I love this game so much. My friend wasn’t as technologically advanced as most people because his family was poor. They bought a used PS2 because that was all they could afford (this was three years after the XBOX ONE came out) and they had Burnout 2 on it. I’d go to his house sometimes and play it with him. He also had Plug and Play games, but those did not interest us. When we started playing the game, oh boy, I fell in love with it. When that kickass music started playing, I knew this was going to be a great game. Every time I went to his house, we would play it for hours. Our favorite mode was Runaway, where one of us would play as the Cop, and the other would play as the runaway driver. The runaway driver would have to get to the finish line first before the cop would get him. Oh boy, do I miss that game. Quarantine has split us apart for so long. I can’t wait till quarantine is over so I can go to his house and play that game again.

The best opening theme music to a game of all time. I remember getting this game as a gift for my good grades. This was back when the we could actually buy games for a cheap price as PS2 games and we could instantly play them once you put the disk in. I still have my happy face sticker on the cover since this was back when I was in the 2nd grade and the game just came out I believe at the time I got it. Man how time flies. This is my first time seeing a video play through since the last time I played it which was years and years ago. Edit: crash mode was peak entertainment for my kid brain

+Snake FoxDie And the first Burnout game as well! The big plus... ALL PS2 games for PS4 will have TROPHY SUPPORT!!! This should really increase game longevity and replayablity!
Gosh. What a time it was. A time where a racing game was just for racing, without a shitty, obsolete open world for you to _CRUISE_ in, and waste immense amounts of time _searching_ for and getting to races.. in a _racing game_! (and without shitty licensed music!) And also before EA came in, (eventually) ruined Burnout, and then stomped the studio, am I right? But hey, maybe games wouldn't be so friggin' expensive to produce if people would just stop blowing them up with stuff nobody was really asking for in the first place, and keep it appropriately simple. *Sorry for rambling*, I'm a bit bitter about videogames these days. I love the throwbacks this channel gives me! And I'm definitely gonna dust off my old PS2 and pop in some Burnout 2! :D
I guess it's subjective of course, but Burnout 3 was the last good one. Dominator and Revenge were.. forgettable in the best case scenario. And then Paradise with its boring open world city and its terrible DLC and soundtrack. And soon after, Criterion got stomped. So that's what I call ruined.
+ObiMace Revenge was better than Takedown IMO. But, I agree, the series went vastly downhill after that; I remember not getting Dominator after reading in the old Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine that the game was not going to have takedowns in it.
Revenge was way better than Takedown. At least you got replays of your races. Paradise sucked for me. The navigation was horrible. the lack of crash mode was tragic. Alex Ward was online at the time and only seemed to care about online players. Luckily Forza Horizon would eventually come around and fix a lot of the problems (although it's more of a Test Drive style game than a crashing game). Point Of Impact was a real classic. I bought it three times on PS2, Xbox and Gamecube and played it to death each time.
Sicc driving, maet! Very relaxing video. Even though the nitro boost really boosts my adrenaline.. and theres something about the menu music that always make me so fkn nervous for some reason... =P
This is were it all began for me..! On the PS2 of course. Man I was an absolute beast and legend at playing this game when i was a young kid back in the day when this came came out, played countless amount of sleepless hours on this game even after completing the game at %100 several times. The nostalgia of just thinking about the good old memories I've had with playing this game just makes me wanna play it again, again and again...! I still have my original copy of this game to this day and the original 8 MB memory card i used just to save my games files on, I'm not joking I am for real. This game and Tony hawks Pro Skater 4 on the PS2 were by one of my favorites at the time.
Pursuit, especially on split screen multiplayer mode was one of my favorite things about this game XD Constantly battling it out with my friends and AI was always fun.
Remember the highway scene from The Matrix: Reloaded where Trinity was riding a motorcycle on the wrong side of the road zipping between traffic like a badass? This game felt like that.
Shame the video doesn't do the game justice, it's a lot smoother in the flesh and it ran in 16:9, I think the youtube compression took it's toll. Well played though!
You know this game is ahead of it's time when you see what appears to be Airbus A3XX or A380's flying over above you landing and taking off in the airport region.
Burnout 2 was on the Demo Disc I got with my PS2. Back at these days I couldnt afford any games (didnt even have a memory card for a long time), so I kept playing that one map (Big Surf Shores, 2:19:20) over and over again. It was frustrating because for a pretty long time I couldnt figure out how to play this game right - by chaining Burnouts - so I always lost. But damn, that was pure Adrenaline when I had my first chain of like 7 Burnouts then!
No, when you bought a PS2 without a game you got a demo disc with it. You could also get these discs when buying the Official Playstation 2 Magazine. These were discs containing single levels or limited time demos of some games as well as some trailers.
Ultradoom333 I remember being so pissed that EA took control of Burnout and left us GameCube owners without anymore Burnouts. Man I fucking hated them for that.
I feel you man, that was some bullshit. What's really dumb about that is that the Gamecube would have been able to run Burnout 3 and Revenge better than the PS2 since the processor in the Gamecube was more powerful in comarison, so I really have no idea why they snuffed out Nintendo users

Oh yeah, definitely. It's a shame that Dominator didn't have a crash mode and Revenge didn't have single player mode other than playing 'world tour mode'. I would've love to be able to play a quick custom single player game after unlocking all of the unlockable cars, tracks and modes available instead of a fixed linear game mode were you can't really play anything else other what was to meant be played to be unlocked it just makes no sense, why play through a career mode to unlock things when you can't play with whatever you've unlocked in a separate mode outside of career mode of driving games, wtf EA!? I hate that stupid multiplayer oriented games were you have a shitty linear career mode to unlock content with the absence of classic single player mode that does not effect your current career based progress, stupid always online D.R.M. shit is taking over all the new games these days and EA is one of those publishers that are implementing it to most if not all of their already ruined or shitty game franchises, they will never remove this crap but it just makes you think twice about buying a particular AAA game title.
