    Hello Kim
As a young child I taught myself how to crochet and knit because nobody could teach me as mom and sisters were right handed.
At 54 I want to learn Tunisian crochet and I love these videos. Thanks 🙏🏻

Hi Kim! Trying to teach myself the Tunisian stitch so thank you for your videos for lefties. I’m confused on turning the chain over - I can’t tell if it turns back to the front while I’m crocheting the foundation chain stitch. I can’t tell the difference between front & back

Thank you so much for all your Tunisian Crochet videos! As a left hander I've gotten pretty good at watching a right handed tutorial or learning from a right hander and making it work for me but these videos help a lot! your Tunisian videos are by far the best one's I have found as well!!

Elizabeth Bennett, for the life of me, I haven’t been able to crochet with my right hand. I have learned to knit in either hand but not crochet. I crochet only left handed and following Kim, I have further developed my skill set with the left hand for both standard crochet and Tunisian. I really appreciate her lefty videos!

Yes! I learned crochet from my grandmother by sitting across from her and mirroring her, and I still remember her being so shocked I could do "such beautiful things with my left hand," (she was born in 1910 so she had some pretty funny ideas about what it meant to be left handed and was sort of upset my family refused to "fix it" when i was young) but by seeing these videos I have been able to grow my skill set from moderate to completing far more advanced techniques and I've loved it!

I understand what you mean by funny ideas about lefties. My family used to say I would never get to heaven because I was a lefty! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. At the age of 12, I was taught by my adult, right handed cousin in the same manner. However, she was quite impatient with me and so I took myself to the local library and borrowed books. I eventually found a beginners knitting book, which showed ‘how to’ knit with both the right and left hands.

Love your tutorial! Very easy to follow. I have now made about 5 inches long with 25 stitches , but why is it curling on both ends (the part that I started and the row that I am working on??

It's completely normal. It's just like knitting in this way. Here are some tips on reducing and eliminating the curl: crochetkim.com/tunisian-crochet-stop-the-curling/

So I have a block that is 15 rows by 15 rows in white and I'm ready to join "as I go" my next block in black for checkered look... do I join it on the left side of my first block or the right side of my first block

Since you're posting on a left handed video, you must be left handed. If that's the case, then I would normally join the yarn on the left side, chain out and begin my foundation row, joining it to the left of one of the sides.

CrochetKim perfect thank you it only worked out that way for me.. all the videos I watched said join in the bottom right of foundation chain.. I was so frustrated until I went to the left side.. I wanted to make sure it wasn't me.. thank you thank you your the only one that covers left handed Tunisian.. and my apologies for not clearing that up In my question .. yes I'm a southpaw lol

I understand. It's the reason I have left-handed videos. I had so many people tell me that you can't do Tunisian crochet if you're left-handed. I needed to ensure that people didn't continue believing that. :-)

Hi Kim I have a question that I can't seem to find anywhere and hope you can help...
When I try to join as I go differant Panels I'm finding that I have to start on the left side of my project so the sides match is this correct or am I doing something wrong. I tried going on the right side and found I was facing away from my project.. and if I'm joining on top if I start on the right side then it joins with the wrong side in front ... hope you understand sorry if I'm confusing with my question

What size is your hook and what yarn are you using?

    • @CrochetkimWebsite
      @CrochetkimWebsite  8 лет назад

This is Red Heart Super Saver (size 4 weight) and I believe that's a size H-5mm. It doesn't say so I can't be certain. It was hand crafted and it's been about 15 years since I purchased it.

Thanks for the quick response. I love the videos - they're so helpful in clarifying what my written instructions say. The pictures are very clear and your instruction is right on target. Thank you for providing them.

Trying to find a hook like the one in your video with no luck. Brand? Purchased where?
