I’m sure he takes care of himself. Healthy diet and lifestyle will go a long way in preserving youthfulness. You cannot change your genetics but you certainly can change your lifestyle.

I Traveled 300 km with 58 students of my Ecology Class just to see the eclipse with them and give them an unique experience! i hope to live that in the next eclipse 27 years in the future!
Science teachers for me were always the nicest. Everyone has a different experience. Physics teacher, biology, environmental teachers were all awesome. Especially physics one
Science was always my favorite subject. Lot of the teachers I had helped with that. Now a senior in HS. I've always felt like many science teachers seem to be the most interactive/good demeanors. That's just from my experience.
I had two science teachers like this in junior high. I am still in contact with one via Facebook over 20 years later. I have also gone back to visit my old drama teacher. Some teachers really do leave an impact
I love my old drama /english teacher. He had such a positive impact on my high school experience. I’m friends with him 28 years later. Drama was where I fit in and made so many friends. Loved it so much!
This man is that rare and wonderful thing: a teacher who was genuinely born to teach. I’ve had one or two of them in my day and they’re among the best people in the world.

True selfless person there, he says how privileged *he is* that these students came back to watch the eclipse with him. He obviously made a big impression and impact in many of their lives, shows what a difference a good, motivated educator can make.

Great sense of humor!! I've never had a role model growing up and nothing to look forward to. I'm now 40 years old, and this makes me happy and sad that I wish I had a teacher like this in my early life.

That’s awesome. I was a smart azz, teenager, it was years later that I learned one of my teachers was at D-day in Normandy. If I only realized it then, I would have been a much better student. Sometimes life teaches you a lesson later on in life. Kudos to the teacher who obviously left a mark on his many students. What a nice story for what is happening in the world today.😊
That's a longest class assignment I've heard of! 😂😂😂 In all honesty though, this just speaks volumes of how a great teacher can have enormous possitive influence in someone's life. Unfortunately, my instructor, "the one" which marked my life and path passed away from cancer. Wherever you are, I miss you Mrs. Shannon. But im thankful to have had you and to be able to convey to you how importan you were to me 20yrs later. ❤
It's a crazy story when you realize that most of these students are in their 50s now, this teacher has to be in his 70s or 80s. Actually I looked it up and this teacher's only 68 years old and started teaching when he was 22, wow.

As an educator I LOVED this story! I disliked my 9th grade science teacher and despite this I LOVE the wonder of nature and science.
