People do not understand Tampa a lot of the house were built long time ago on the water and people bought them did not understand one day it be a hurricane its not the wind its the water the lot is worth more than the house now people will just sell the house as is to get as much money as they can just like they are doing in fort Myers Beach
If you can't afford building code you can't afford the building
Did anyone have insurance? Did anyone have a life savings? You live in Florida in expensive homes....you should have the cash. Do. Not. Rebuild.
This really truly sucks for them…but wtf do you expect when your house is on a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico!?!?
If your houses flooded at sea level you probably shouldn't rebuild at sea level.
Why was it allowed to be built at sea level in the first place? Maybe the government offer them a loan to have the house jacked up.

Thought and prayer to tax payers. 😇
Nothing wrong with this
Got to be wealthy to live in Florida.
If they want the money they need to follow the rules.
The county and city get money, not the individual people
Who are you again?
The rules were changed after the houses were built.

Move.
Pesky supreme being.
Sisters trailer flooded twice not only did FEMA help replace everything she is now getting a new trailer through a program called transformation 386
Who elected fema to be in charge of anything, anywhere
Not sure how FEMA controls local building ordinances unless they're going to offer to pay for rebuilding.
@@safeandeffectivelol They don't. The rule only applies to those who want FEMA money.
What is it with idiots watching these stories that don’t live in the area and making dumb comments
Could you elaborate on dumb comments being made?
It's The Internet. Nuance and intellect don't really thrive here.
You nailed it ❤
The smart ones already left 😅😅
@@Howiefm28496 , Thank you, I love Florida, but it was getting crowded...lol
