Without all you guys on youtube sharing your knowledge I'd be like all the other people walking down the sidewalk and just walk around it or crossed the street to the other side to avoid the bees. Well, yesterday I walked amongst them with no fear with the knowledge I have gained from all you youtube posters. All I had was a 5-gallon bucket a painters pole and a cardboard box. Nice job, I got a hive from the caverty in the outside wall of a house , first time doing that job , the bees stayed in the box but I to couldn’t find the queen and no queen cells , so that’s gotta be a good thing I’m assuming, the house I got them from is being knocked down and it’s winter here so a bit of a rescue job , I just put the comb in the box as is now I gotta put them into frames, the weather is crap cold and wet so awkward situation for them and me. Learning from you doing swarmes etc thanks for the video. 👍

    1. Thank you for this clip.
    2. as you saw eggs with first day age, that is mean there is a queen.
    3. the best method for transferring the swarm is to put an empty box on the buird box's place then start transfer and arrange the frames , you'll prevent the worker bees to be confused and keep the foster bees under control, then put the frames in the upper box, wait until after sunset and get your new hive.

lexnite22 if transporting at dark I don’t seal the entrance, there’s really no need to.
Smoke them until most all are in the box or on the box.
I just place them in the back of the truck & try not to drive like a mad man. 😉
I usually have stuff in the bed of the truck to keep the hive box from sliding around everywhere but if the bed is empty you’ll want to do whatever is needed to keep the box/boxes in place.
Start by placing them as close to the cab as possible if the bed is empty.
You could use a 2 x 4, straps, anything really to keep them from sliding, with a little thought you can figure it out.
If after arriving at the new location if bees are scurrying in the bed of the truck or are on the outside of your box & acting “runny”, give them some smoke until they run in, then move them onto your stand or whatever.
If transporting bees during the daytime you will have to seal them before first light. You can use any kind of screen or hardware cloth that’s holes are smaller than 1/8”.
I use #8 hardware for moving just a few colonies. If moving several like at least 5 or more I use this black mesh I get from Home Depot, comes in rolls.
Have to be careful with the mesh as it punctures easily but it’s quick & cheap. I secure it with hot glue after I’ve smoked the bees inside the box.
Hot glue is a little bit of a pain removing but the mesh & hot glue combo works very well.
If you have any more questions about this feel free to ask. Hope this helps.

Rusty Nail yes, in one lb of bees there’s roughly 3,000 bees but that’s what “they” say. Never did an actual count myself though. 😉

Wow so many 🐝 in such a relatively small space . Must of really been crowded in that bird house before the swarm happened. You upgraded the bee’s from starter home to luxury 5 star condo so much more space to spread out and move around . These 🐝 totally fascinate me . Thank you for the videos and keep them coming . Oh I think I’m already subscribed to Rooster and I subscribed to Yappy after you asked us all to head over and give his channel a look .
Do you have Blue Birds there ? as it looked like that bird house had blue feathers in it ?
Did you or the home owner replace the bird house ?
