There are many ways to improve this design. I prefer replacing the sensor system with an accessory piston that pushes a button in and out, it's more stable and reliable that way. Also, I've found soap (set to weightless) works well for the piston due to its lack of friction. To avoid sensors and other machinery breaking like they did there, I recommend setting them to indestructible. Also, I recommend pulsing the valve instead of leaving it on, as a lot of fuel can be saved, whereas this design uses 1L of fuel per rotation because you allow the flask to fill up fully, which doesn't make the explosion any bigger.

you could also use metronome with green and red propagation cables
and maybe try setting the flask heat to 1000 celsius?

This is realy cool i added a starter motor to start it and made the fuel tank bigger also added a gearbox and just put it in a car!

I stumbled upon this video looking for videos to see if my engine prototype has already been made and, I'm impressed. This is smart and seems pretty accurate to how real life engines work, although I don't see many applicable uses, for a steam locomotive, yeah but for a vehicle, like a sedan for a semi-truck not exactly, but still impressive, I wish you luck on your contraption adventures :)

i have made my own engine more of a diesel kind it only needs a spark plug to start and not to run im just having problems on how to turn it into rotational force

You can just decrease the range of metal detectors instead of putting wood there.

Their range only decreases to 1M, useless for engines, and if the sensors shake too close to the metal on the other side, they can set of prematurely. I prefer using a second, smaller piston that pushes a button for timing. Far more robust, etc
