.
18:45 (such awesome lines) I am stronger now, not because of what "she" did. I stonger because of what I did. I walked away.
It was definitely not easy and I had to gatber a hell lot of courage to do that. But I am proud of myself for being able to do so.
To all the girls out there who are still in a mess - walk away. You have the courage within you. You just need to realize it. More power to you.

Ridiculous story. He says “I didn’t mean to.” ??? He took off his shoe and slapped her face with it! What man does that? I know that people sadly, live in abusive relationships, but this story sounds made up. She wouldn’t all of a sudden have the nerve to stand up to him like that if he had been in an abusive relationship. And, I don’t believe the incident at the wedding would have been the first time he hit her-in front of everyone-no… If he had enough self-control to not ever have hit her & then lose it at a public event-their wedding, no less.

So, why would she have her car at her wedding?
It's a good story, but that part is kind of strange😮
I don't think we're hearing the whole story, because they had 3 years to figure out if she loved him enough to put up with his mother, especially knowing how he felt about her. If she did roll her eyes that would have been wrong.
On the other hand if he has a temper and he felt she did something wrong and felt like hitting her Why would he not use his hand instead of his shoe? And also do it in private. If the mother hates her so much, and he is such a mama's boy, then why would he go through with a wedding?
They probably had similar situations over the three years.

Too few women understand the warning signs; &, mistake them for "positive traits." I'm not even halfway through the video; &, can see numerous "red flags." If this is based upon a true story, the gal is really lucky that the POS "blew his cover" when & how he did. I'd go into more detail; but, I need to be getting outside & trying to get a lot done today. The warning signs & the "abuse cycle" are available to anyone on-line...
BTW: Although it's far more common for the female to be the victim; sometimes, the roles are reversed. This stuff really should be taught in high schools, instead of a lot of the pure crap that been getting taught in recent years...

Hard to believe this unless he had a psychotic meltdown.
Most abusive husband's would have displayed hidden signs if you'd been together long enough. To have his mother mother him right up to the wedding day is a red flag. A red flag to have a man's mother involved in your relationship ANYWAY...
he obviously will always need a mother!
Also an abusive man, a psychopath and sociopath will usually hise this well, hurting you definitely where others cannot see or hold him accountable.A real psychopath would never want blame or be ridiculed and seen publically as the bad guy.AND RISK JAIL IMMEDIATELY AND SOOOO.MANY WITNESSES.

These stories are always way too long by way of repetitiveness to watch to the end....point being...if she doesn't annul the marriage and press charges..
The story isn't worth watching anyway

Whats wrong about calling yourself a victim or survivor? Its a put down to tell someone your struggles dont matter. Abuse makes victims. Fighting back with every tool in the book makes you a survivor. Avoiding others trying to victimize you again is real survivor ability.
Its abusers that say dont call yourself a victim. Especially those who have strict expectations of roles.
Especially the lingo of the far right trump types who think women should be kept in their place, which inclu des keeping in private the abuse at home.
    Survivors are the ultimate winners!
