Its a decent sword. I got one and its held up to some pretty harsh abuse without any edge damage. 1060 High Carbon steel is pretty good. The point of balance is ok. Its a proper full tang with a pommel nut construction. I am working on the cross guard. I'm gonna grind and file it down to a more practical thickness, which should also bring the point of balance perfectly to the hilt and crossguard if my estimate is correct. However, despite the oversized cross guard, it is still within the weight of a historical hand and a half sword with that blade profile.
This man is ready for anything in this world.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is the legality with carrying a sword? I know it probably varies between states and countries but what is it like generally?

@@bishopcoleman5317 In Kentucky it counts as a deadly weapon seeing as its a blade longer than 4 inches. You have to be 21 or older. Have to carry in clearly visible sheath.
Bishop Coleman in California, it’s legal as long as it’s sheathed and clearly visible on your person.
It is called a Fuller, not a blood groove, least likely place to get blood. It lightens the bade while maintaining structural integrity, thinking an I beam.

@LandersWorkshop they're not blood grooves, they're fullers to lighten the blade. The vacuume body thing is a myth

Hi. Just an update on my sword. After a bit of use I noticed that the blade had a slight bend down near the tang and cross guard area. I checked another review I had found, the "Dynamo Sword Channel" Review on this sword. His sword is identical to mine in everything including the bend in the blade.
With a foot on the blade near the ricasso, I could gently lift the pommel and straighten it. It bends rather easily! When I attempted this I expected it to spring back to its original shape. But I managed to straighten it. Disassembly and a better look will make it easier to do. It appears that the tempering does not go all the way to the tang. Also the tang has almost right angles on where it joins the ricasso of the blade. This area will be prone to cracking if one intends to use this sword in a "when SHTF" scenario. The Tang has holes for the modern "Combat" grip to be screwed on properly. Retro fitting of a more historical styled tapering grip will improve its ergonomics considerably in my opinion. For heavy life dependent type use like actual combat..... I will keep looking, but for practice cutting and general technique practice this sword is nice and heavy and has enough minor faults that bad technique in cutting and sword play will stand out well.

@@That-guy916 bruh it's £100 cheaply made 1060 steel longsword with a cheap rubber grip and shitty looking guard and pommel, if the quality of the build, price range and the fact he calls it a fukin' broadsword is anything to go on the temper is probably god awful and you'll be lucky if the blade doesn't snap in your face if you even think about cutting something with it
The amount of times he slapped the items in this video made me shiver

No idea how you got that sword to cut anything. I ordered the Honshu Boshin double edged sword and it came so dull that I could grip the blade with one hand and drag the sword up and down without leaving a mark. Either you guys touched this thing up after getting it, or mine was a fluke. Because it was without a doubt the dullest sword I owned. I gave it away. I couldn't even sell it.
Edit to add: y’all might want to look into Balaur Arms 15th Century Italian longsword. It’s a replica of the Brescia Spadona in Italy. Albion has a version for $2,000. The Balaur Arms version is only $250, so for an extra $50 you get a sword that is much more closer to a “real” one. It has 5160 spring steel which is quite better than 1060. And it’s peened to the pommel. Not that this sword is bad or not “real” but it’s definitely not historically accurate.
Balaur arms are awesome. I heard great things about the Italian longsword and I have a 13-14th century longsword by them, which I am very satisfied with.
1060 is a good blade steel for these type of swords...

or idiot,this sword is bad 1060 is worthy only on katanas for swinging or cosplay, for 215 dollars you get hanbon forge custom katana whit 1095 clay tempered steel niw that is what you call decent sword

Blood groove? That's the cross section. The shape is called a fuller. The sword has that shape to decrease resistance when cutting and keeping a lighter sword.

Have you guys done a stress test on it to see how much it could really take if it was used in real battle against bats, maces, aluminum bats, etc.? That would be a good video
they are scamers, 1060 for 200 dollars, if you must get sword get hanbon forge custom katana becouse for araund 200 you get 1095 clay tempered katana, any sword that is 1060 yust isnt wort buying even if its 10 dollars

The gap at the guard where the fuller meets the guard concerns me might get one to remove the modern scales and make a new wood and wrapped handle
Greetings from Australia. I got one of these Swords a few days ago and so far I am quite happy with it, the scabbard is not all too sturdy though in my opinion and feels like plastic to me, if it is like mine and it sure looks identical, it is not what i would call razor sharp. I can run my finger along both edges no issue. As is, I can see it performing as per your video but you should try it on a rolled tatami mat to show your viewers the actual cutting performance, Its edge is rather keen so it will not take a lot of work to get this baby really cutting. Then do another video to compare.
United Cutlery call it the Honshu Broad sword. The "Broadsword" of history is not of the medieval period as this sword is modeled after but from a later period and has a basket hilt. The Sword featured has a hand a half hilt with a blade a little longer than an arming sword and a little shorter than a long sword so... A Contemporary styled Hand a Half or "Bastard" Sword is probably a more accurate name for it . I say contemporary as the quillions are somewhat chunky and the grip is completely modern in style. At 1.7 kilos it is getting up there in weight but well within the upper limits for a live sword of this configuration :) Oh, by the way, what do you mean by tactical? I am hearing this all the time now. Should one be using the sword ( or anything else ) while employing tactics on the field then I guess at that moment the sword ( or anything else ) would be "Tactical" But how can a grip be tactical? Anyway, I found it to be a pretty damned good sword for what it is. High Carbon spring steel blade, Stainless steel Quillions and pommel, it is a nice rig and looks damned great. It has replaced my Katana as primary long blade for my bug out kit.

That grove down the center of the blade is called a fuller and it’s there to reduce weight while adding strength please don’t call it a blood grove.
