@twinturbo3470 yea the only way to like clean clean them is if you got a parts washer with mineral spirits cause regular alkaline degreasers kinda suck
Mine is 5 years old and looks amazing. I just squirt a tiny bit of brake cleaner on a microfiber cloth. Quick wipe and put the tool away. I'm a very very clean mechanic. But my ratchets are used hard and the soft handles Are excellent. I actually watched this video to work out if I can buy cheaper hard handled ratchets to convert to soft handled. So yeh. Brake cleaner
So are the soft and hard handle ratchets the same other than the choice of handle? Sorry if I missed that. I'm just looking to do the opposite by buying cheap hard handles used and fitting soft handles
This might be the dumbest video I've seen lately. You don't need hot water. You don't need to twist the handle, or put the handle in a vice, which is destroyed now by the way to use on anything else. I understand that 99% of people have not been on an actual tool truck, to see how this is actually done but what snapon guy cruises around with boiling water just waiting to change handle? None! Put the ratchet in a vice with a towel to prevent scratching, grab a wrench that fits just over the ratchet shaft and slide the handle off. Easy as pie. Takes about 5 seconds. People way over complicate shit.
Nice collection of ratchets. Those classic hard handles are awesome.
I love the hard handles, thanks for your reply

What size handles should I order for a 1,4 inch rachet

Use a rag on the vice, turn the ratchet upside down in the vice with rag and hammer the handle not the ratchet head.... smh lol
Do you still have that soft grip bouncing around? I would love to have it for my ratchet.
