I’m a coach for 45 years in basketball, soccer, tennis and badminton. I never give feedback after a specific instruction except generic comments like, “getting there”, “that’s good”, “good effort” etc. for at least 5-10 minutes, just to give space for the student to figure it out. I only get very specific comments when he’s stuck and couldn’t go on. Why? To facilitate the athletes’ ability to self correct. Jerome, I watched a few of his videos, always hit pretty well at the end of the lesson, but loss it in the next lesson. I’d give specific advice on how much practice on each specific skills and also checkpoints on goals in the process. Next lesson, test that specific skill to see if goals were met, before moving on to other skills. That’d be boring RUclips, but would work wonders.

Chris is a great coach. I noticed that he has corrected you having an open stance on multiple occasions over a few videos. I'm not sure if it's just the camera angle, but your feet were aiming left again and again in this video. It must feel strange to aim a bit to the right in order to draw the ball left. Keep up the great work.

JR, your series represent many golfers. Please realize that overthinking, and over questioning doesn’t much add to your journey. I realize it is your journey, but you’ve brought us along, nicely. The best I’ve ever played is when I don’t think about the swing. Yes on the range is when you work on issues. I was told by my PGA instructor, it usually is your GPA ( grade point average) you check first. G stands for grip. P stands for all position. A stands for alignment. When in the future , when things go haywire, you check your GPA!
Chris is teaching you the swing. Trust him. He is very good 👍!

  • @Freethebees99

I understand the weird feel you mentioned on the downswing trying to bow your wrist prior to impact. Wrist felt cupped at the top of backswing even when it looked flat and trying to bow it for impact felt impossible to be consistent. So I just played with a bowed wrist backswing to top and rotate through down swing. Less wrist manipulation towards impact and could feel the clubhead more for better control

JR, it sounds like your timing is a bit off with the flip, it sounds a little chunky when you hit the ball. Like Chris says, hit from the inside. inside of the ball, get the flip timing down and you're golden

Your 89th episode ? That’s way too much instruction and way too few practicing on one thing at a time? I think one needs thousands of drill sessions on one skill like a half swing to get to an ideal “stock shot”, before elaborating it with slight changes to a full swing. But since you’re doing a series of RUclips episodes, that’d be too boring. Hence, too much instructions but too few drilling on a couple basics will lead to ….. too much thinking. Coach actually asked you to not seek another lesson but just go practice and play…good point.😊
