There is both sugar cane and sugar beets. Here in Europe we grow sugar beets cause it can handle colder weather. :)

I hope they fix the logic to the game. It doesn't make sense to improve a plant for nearly the same cost as buying the plant new. At least take the dollar you see the plant and take an entire dollar off for improving the plant. Or better yet, buy actual food for the plant and have us water the plants do we can continue to improve the plants.
