I have an older model and after cleaning, the button was worst (not responding at all). It seems like I removed part of the gray coating on the plastic which is important for the contact. I haded a tiny piece of aluminum foil and now it's working perfectly. So be careful with the cleaning!

Mine had a screw in between the batteries so make sure you check b4 you start prying. In addition, the back plate was attached to the PCB with a wire and fastener so be careful. Lastly, my clear plastic cover was glued to the PCB. My board was very sticky. I don't remember spilling anything on it but I kept thinking it was the adhesive.
