- "Whatever happens, I'll always have faith in you, Ben. Even if we're attacked by other rescue teams, I won't be scared. What good will it do if you don't believe in yourself, Ben?"
This game......ugh...it's just.......so beautiful.
My grandma bought me this game when I was little after I got my teeth pulled at the dentist and she asked me if I wanted a game, so I looked around GameStop for a cheap game and I saw a used Pokemon game that was like $11, so she bought it....I didn't really understand it because I wasn't good at reading. Now my grandma pasted away 2 months ago and I found the game and I feel like it's a good time to play it again
If you listen closely, you hear Gladions theme here ;D
BlueStarsFall Sorry about your grandmother (hope she's at a better place right now).
This game also remind me great memories of my childhood, I even remember my grandfather and grandmother who drive us to a shop which was really far from their home, and then they bought me PDM Sky, my grandfather died recently unfortunately, and I'm replaying PDM sky as a memory.
D4rkSonic was that necessary?
away
There, I pasted away too. It's not so bad.
Sorry, I had to make the joke.
Fucking jackass
Jesus I swear I heard this in Gladion's theme and it was driving me crazy. Pretty smart that it's used partially for him.
Not partially. Gladions theme IS this, just remixed and sped up
Gladion's theme, first and foremost, is a superb slap bassline; with a remix of this as the accompanying melody.
Bard W. Do I hear B A S S?
Radjon I presonally think it's a smart move because the song is called "Run Away, Fugitives" and from what I remember, Gladion also ran away and can be seen as kind of a Fugitive. Also, not that much of the people who played the main games have played the spin off games as well, so having this reused into such a fast theme like Gladion's is very hard to catch, but if you've played Mystery Dungeon and caught the reference in the music, you'll be able to understand and appreciate the reasoning they had in remaking the theme. (TLDR : Smart move and not lazy)
Now that I’ve actually sped up this theme, I can’t un-hear it in Gladion’s theme.
I am just in AWE at how talented Chunsoft was to make such amazing games. Absolute masters at their craft.
A docile person like you... Should be a Bulbasaur! That stupid little fake personality test got my personality down to a T. Especially with that snarky little "You must have lots of friends! ... Not really?" Ever since that, I've felt sort of a connection to Bulbasaur. It's a dumb sentiment but it meant a lot when I was younger.
+Ty Johnson I always hated that test mostly because the questions they ask have sometimes complex answers and none of them really fit me, so the test never got my personality right. That's really how I feel about most "personality tests." How granular can you make the questions before they can really be accurate?
For me the test was quite accurate, When I played the game as a child I had Eevee, which is a childish personality. When I replayed the game over and over, I saw the characters change with my personality.
Best part is the fact they only answer a few questions, not the entire survey, so even if you try to put on the same act each time, you'll rarely get the same pokemon twice in a row.
Ty Johnson same. That's how I got a connection with Riolu from pmd 2
Mudkip here. I remember saying "yep" aloud to prettymuch every box of text describing the lonely personality type.
I am NOT ready to experience this in HD ;;
Same. So many memories rushed back when the trailer dropped. I have complete excitement, but I also know what's waiting for me at the end of all of this. :(
Don't worry its nearly double the price to make sure you're ready :|
All the same, probably gonna still buy it lol
@Kennedy Campbell OMG SKY TOWER IS AN AMAZING THEME I CANNOT WAIT I'M LITERALLY COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS
Tomorrow the tears of every human on this world will fuel gamefreak enough to make explorers DX.
GOD I'M SO EXCITED!
SanikkuPlays Gamefreak has nothing to do with PMD...
"It's true. I abandoned Gardevoir and ran. I was afraid that the curse would fall on me. I had to get away, no matter what... That's what I thought. It didn't take long for me to forget about the curse and about Gardevoir.
Many long years passed... But Gardevoir... she never forgot about me. One night, in that human's dream, Gardevoir said this... That she considered me an irreplaceable friend, and that she still believed we would meet again. Gardevoir kept thinking about someone like me.
But I... How selfish I was. I lived carefree all this time... I realize now how selfish I was. It's not just Gardevoir. This Rescue Team put up with my selfishness and brought me here. I finally know what I was missing.
What I lacked...
It was something for the others...
A sense of gratitude."
Really nice of the music team to bring this song into Sun and Moon and executed it very well
Wait they did? At what part?
Wallywutsizface Gladion's theme is a remix of this song
Holy frick you're right
bauerklos Yes they did Gladion's theme is a sped up version of this song. It's actually really clever on many levels. Gladion became a fugitive of Aether and ran away. That is literally what this song is all about it's the most epic foreshadowing for a video game I have ever seen. Drom the first moments we see him the game already told us what his story was and we didn't notice.
hey I found someone with common sense
I remember crying like a lil bitch to this song, me being a 9 year old playing Blue Rescue Team, my partner a Pikachu and me a Charmander. The story inmersed me so in, and the lovely music. I don't know if there were any games that made me cry before, but this is truly the one that I remember the most.
we had the same group. I was a charmander, as well as my partner being pikachu. I was probably the same age as well. This is probably one of my favorite games ever. Right now I'm even playing psmd and it's great. Different unique story and it still manages to give me that ol mystery dungeon happiness and sorrow. lol.
OH MY GOD SAME;; I will always be Charmander and choose Pikachu as my partner. I played this game so many times with the exact same team..
ItsMeMora me too 😭
I LOVE YOU ALL
I used to always be Pikachu and choose Charmander lol
Well, shit. If I had known I'd be taking a feels trip today, I'd have packed a lunch.
here, take my spare box of feelios
+Glimmericious Here, you'll need a box of Feels tissues
+Glimmericious i'll provide the shoulder
Nice, it even has a lid for easy opening!
Here have some onions
Pretty amazing how the same melody put in different contexts can make you either bawl your eyes out be the most epic, motivating fight music ever.
yes haha
Such an incredible spin-off, probably the best spin-off I've ever played and probably ever will play.
This game is probably better than the actual games... wait I take that back, it's a lot better than the actual games.
Indeed.
Mystery dungeon games are better than the main games. By far
Sad but true. Sad because the main games could be just as good, but they don't try enough. Making a yearly release with minor changes gives more money
The saddest part is that it is nearly impossible to play these games nowadays.
the first song in the first video game to make me cry. I will always hold the Rescue Team games in a special place in my heart as the first game I ever beat.
Do I hear Gladion's theme? Oh god.
You don't hear gladion's theme in this. You hear this in gladion's theme.

The song and comments are giving me feels.

the feels are strong with this one...
I believe Gladion’s theme is a remix of this masterpiece
You'd be correct
This song... this story... this GAME... So infinitely beautiful...
Ryusuta Games with an amazing storyline mean the most to me. Blue Rescue Team nailed it.
Prepare to cry your butt off when the remake comes out ryu...
The first time you seen Absol, he was a complete stranger to you and yet was one of the first pokemon who've never doubted you, ready to accept at a given moment, you aren't the calamity bringer of the world. And then there is your partner who through better or worse stuck to you the whole way never once betraying you as you embark on the most perilous journey of your life and for all pokemonkind.
If there's one thing the pmd series has had, it's heartfelt bgm and the story that goes along with it.
Absol is A Chad
I just listened to this again. Just realized that the melody at 0:29 is also the melody for the final battle VS Rayquaza.Wow... each PMD game (minus Gates to Infinity, didn't play that one) has its final battle repeat a motif from an earlier track. That's brilliant. Another reason why I love the PMD series.
+Big Daddy Pizza You should pick up Gates to Infinity sometime! The OST is probably one its best qualities (right next to its immersive story).
Perhaps I will play it, if I can find some time. I have already heard most of the dungeon music in Super Mystery Dungeon, though. It does sound pretty spectacular, especially Ragged Mountain and Stony Cave.
SMD's final boss does this too and I love it.
Same for dialga's battle and Dark matter final battle, the great composers always "remix" earlier track in the game to make this sort of epic and emotive music
Overly Enthusiastic they continued the leit motif in Sun and Moon. Gladion's theme is a sped up version of this song, they game foreshadows his entire story in the first fight with the song and people didn't notice till afterwards. Gladion became a fugitive of Aether and ran away with people trying to chase him down. That is what the original song was about: running away.
The "cry your heart out" national anthem.
This is the only correct comment on this page.
When I hear this song, all I think of is how my partner, Caterpie, Metapod, Pelipper, and the Jumpluff still believed in me, even though I (both as the character and player) truly believed I was the scumbag from the Ninetales legend, who was to blame for the world falling out of whack. That kind of devotion to/from a friend isn't something I've ever really known. Needless to say...I'm too attached to that partner Pikachu I jokingly named after my character, haha. These games are incredible.
You sure have a taste man. Enjoy life remembering and listening to this masterpiece, which unfortunately is not known as it deserves to be
I think this might've been the first time I ever cried at a game for the intended reason (y'know other than being bad at games). I had no clue what we were gonna do, but Caterpie and the other kids believed in me and that was just so nice.
Another song I can't wait to hear in the remake.
Everyone is here because of that.
I hope they keep the originals... Because we know how they destroy everything when they remake it...

fucking amazing how just a song alone can do so much impact.
This was my first Pokémon game ever, I didn't understand english back then, and even still this song and that scene meant so much to me. Replayed the game literally for this one scene.
You especially got connected to your partner.. I still miss my Chikorita to this day.
The only game that's every made me cry. Man those were good times.
The only games that made me cry were PMD1+2. :( They are so good, truly the best games ever.
+Cryolisk Get ready for PMD time and darkness
Play PMD2 and play Undertale. Then play nothing else ever because no other game will ever compare again.
Dialga The Time Lord I love Undertale, but it wasn't that sad.
Super Mystery Dungeon was pretty sad too. But dang is PMD Explorers beautiful. It's like this game but also very much superior.
1:27 Zinnia's theme
0:51 Gladion's theme
0:01 Ilia Theme
I cried in this part and the ending :$ You have to admit, you do get attached to the characters :$
That's one of the things I love about these games, that illusion of how it feels like the things that go on in the game, are really happening.
I accidentally leveled up one of my Pokemons once.I didn't wanna. I reset the game xD then I was like "WHY DID I DO THAT" because seriously, I was attached to those computer generated pixles.
True story.
❤ Just Melody ❤ Well, that makes... almost everyone who played the game! ...Or at least the ones with emotions greater than those of table salt. (No offense to table salt.)
This game was THAT game of my childhood. Absolutely love it, even if the story and characters aren't actually very good. When I was a child I used to put more personality to them as headcanons XD
Getting Psyduck after taking the test was amazing. Now he's a level 100 Golduck that kills everything with normal attacks.
me too! at last i found someone who got Psyduck; he kicked hard
+Giovanni Benso PSYDUCK MASTER RACE!
I remember so much of this game.
I cried when I left my partner...
Red Rescue will always be that one game that I'll always love
I cried too... my partner was a chikorita...
Lyrics, since these words just started coming into my head:
(read along with the main melody)
Run away, run away,
Run away and stay with me,
Run away, run away,
Maybe someday we'll be free.
Through moun-tains, and moun-tains,
and stone paths, and vall-eys,
We will find, we'll always find, our path...
But you'll stay with me, stay with me,
By my side until the end,
Stay with me, run with me,
You will always be my friend.
Through moun-tains, and moun-tains,
and high roads, and caverns,
I will be, I'll always be with you,
(I will be, I'll always be with you...)
[music instrumental]
[chorus repeat Run away ]
Through moun-tains, and moun-tains,
and stone paths, and vall-eys,
we will run, we will fight, as one,
(we will run, we will fight, as one...)
[music instrumental]
[chorus repeat Stay with me
until fadeout]
This is beautiful. :')
PurplePetrichor Gorgeous
No words man, the lyrics are beautifull, i actually found myself singing them ( i never sing ) Dat was awesome
why does the last part remind me of the XYZ anime?
May I use these lyrics for a cover if I ever decide to do one? I'll definitely credit you!
Awww, now we get to run away in HD... lol
And cry again but in HD c:
it’s us against the word friend😭😭 i still tear up a little years later🥲
It's like Gladion's theme in a major key.
i played this at the same time as gladion's theme and the 2 songs seem to fill in each other
In january 2020, I played this game and I had no expectations... But when I heard this song, I knew that I was playing a masterpiece... This game is so underrated... This game was an incredible discovery...
No shutup, this doesnt sound like gladions theme, gladions theme sounds like this
ikr
Reminder that this is the turning point for your character and your partner. Your partner decides to stick with you through thick and thin despite previously having doubts about you. Your character grows more confident and bold and begins realizing how much of a team you and your partner are. Whenever your partner self doubts in this scene, your character will reassure them, and let them know they’re in this entire thing together
the good old times what a master piece. though i doubt that anybody comes back to see this song.
and if you do your probably doing the same as me remembering this master peace of an old game.
We're all going to cry again yay! :'D
"I battle for my partner,Null,to make it strong."
I was very young when this game originally released but years later I wanted a 3ds and my mom's friend accidentally got me a DS lite instead but I didn't mind. My mom took me to Gamestop to buy a game to go along with my DS lite and I saw this, I'd heard of Pokémon but not this game but regardless I bought it and oh dear did I not realize the amazing experience I was in for, best game I had ever played up to that point, I cried! 10/10 game!
So many emotions of sadness and courage with this music. You can feel it at any second
I'm 25 now, haven't cried in more than 10 years. Well the start of the flute at 0:05 bursted it out haha. unbelievable, the memories
First game to make me cry. God, I replayed PMD so many times and everytime I got to the end, it still had the same effect.
God this game. I remember playing it on a cracked DS game chip I used to have that no longer works. I scroll down one day and see this game next to Pokémon platinum which is all I played, but I decided to check out this game as I never heard of “Mystery Dungeon” before. I didn’t know what to expect playing it all those years ago. Needless to say it was the first time a game almost made me cry as a child. Hearing this now makes me remember the time I heard it in game and the story revolving around it. It almost brought me to tears seeing how the only choice was to run from the home me and my partner had. This game will always have a special place in my heart right next to Explorers of Sky. It came close to bringing me to tears, but EoS broke me as a child
dunno if anybody noticed but the Rayquaza Final Boss theme can be heard in this track, making it more so bittersweet with what is going on later.
Dammit.. I always tear up when I hear this.. I played all the PMD games.. but this song. Damn..
Tbh best pmd game is explores of sky/darkness/time.
Mugiwara imo the story in EoT/EoD/EoS is much better than in RRT/BRT, but the dungeons and the recruiting system was way better in the latter ones, especially regarding legendaries.
I played Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Darkness when I was 7: didn't cry at all at anything.
But when I replayed it and realized: *omfg why are you doing this*
*tears*
Agree, explorers of sky was the best, i thing suoer mystery dungeon is after
EoT pretty much broke me playing it recently. Never hit me the first time I played it 10 years ago
@@shivoart I cry at the end of EoS every single time
I'm not ready for this song in the remake.
It's gonna hit the feels way too hard, and I'm sure I'm not the only one this will happen to.
This game made me cry at so many moments. All these games never fail to make me cry tbh. Theyre all filled with touching moments, especially the end scenes(looking at super mystery dungeon for making me scream out "WHAT?!" while i was sitting next to my mom)
I have to cry so hard... i played it as a child and the story was fcking amazing!
I played PMD when I was very small, I passed it but I cannot remember almost nothing. However, I listened this song and I started to cry.
I thing I have a childhood trauma with this game.
i love this song, really
Me: *hears Gladion’s battle theme after listening to this theme* “Dude, you’re a mystery dungeon fan too?!”
Gladion: “Get out of my hotel room already! This is the fifth time you’ve barged in here this week!”
Yeah this is JUST like Gladion's theme. It only has a completely different intro, outro, b-section, c-section, instrumentation, melody, tempo, chord progression, and vibe. The only things they have in common are a similar contour for the A section, not even the same intervals.
This theme always reminds me of my partner (Squirtel) .
This was the only game that ever made me cry.
Ever.
My feels ache now.
Just listening to this is making me tear up, incredible OST ♥️
This song made me realize how much this game is going to hit me in the nostalgia
I listen to this song when I need a good cry
Winter: I think we lost them. We can rest for a while. I don’t think anyone can get this far.
Summer: there are few.
Winter: Of course. Alakazam’s team could be on their way. Yeah, we should keep going.
Reading about tears almost made me tear.
Rey_JJJ OH MY GOOD LORD YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Enough! My ship sails in the morning. I wonder what's for dinner.
I'm so hungry, I could eat a Dodongo!
this song is like a punch in the gut to my emotions whenever i hear it
... I'll never forget this track. It affected me a lot when I was a child... It remember when I got the game under my loyal and nostalgic Santa tree...
The Escape part of this game is one of my most intense moment, and also the most touching, with the Magma Cavern's mission and the "Final Adventure" at Sky Tower. And. When I saw the scene when Gengar said the truth about his past in the Murky Cave... I started to be interested on him. And it makes me cryyyyyyy! D'=
But I did not stop to delete my datas... RIP, Skitty Lvl 76. RIP to all my legendaries... Today, I stop. And I will live my childhood. Right now.
... Most touching game I've ever played, with PMD 2... =')
me while listening to this: *i hear gladion*
This soundtrack, along with all the other Pokemon telling you and your partner goodbye, it tore me apart. ;-;
Brings tears to my eyes every time
this song is what made me want to be a musician
Just for fun, I played this theme for some friends who'd never played a Mystery Dungeon game before. (Something I intend to justify.) Before actually playing it, I asked them what the title made them think it'd sound like. Most of them thought it'd be some intense fight theme. By the three minute mark, I could swear I saw one of them beginning to tear up a little. I know I was.
One of the most beautiful songs in a gaming OST I’ve ever heard. Thank you Blue Rescue Team for making my childhood amazing. 💙
Don't think I will leave you we will be as one till the end of our lives we will travel high and low where no one has ever gone before you are my partner and I am one with you
This is one of the themes I am so excited to hear remastered now that PMD red and blue gets a release for the switch!
I was Mudkip, my partner was Torchic…man the feelings always hit harder than a wreaking ball every time I hear this theme
Never played pmd but this theme sounds very good
Hello update: I reached to this point of the game, I heard the theme, it sent chills to my spine, I was a fugitive
Update #2: Alright I finished playing the game, this and Sky Tower might be my favorite themes though it’s hard to choose a favorite
1 of the best pokemon game
If not the best
Si jamais il y a des français qui passent par là, je suis quand même pas le seul dans ce pays que ce jeu a fait rêver ? 😁
Oh man, no matter how many times I hear this song, it still tugs at my heart. It especially reminds me of the part when you and your partner are walking in the cold. I was a Charmander and my partner was a Pikachu. I was a fire type so I wasn't worried to much about myself, but I was so worried that my partner was gonna die in the cold or something(this was my 5th grade mentality)
“Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is”
I felt the same way because my partner was a Squirtle
Bitch I'm litteraly crying from the nostalgia right now, I always listen to this over 10 years after I played the game to feel as carefree and without a worry as I was back then, nothing in my mind, just passing a day away playing this, so invested in it that I would forget to eat or do anything else, the perfect life.
This song breaks me
This song is so nostalgic even though I never played the game. My younger sister has the game, but she’s a stuck on a part. While she and I are still young, we should play together and make memories together. Then this song will truly have a special place in my heart. Lol that was depressing oops
Can’t wait to hear this track in the new remake :’)
You never know what sticks to your memory in life, this will always remind me of a happier time. Thank you Pokemon.
I’m replaying the game and the soundtrack just punched me in the heart, I’m really glad it’s here
Run, run away... and live! I never cried to much things, but Mystery Dungeon made me cry.. More than once. I first got this game as a kid, I went with my mother to GameStop, and there were many used and cheap GameBoy games. I don't know why, but we bought it. Maybe I knew this was a wonderful game beforehand. I couldn't read, so I didn't understand much. It was very hard for me, so I stopped playing. A few years later, I found the game while I was cleaning up my room. I knew I haven't ever finished it, so I made another attempt. This time, I was able to read, and although it was very hard for me to beat the game, I did it. I cried so much at the end. ;-; A few years later, I found out that there's another game, Explorers of Sky, and I cried even more. I found my favourite game series of all time. But I don't like the new games as much as the old ones. Super Mystery Dungeon was a great game, but I didn't get the same sad feels.. Maybe I'm stuck in nostalgia, but I will never forget these games. They are forever in my heart. Sorry that I wrote so much, but when I heard this song, I just had to write this. PS: Gladons Theme?PPS: Who also likes the old pixel-artstyle more then the new 3D-Models?
~Pia~ I completely agree with everything you said here :)
You need to play Pokemon mystery dungeon Explorers of time and darkness, it's as good as Pokemon mystery dungeon blue and red rescue team. I don't like the new generations but pokemon mystery dungeon Gen 1 and Gen 2 are the best i've ever played
God, this song is gonna be in the remake of this game and I'm not gonna be ready.
Noooooo.
If been listening to this for over 2 hours know. At first i felt stupid for losing my original copy and with that......a part of my life....kinda, and it makes me wonder if i can ever have the same feelings for a game like my 8 year old self had for pmd........i think i have to cry for a bit.........
Oh god i cannot wait to hear this track remade! 😭😭😭
Also, you know what the world needs? A radio station only consisting of only video game masterpieces like this.
I wanna hear this in rescue team dx! 😭
My friend introduced me to these games. I really like them, and I've gotten better at drawing because I do Mystery Dungeon fanart. I wish I could see my friend again and tell him that.
Thanks for sharing this!
I'm glad I played this masterpiece called PMD Red Rescue Team. My mother offered it to me for Christmas in 2006. I was only 8, but this game deeply marked me. This game made me laugh, cry ... and most importantly communicated values like friendship, bravery and solidarity.
Even though it's shorter than Explorers of Time, it is still the best in my opinion.
I totally understand that feeling. Blue Rescue Team was my first DS game and I was not expecting it to make make such a strong impact on me. Even going back 10 years later I didn't expect it but it more than delivered. Is it better than Explorers of Sky... I don't think it's quite as strong because EOS has a genuine feel of loss right at it's ending when all those memories come rushing back but it's by no means a landslide.

Nobody may care but im back here for certain reasons. One because never before in my life as a younger child, well this is the game i played all the time. And grew to play the other mystery dungeons. Its like these games are connected to me emotionally because whenever i hear this music good memories come back. And indeed like most i cry, the music portrays the memories i have played these games with too well and it compliments the whole mystery dungeon series in its own special way. Thanks

0_0 Listen, you can hear bits of the final battle in this!
This is true. The final boss theme shares elements with this theme.
Probably one the best tracks I've ever heard in a videogame
Holy shit i can not wait to hear this banger again
I remember hearing this years ago. Finally found this song again.
This was my first videogame ever. I played it for hours and hours, starting the story over and over again. I miss those old days, I miss them so damn much
This has the same feeling as the finale of a highly emotional 24 episode long anime
GLADION.
I will never find such a game, so beautiful ... moving as this one ... I love this game and this story! : '( ...
I (Treecko) tried to depart, alone. And I even "ordered" my partner (Totodile) to stay, as he was innocent. I mean, this is my problem, so it's my responsibility to fix it.
But my partner refused to/denied that order, and choose to share the guilt with me. On the outside, I was frustrated, as if his loyalty made him gullible. But at the same time, on the inside, it "struck my heart".
