This is hands-down the best video I’ve ever seen on this criminally underrated masterpiece of animated storytelling. I’ve always loved COTC, but the direction the Capture the Flag special went simply blew me away. It fully displayed the themes and character arcs of the series, which in this age of serialized animation isn’t all that surprising, but where it really shines is that it *challenged* them, and allowed the characters to grow, and change, and question their beliefs like so many of us do growing up. I haven’t seen enough shows do that.
I feel like I grew up to fast sometimes with all the responsibilities I had to take on at the young age of 7. That's why I really like this cartoon it addresses the topic of children growing up and makes me feel happy that kids can be kids in this show.
Your point about Kenneth not truly letting go of the stuff he once loved in his younger years resonates hard with me as a man in his mid-20s. Which is why I genuinely teared up when Steve Burns from Blue’s Clues gave his heartfelt message the other day. I’ve loved Blue’s Clues since I was a toddler and even though I may have “outgrown” it in the traditional sense, I still have love, appreciation and fondness for it. But sometimes, there are things from your childhood that you never truly let go of. Like cartoons I grew up with or video games I played growing up like Mario, Sonic or Pokémon. I don’t want to lose my positive outlook on life or childlike sense of wonder/innocence when the world is already as bleak as it is. To others, it may seem childish and immature of me to stay this way but in my eyes, I see it as me living my best life and being myself unapologetically. Craig of the Creek is one of many things that reminds me of this entire sentiment.
KND was a kiddie wish fulfillment, in the sense that it told us that everything kids play and believe in, is real. Which is all good fun, but by acknowledging that it's all make believe, and yet constantly remind us of how serious it is to the kids, CotC is much more relatable
"Why are you still watching kids shows?!" Because when I have kids, I want to be close to them, share these things, and not get them exposed to something that would've been bad for me as a kid. Sharing happiness isn't just for kids, it's for all kinds of people and good parents too.
I get the feeling that Cheyenne suffered alot from Middle Child syndrome which is why she became a tyrant and why she reacts with shame. She's insecure because of being the middle child and possibly other reasons, hence why she took a benign role and made it aggressive and then rejects it when she's older out of fear of being embarassed.
This show has gotten SO GOOD!!!! I honestly expected this capture the flag war to be the series finale but it was still cool to see now!! Also I swear if the show had the right budget this could’ve easily been it’s own movie (I WOULD KILL FOR A CRAIG OF THE CREEK MOVIE!!!!). I cant wait for them to explain the fort of wisteria and how kids were able to build it, that and the kings keep. Like how did they build a huge mill, or was it already there when the neighborhood was built, this is the same for the maze. I hope there is other cities like the kings keep or maybe the abandoned fortress of the fish king. I also want to see more dungeons like the game masters lair, so like temples that the crew has to got to like amphibia. I also want to see more on maya's life, mainly because she says that she was waiting on her brother to finish cooking. But maybe i'm looking too much into that and the brother just cooks. Even though were supposed to think of the other side as bad, I think they were on the track to greatness. I mean think about it, after the first war the creek was basically in an post-apocalypes. All the technologies of the ancients were gone, just look at how complicated the game masters lair was. And then kenith brought kids back. And then the whole thing with the other side happened and kids are becoming more advance, they build huge forts and have a society. Maybe the kings keep is even better than what the ancients could have made. And look at the acorn knights that we see in the capture the flag episode, to have these more advanced soldiers with better suits and equipment and to have so many, it really seems that the other were super advanced. And were expanding, but the original green poncho stopped them. Cheyenne did say that they had more enemies then just he green poncho so what other kingdoms of kids are out there. I also want to see if that tune that sometimes plays when the original GP has any importance and if the OG GP is really the OG PG. But back to my other topic, kids came back to the creek but only one side advanced. Craigs side is way more focused on just playing their own way besides unifying all kids other one umbrella. Like what if all of Craigs side used cardboard and built huge inventions with it like carter. Maybe Craig isn't the hero, well yes he now realizes that there should be some order in the creek but doesn't think there should be a leader. So he ruined the chances of the other side advancing, and Craig's side is also in ruin with all the posters of craig everywhere, mount sickomore destroyed, and a huge cardboard robot just sitting in in the ivy grove. I hope in season 4 Craig isn't the leader because there is no leader but the kids are more a aware of their potential and work together more.
This had the best anime arc. I loved seeing the fight between Kelsey, Michelle and Omar vs Cheyenne. Or seeing Big Time Bobby, or the goat himself Deltron come back and spit the hardest bars. But most importantly, seeing Craig come full circle in development and see the personalities between him and Xavier clash and come to fruition by the end of the race. I think seeing Craig dismiss the chance of being King was well made and I genuinely appreciate it and this show. The idea of a child’s imagination but stay grounded by reality is not common but it’s well adapted for us to all feel the freedom of a nostalgia filter.
I think my favorite part of this episode was either how the petals of the crown fall off over time or when maya picked up omar from his bow and slammed him on to kelsey. Oh and the return of the green poncho and deltron and bobby going ultra instinct.
I have autism and one of the hardest things in my life has been that my peers have just grown up faster than me and well physically I am at a point where I should’ve long abandoned the metaphorical creek because society says so emotionally I’m barely starting to become ready to leave

What always bothered me about the whole "animation is for kids" argument is that animation takes a LOT of work. I mean a person can enjoy animation at every age, from the colors and action as a kid, the story and characters as a teen, and just appreciation for the sheer amount of time and effort that goes into all of it as an adult. Animation and cartoons don't just appear, it's not just a person in a costume. It is art, it's blood, sweat, and tears of teams upon teams of people putting their all into the story, the art, the sound effects, and god forbid songs should they come. Good to finally see a Craig of the creek video from you guys, and Tom don’t worry, there’s still more to come with a season 4 set to come out later this year
The Capture the Flag special was incredible! I’m so happy with the build up and the pay off. Although, it still makes a man wonder how the original game was. How bad was it that it caused the Ancients to never come back after their parents found out? I can’t wait for that to be explored in the future season or seasons. Also, I really want to know what happens to Kit! Xavier actually meddled with her report card! And there is nothing in the world that remains sacred and taboo to meddle with for children, teenagers and adults than a report card. I know Xavier’s a tragic character, but I so~ want to see him punished for that!
Your commentary is spot on. When I was I teenager I stopped watching CN bc people told me it was top childish. Now as an adult, I came to appreciate shows that I missed bc of that Like Adventure Time or Regular show. I also love Amphibia

KND and Recess with a splash Rugrats. So if you like any of those shows and you haven’t checked out Craig of the Creek please do because this show is for you. 👍
I also believe that the 5 part capture the flag saga is also just a generally good metaphor for anti war considering the rest of the context of the shows world building sense the flags were like a kid version of a weapon of mass destruction and they let their separate cliques of the war destroy the previous kid society cause none of them realized at the end of the day they're all just kids
8:16 i get these comments alot and the first thing i always say is "you do know that adults...make the cartoon right? their not made by children so you're question is a lil counterintuitive dontcha think?"
Whenever Craig of the creek first came out a few years ago I was like oh this sounds boring cuz I thought it was going to be like clearance or something within a few years later I started getting these epic fight scenes recommended and thought I would check out some of the other scenes of the show and it turned out that this show has great fight scenes great lore was created by some of the Steven universe team and even the filler episodes are pretty good I can't believe that it took me like 5 years or something just to start watching this cool show
Being an adult sucks sometimes😔 When you want to enjoy something seen as "childish" you are considered immature, when you want to watch something adult you get called gross or get told "Eww are you really into that stuff?"
I know what it's like to grow up and look back on the things in your childhood that most would think should stay there, and every time I do, I get this feeling that I took my childhood for granted. It's true, most would rather forget about their childish past, but it's what we had and did in that past that really makes up who we are. when I was in elementary school we had this big forest area where when lunch came, that's where every older kid went to play and hang out. that was our creek. That was the first time I really enjoyed my childhood, where I felt like I was free to do whatever I wanted, and when the bell rang that was the end of it for the day. I'd go home, eat lunch, watch power rangers, and pokemon, and just live life as my nerdy kid self. When I left for middle school things changed. We had a forest area but it was smaller and most people didn't hang out there, kids started to break into groups, and I realized that I didn't fit in any of them, I tried to make new ones but no one really cared. What I thought was fun, other people thought of as "weird" and "childish." That was my "leaving of the creek" and just like the first green poncho, it was fear of ridicule that made me change. then when i went into high school, I realized how much i really missed my "creek days," so on a whim, i went to visit my old elementary school and visit the forest area. it was there that i realized that my childhood wasn't a bad thing, and i really had no need to change for other people's approval. i started to get back into things that i missed when I was conforming, reunited with old friends, and made new ones through them. and Craig of the Creek showed me that i was not alone. Thank you Craig of the Creek.
I'm 12 and i love to watch craig of the creek and when i saw this video i undertand that i should nr enjoying my childhood than traying to be who i'm not.I hope you see this comment.
I think that when you fully accept your maturity and childishness that's when you truly grow . You don't change you grow , that's the beauty of aging, the present. Everything is ongoing, never run away from your childhood but also sometimes don't unnecessary throw it away
What did I like in Craig of the Creek? The imagination of one innocent child created with friends. We all can agree, we used to be innocent, imaginative, and adventurous.
Hey Roundtable I found something out in The Owl House well did you know the season 2 has some juicy secrets so if you look at the first letter of all the ten episodes it spells S E E K T H E K E Y BOOM mind blowing if you don't believe me look at The Owl House season 2 titles and look at the first letter of the titles
I think recess is a much better comparison for Craig of the creek then kids next door. Kids next door is ultimately not meant to be grounded in reality, it takes childhood tropes and exaggerates them into sci-fi shenanigans. Recess is literally about a bunch of kids and the culture they build around themselves during playtime. Recess even has various tribes of children just like Craig of the creek. To me comparing kids next door and Craig of the Creek is like apples and oranges. But I really think recess was the Craig of the creek of my generation
I love the symbolism of when Craig was running from Xavier his crown was slowly falling apart, and every time a petal fell of he tried a new strategy and got more desperate.

Capture the flag special was incredible
They are going to have a episode of JP struggling with growing up... He is the oldest.
JP is the perfect excuse for a puberty episode
KND and Recess with a splash Rugrats. So if you like any of those shows and you haven’t checked out Craig of the Creek please do because this show is for you. 👍
This was a amazing season finale
My favorite cartoon. Lovely video keep it up comrade lovely video.
ITS HERE YOOOOOOOOO
this show is soooo underrated ❤️🔥 and this video made me so happy🥲
This video thesis was something I didn't know I needed.
8:16 i get these comments alot and the first thing i always say is
"you do know that adults...make the cartoon right? their not made by children so you're question is a lil counterintuitive dontcha think?"
I also just made my own video about the show since I bingewatched it. Holy hell, I loved it. One of the best modern cartoons there is.
Whenever Craig of the creek first came out a few years ago I was like oh this sounds boring cuz I thought it was going to be like clearance or something within a few years later I started getting these epic fight scenes recommended and thought I would check out some of the other scenes of the show and it turned out that this show has great fight scenes great lore was created by some of the Steven universe team and even the filler episodes are pretty good I can't believe that it took me like 5 years or something just to start watching this cool show
YOU SHOULD DO A VIDEO WITH SEASONS 4 AND 5 TOO!!! THIS IS SO GOOD!!
Being an adult sucks sometimes😔 When you want to enjoy something seen as "childish" you are considered immature, when you want to watch something adult you get called gross or get told "Eww are you really into that stuff?"
Yup. *nods sagely*
Craig of the creek is a mix of kids next door (more imagination) and recess (more real elements).
YES! BEEN WAITING FIR THIS VIDEO!
FINALLY, IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR SO LONG!!!!
I wanna watch this show so bad but I can’t find it anywhere
I think it's mostly slept on because some of the characters (craig especially) have the calarts head.
Growing up actually isn't a bad thing inherently.
I grew up and I'm not a kid anymore but that doesn't mean that i dislike things from childhood now.
FINALLY I’VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG!!!!!! 😃

Finally you did video
Good you did the video
This was excellent.
We’ve waited too long for this video-
If Craig of the creek and Steven Universe dont have a crossover, (even with all the references in the show) I will die inside.
I hate to tell you but in craig of the creek Steven universe is a show and not really actual people.
I think that when you fully accept your maturity and childishness that's when you truly grow . You don't change you grow , that's the beauty of aging, the present. Everything is ongoing, never run away from your childhood but also sometimes don't unnecessary throw it away
Let's be real here...KND and Craig of the creek are lit in their own right.
FINALLY ITS BEEN MONTHS
Fanily you covered this beautiful muti part series
War arc was flames
Love the show, love the vid!
What did I like in Craig of the Creek? The imagination of one innocent child created with friends. We all can agree, we used to be innocent, imaginative, and adventurous.
Hey Roundtable I found something out in The Owl House well did you know the season 2 has some juicy secrets so if you look at the first letter of all the ten episodes it spells

I LOVE COTC SM SO UNDERRATED
Craig of the creek in 3 words
North Korea vs south Korea
True
I think recess is a much better comparison for Craig of the creek then kids next door. Kids next door is ultimately not meant to be grounded in reality, it takes childhood tropes and exaggerates them into sci-fi shenanigans. Recess is literally about a bunch of kids and the culture they build around themselves during playtime. Recess even has various tribes of children just like Craig of the creek. To me comparing kids next door and Craig of the Creek is like apples and oranges. But I really think recess was the Craig of the creek of my generation
Speaking fax in one vid
