Love the attitude about fixing things rather than just replacing everything :) 0:25 : Rear window wiper + washer, though I can't understand the symbol either :D
Ah yes! The symbols kind of makes a little sense knowing that.... mines does not have a rear wiper though... I also found a switch with wires and all to activate headlight washers... which it does not have either! :D
For re-lubricating sleeve bearings, it's best to use a proper bearing oil or something relatively thin like 3-in-1 oil which will soak into the bronze bushing (there's usually a felt pad around the bearing that you soak in the oil, which over time permeates its' way through), this would keep the bearing running for many more years, saving the need to buy another, and of course lube up the rear bearing too, as it'll probably be gummed up as well... :)
Usually a trailer switch in a car is to direct 12v to the tow hitch electrics (if fitted). Another great video, I really enjoy being there with you and your fleet.
Had a temporary job once with a white van. The heater broke down in freezing weather and I got very cold very fast. Phoning my boss and being told to put up with it until the end of the day resulted in me saying 'No - it's not safe for me to drive, I'm getting colder and colder'. I think the guy had never had that happen to him and didn't realise how drafty such vans are and how cold they can get.
I find it hilarious I get ads for new cars - often hybrids or EV's whilst watching - clearly not content led as nothing could be further from the Seaside Garage ethos lol
nice work! I'm loving your Nivas videos recently.. probably cause there is a chance that next year we will sell our family Golf mk7 to buy an old Niva like this! Thanks for the precious info :D
@@SeasideGarage yeah, i know.. but we live in the Appennini area and here the risk of snow is high in the winter and the golf in no good on snow 😓 We have already the Y10 4wd, my Punto.. we need a capable 4×4 like the niva, also for agricultural stuff around the house ahaha since pandas 4×4 arent cheap, we are looking for a Niva.. Bigger but simple like Panda
10:21 NNNNNOOOOO WD40 is not what you should be using on that. You want to use sowing machine oil. It is perfect for these motors. I use it on my retro hi-fi repairs on cassette deck motors it will last for a long time. You will find that WD40 will not last at all.
a Lada? not heating properly? that must be a glitch they were trained by the USSR to take a cyanide pill in the case of thinking of not working. I'm almost sure that vehicle was registred in Egypt. by the way, I found this plain funny; but there ARE pickup trucks that requre the front 2 seats removed just to acces to the blower motor. mind boggling
I love a cheap fix .... a free fix is even better 🙂

It looks like a symbol for a tipper 😂
I remember when I had a Niva the heater was pretty amazing. Definitely need it for winter. Great work saving it 👍

That was really enjoyable. Glad you were able to fix it relatively easily.

I'm watching niva with great pleasure
niva best.looc my niva
Good fix, Lada's are so simple to repair, unlike modern cars, the heater should work very well, these things were built to cope with Siberian winters!
Thanks for shape
It's a common mistake to say CCCP as we do in English. The letters are actually in the Cyrillic alphabet and are the equivalent of SSSR.
Ah yes... I should have known..
Fantastic wrok mate! What a joy to work on. I see why you like the Lada so much!
Good result. A fan is also a safety issue re. demisting.
It seems an attempt has been made to fix a leaking battery tray with a duct tape :) A classic solution :)
Yeees! ;)
Love it! Such a nice fix! So satisfying! And such a great difference in temperature! 😅

It gets extremly cold really quick!

Haha! I am trying to get you all to realize how much work old gasoline cars are and how easy a life with a EV could be.... :P
Looks to be a brushed motor? I always check the wear of those, while it's apart, with an old unknown motor.
That middle button looks like either the ejector seat or the dump truck!
Nice little Motobecane in the corner! I collect Motobecanes, I only know of a few of those models that you have in the US.
Its a awesome little bike!
Håber på flere videoer, hvor vi kan se Nivaen i aktion :)
nice work!

Thats is going to be a pretty brutal swap going from that golf to a Niva... but its a wonderful thing if you can live with the simplicity!

Det håber jeg!!

you should check out wd40 specialist series... ;)
They make a lot of different stuff... This is not normal wd40.. ;)
job is great as usual !
p.s. but personally for me niva is a piece of sh#t, it is very noisy, eats a lot gas, very often rusts and breaks down, etc.
Hehe... Being that I really enjoy fixing stuff, it could be the perfect car for me! ;)
@@SeasideGarage yes, for people enjoy fixing somerhing - niva and all russian's stuff are the best :)))
