  • This is a short video of me designing a Truncated Icosahedron (archimedean solid) in Fusion 360.
Using no math or angles, making the software do all the "hard" work.
The model is parametric in that there is only one dimension, then changing the dimension in the first sketch the final solid body updates.
Hope this is useful for you out there :)

I have made a new workflow for this model you find it here ruclips.net/video/9j5PNp1QuD4/видео.html

Thank you so much! I originally thought I would have to learn some advanced (from my pov) math to model something like this so I'm super glad I didn't have to. Insanely easy to follow tutorial!

Thank you. Not to scare you but the geometry used is math ;) but no numbers needed :)

Thanks a lot! Worked for mee! Had to go back and change a few lines which weren't perfect. Detail is key on this and every design. Thanks a lot for the tutorial! Worth wwatchning :D

It's magically well done. I could follow the entire thing quite easily. Masterful!
I only added some parameters for the sizing.

For some reason every time you say the word "perpendicular" I cannot stop myself from repeating it back in the voice of "Swedish Chef" 😁🙌
Thanks for the tutorial, it got me going in the right direction now.
Ps. I enjoyed listening to your narrative so much that I subbed for more. Take care

My future video will all be about the perpendicular cube ;)

@@KristianLaholm haha good, can't wait to see it because I when I
tried to model this it didn't pattern into the final sphere correctly, and going back over the video to check my geometry to yours, I've found out that setting playback speed to 0.75x or 0.5x really makes me laugh

@@Linktw0 I'm thinking of redoing some of this workflow, I have refined and learned some new things ;)

    Question
I was looking for this and asked about printing out the X,Y,Z coordinates of the resulting geometry in your other video?
Any solutions to doing that? Thanks for any helpful

Hello one question, on minute 7.55, when I try to combine all objects together (body 1 "target body"), it doesn't give me the exact clean result as yours... Instead there a few extra lines within a few "panels/ sides" and don't really know why!! I have followed every step exactly as you. Any advices or recommendations on what the problem might be?

It's hard to tell without seeing you file, but I'd suspect that some of your sketches are wrong.

@@KristianLaholm hey! truly appreciate you help! Would it be possible for me to share the design with you through email or anything? I'm trying to complete a work for university and decided to do this football design. If so, let me know and I can give you my email! In any case its this one: david.hernaez@hotmail.com

@@bYPexX I think it's faster for you to get answers using Facebook (Fusion 360 User Group) or Reddit (Fusion 360). But (sorry if I'm harsh) if you are at university level my little workflow should't present to much problem.

@@KristianLaholm okay yeah sure no problem don't worry I don't have facebook so I'll try to figure it out myself! Have been stuck for a few hours now though!! jajaajajajaja Thanks for replying!

@@bYPexX I uploaded the sketches here a360.co/3s72jDn You will get an error that there is no geometry, click Open in Fusion 360 and you will get the sketches.
