You are right! However, not all people have your pull and power to effect change and that is why we sometimes laugh at what is clearly a ridiculous and dangerous situation. It’s non-essential but it’s apparently important to some people. Comparing football players and people working in the health sector is a false equivalence.
Football is entertainment and ordinarily makes money with investment, the health sector does not necessarily yield high returns and it’s an investment-prone field.
Around the world, people pay millions to watch football games, even to have access to games on their media devices/broadcasting rights. Advertisers pay a lot to get players to advertise for them, licensing rights, sponsorships, and the factors contributing to the monies in football are just endless. In the healthcare sector, yes, money should be invested, but there are not enough players to ensure a constant flow of money in it. In fact, in more socialist jurisdictions where healthcare is free, the main source of income for those in healthcare is the government. In football, everywhere, the money comes from every side, the government only regulates and collects taxes.
Overall, I’m actually surprised Seun is comparing these two fields. These are two parallel fields with different factors influencing their financial sides.
I understand your perspective but what he is saying is that we have misplaced priorities.. We are valuing jobs based on the money they bring not the value they provide. Nothing stops the government from increasing the moneys given to nurses or subsidising them well enough because of their committment to humanity, nothing stops the government from taking a huge percentage of the tax they take from the whole populace to fund those specific job roles that provide essential value to humanity.

The government doesn’t pump money into football, people, private entities do that. No matter how you look at it, Seun’s argument is a false equivalence.

What I’m saying is you can’t compare a field that requires government funding largely to a field that private entities continue to invest in. Portugal is a socialist country, but the money going in and out of soccer is bigger in Portugal as compared to healthcare.
The mark of intelligence is being about to assess contrary views, you lots are just accepting ideas without subjectively assessing it. Don’t let people think for you. Healthcare and sport is a false equivalence. It’s like saying men soccer players make more money than women soccer players. The turnover of both games are different.
